Caesar Salad with Anchovies (yes I love Anchovies)

Last night my Beautiful Bride and I enjoyed a date night here in Malibu. We've traditionally gone to Duke's Malibu, but since last year's fire it's still not open -- so we decided to try something new. On the recommendation of our RV park neighbor, we gave OLLO a shot and it absolutely did not disappoint! Even though it's tucked into the Ralphs shopping center, the ambiance was warm and inviting, the food was delicious, wines were great and the service was spot on. Sometimes stepping out of tradition leads to a wonderful new favorite.

Happy hour everyday from 3pm - close. Need i say more? The portions are not full size but for the price (about $10) it"s perfect! And this gives you an opportunity to try different items. The complimentry bread with our meals was delicious and warm. We ordered the eggplant parmiggiana and pasta pomodoro. Also, there's plenty of free easy parking!

Just a quick update to my last posting. Today I tried their interpretation of huevos rancheros (3 sunny side up eggs, black pot beans, avocado, pico de gallo, shredded cheese and sour cream on a fried tortilla). I LOVED IT Ollo is my go to place for Sunday brunch. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and food that's consistently good! Keep up the good work!

Excellent brunch spot. We arrived early in the morning for a quiet breakfast a day after Christmas. Christmas decor was cute, and they were ready for the New Year festivities. I had the NY Steak and eggs. Excellent choice and serving size. Steak was cooked medium rare and seasoned well! Luis, our server, was attentive and patient!

The food was excellent my friend had a hamburger cooked correctly and wrapped in lettuce. I had egg plant Parmesan and we both had a grilled artichokes. The service was friendly but very slow. We did get the appetizers right away, but the entrée took about 40 minutes, which is way too long. Other than that, I would recommend this restaurant and intend to give it another try.

Food was delicious and a lot. If you are into big portions, this is the place for you. Service was great. Ambiance was nice and flowery. We ate lunch and there was enough left for dinner.

Came to Malibu for an event. Stopped at Ollo for dinner. We walked in and were seated. The first thing we noticed was the comfortable decor. The restaurant had a nice ambiance and the had nice contemporary music playing. We placed our drink order and asked for some bread. We got our drinks, but no bread. It was almost 20 minutes before were were served our requested bread. We were starting to get a sense that they were short on wait staff. Our waiter was nice but you could pick up on his stress. We started with the Cauliflower appetizer. It was delicious! Not what I expected but very good. I ordered the Beef Short Rib and Mashed Potatoes. My wife asked for the Porcini Mushroom Parpadelle pasta. We received or Beef Short Rib plate and a Beef Ragu Parpadelle dish. The waiter was nowhere to be seen, so she ate the dish she received. For desert we got the Torta Della Nonna. It was good, but the ice cream on the side was the highlight. All in all the food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, but they definitely had a staffing shortage.

Decided to give Olllo a shot while passing through Malibu -- it seemed like a cozy, niche spot for breakfast/brunch, and the vibe definitely delivers on that front. Chill atmosphere, trendy coastal decor, and a menu that leans into fresh, simple ingredients. I was hopeful. I ordered the breakfast burrito with pico de gallo, and... mixed feelings. First off, the pico came on the side, which threw me off. Not a huge deal, but it made the burrito look kinda sad and underwhelming on the plate -- like it missed its final styling check. That said, it actually tasted really good. The flavors were on point, the ingredients felt fresh, and it definitely wasn't greasy or overly heavy like some breakfast burritos can be. Where it lost me a bit was value and presentation. For the price (which was up there), the portion felt a bit light. And the side of chips? Didn't really pair well -- more like an afterthought than a complement to the meal. Honestly, if I wasn't in Malibu and trying to try something new, I probably would've just gone to Chipotle. All in all, it's not bad at all -- in fact, it's good -- but I was expecting just a little more given the price point and how it presents itself. Worth trying once if you're in the area, but I'm not rushing back.

Breakfast served till 3pm- yessss! If you're a breakfast fan like me, this place is a great choice. I had the Ollo Scramble and it was so good and hearty. My husband got the homemade zucchini bread with strawberry butter, and said it was delicious. If I wasn't gluten-free, I'd have been all over it. Our daughter's Belgian waffle was incredible too. This restaurant is charming with rustic casual vibes and friendly service. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Loved it!

Portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller for the price. I usually always get the Glass Noodle bowl with chicken. The chicken had little flavor and was a little tough. Usually has great flavor. But for $ 30, I'll pass next time .

I wanted to love this place. We had a good experience a few years back. Not this time. It was 4:30, mostly empty restaurant. The ambience is lovely, except for the huge overwhelming TVs. Our waiter was quite inattentive and borderline rude. He never stated his name but the server on the bill states Juan Carlos. He only had a couple tables. My whiskey ginger sour was ok, but it took a minute to get. The bread was absolutely scorched. The waiter. never acknowledged our request for water to be refilled (other waiters brought a bottle and left it at the table). He never asked if I wanted another drink and, the worst, took forever to bring the check when asked for it directly. Our food was meh. Grilled salmon bowl with fishy salmon and it stated farro but barely saw any. The zucchini noodles zoodles were fine. I should have taken pics of that. If I eat here again, I will have happy hour at the bar.

Branzino with a side of mash and green beans. The fish was just perfectly cooked, to die for a dish.

