Swung by to renew my membership and get the kiddos some Kumon workbooks and whatever they wanted. I only encountered two staff members, the lady at the counter who renewed my membership and another lady in the Starbucks area (BTW, they don't have my beloved lemon pound cake, but you should try their red velvet cheesecake or the oreo stack...both of which aren't as sweet as they look "perhaps I should book a dental appt w/ all these sweets I've had this week alone") both of which were very friendly. I'm rambling...to make a long story short....this is the place you'd want to be on a cold Fall or Winter night! I don't have to tell you to go see it for yourself because I'm sure you will.

Really wasn't sure what to expect when going into a place that is so vaguely named The Bookstore…read more... ok, well maybe we had a bit of an idea. Horse Cave, KY is a surprising little destination on our trip to Mammoth Caves and we were delighted with our finds while visiting this little town. Most everything is located in a pretty small quadrant, so you can make your rounds to all the different shopping locations pretty easily. This book store was surprisingly big, and had something from every genre. Prices are reasonable and they even have some items that would be considered more collectable and had prices that acknowledged that. Staff was really nice and helpful and they had some really great prices. We would stop in here again if we made our way back to Horse Cave.

VERY interesting place! Yes, it is run out of the owners house, but you would swear he sleeps on…read morebooks! They are wall to wall, first editions, etc. It's not your typical bookstore with a rack for popular sci-fI, or fantasy, he has complete rooms dedicated to history, arts, self-help, etc. but they are mostly old. The smell of old books permeates the entire house. It's a beautiful thing. Go spend an hour looking at historic Louisville books, (I found a courier journal cookbook from the mid eighties here!) or go upstairs to peruse a wall of art! It's a fantastic place!

Love spending time here with my teen flipping through vinyl and finding the best obscure books. Half _rice Books is a great place to browse when you have a general interest in mind but not as…read moremuch as when you're looking for a specfic book. They have a great selection and great variety of books but finding a specific book is a bit more challenging than browsing and seeing what catches your eye. Overall, their prices on used books is pretty good. They advistise that they also "BUY" used books but I would urge caution when trying to sell books to them. They offer pennies on the dollar and the last time I took a batch of about 25 books in and got an offer of less than a dollar, I swore I'd donate the books to Goodwill or Friends of the Library rather than hauling them in here and being offered next to nothing. Summary - a great place to find good, used books priced pretty inexpensive. Bad place to try and sell used books.

I love reading, so 2nd and Charles is amazing to me. I like this location. I've never seen many…read moreworkers walking around the store, but any time I need help and seek assistance from the service desk, staff are more than willing to help. I love coming to the Penny-A-Page sale they have each year. I think they had two of these sales last year. The books here are normally in amazing condition and many books are priced well. I'll continue shopping here and recommend to others any time I'm able.