Just an absolute gem in Malibu. We walked in after a frustrating experience nearby and were immediately welcomed with warm, attentive service from Manuk. He made everything effortless--from ordering a glass of wine for my wife and a cocktail for me, to guiding us through the menu. The food was genuinely outstanding, and the whole experience just clicked. It's rare to find a spot that checks every box: great service, delicious food, and that relaxed, small-town Malibu vibe that still feels alive in places like this. Manuk really made the night special, he made our toddler so happy, great high chairs for kids. Well done, OLLO. We'll definitely be back.

Ice water: go inside and help yourself. Mandatory pre-selected tip: 25%. Service attitude: meh. Then, as you opted for the convenient method above, they charge you 99 cent extra. For every order. OK, if you care to hear more: I was born and raised in Germany. In Germany, staff gets paid by the hour, so it's typical to "round up": on a €44 check you would possibly give €47-48, €50 would be considered generous. STILL, when I get asked what would be the first you would import from the US, I suggested "the way you tip service". For decades, 15-18, max 20% was the rule, and you got excellent service for this. I preferred excellent service over saving money in a restaurant. Now, they led us to believe that service does not get paid and their tip is what they take home. Also, they want is to believe that 15% tip is almost an offense as everything got more expensive. A server at Zinqué Malibu earns a legally mandated minimum of $17.91 per hour before tips. Zinqué does not publicly disclose its exact hourly rate; its job postings describe compensation as "hourly + tips," based on experience. True: everything gets more expensive. Every year. So if prices adjust for a sandwich, so does the tip, it's whatever percent on top. So "everything is more expensive" is covered by the higher tip. Zinque offers substandard service, suggests an extra 25% as default for it, and then makes me pay extra for them reducing the service. I still believe that great service deserves recognition. Sadly, I also believe that whoever is behind this, has lost his mind. As much as I love the ambiance of this place, I will not go again. Possibly they would not even want me to come again. Fair enough. During my visit, max 20% of the tables were taken, rather less. Maybe there are more people like me. Again, to make sure we do not misunderstand each other: I have no objections to have an online menu. I prefer a "real" one, but then, digitalization will take over. Fine. I dot not support that I have to tip before I have even seen service, though. Tip must be earned. By service. The more you love the service, the more you should tip.

The short answer is that Paradise Cove Beach Cafe is a minor tourist trap that is only really…read moresomewhat redeemable if you are going to the beach and/or making a day of it and need somewhere to both eat and park. First off, the negative: the parking is absolutely insane and always raising throughout the years, so if you're coming here for the beach and just the beach (no food/ drinks), then this is absolutely not worth it. If you don't mind paying an arm and a leg for good food and not the greatest service, then they can validate your parking for you, making it a better deal; not free, but lower than before. Their menu is kind of confusing because one side is dedicated to family sized meals, but the other size doesn't have everything on the menu that they truly serve. When I came here last weekend with my family, the blonde waitress that was taking care of us didn't give us a kids menu for my sister when seating us. When she came by again after we got seated, I asked her for one and motioned towards my sister. She asked, "Who at the table here is a kid?" in a serious tone and had a slight attitude. I just calmly said, "My sister," and motioned again, like before, towards her. She asked, "Well how old is she?" "11.....," I said. And she rolled her eyes and walked away. After five minutes, she came back with a kid's menu, although I never really knew what the full issue was. I understand that they don't want adults ordering off of the kid's menu in order to make more money on the adult meals, even though they can be too big for some people depending on what you get. However, a kid that maybe looks a couple years older wasn't as big of a deal as she made it out to be, rolling her eyes to a whole family. When we got our food, which was around 25 minutes after we ordered, a lot of the dishes my family and I ordered came in big portions and could be saved for dinner or another meal. I had also ordered a frozen margarita prior, but was disappointed when I got it and it wasn't frozen, but a very, very melted down version. It tasted good and wasn't too strong, though. All in all, I'd maybe recommend if you've never been before just to go once to check out the space, food, ambiance, and views that they're really known for. It's truly gorgeous since they're located right on the beach, and it's an amazing location. However, the customer service and prices make this restaurant not an occurring place that we go to.

What a find! In town for a quick weekend trip for a wedding in Pasadena. Had all day Sunday to…read moreexplore before taking a red eye back to the Third Coast! Lovely drive to Point Dume and Zina beaches nearby, and looked up somewhere close and casual before driving back. So lucky to have been close to this spot! Everything was fantastic. The mocktails were absolutely delicious-- I wish we could've had some cocktails as they were surely just as good. Really lovely casual vibe here and the food was so yummy. Chips and salsa were so fresh and homemade. Me and my husband both had the tacos Malibu plate as the menu was overwhelmingly yummy looking and we had tired brains! Did not disappoint. Service was courteous and they did not check on us during our meal which was really appreciated so we could dine in peace and not feel rushed. I hope i'm able to return to this area again someday thank you for the mems

Went in on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get seated right away. Host was very friendly and the…read moredrinks were delicious. We were able to order drinks right away but it took a noticeably long time for our waiter to come back for food. He seemed a bit over-stretched and while taking our order was very observant of other things happening around the restaurant. The drinks were really well crafted. I had a Paloma and it was top notch. Tasted very fresh. I got the Tacos Malibu, everything was alright. The best part of the plate was the rice and beans. Fish didn't seem as fresh as it should be. Best tacos were the deep fried ones (which is never my choice). My daughter said that her birria tacos were okay but would prefer a handful of other restaurants that we've been to. Overall, La Nena was...okay. Given the price and location - I was hoping for a bit more. I'd be hesitant to go back given the cost and the experience.
