I am not a fan of Rural Kings other locations but this location is definitely different. The facility is clean with the one exception being the bathrooms. They offer a wide variety of candies and novelty sodas. My son loves the free popcorn. Prices are reasonable and in some cases cheaper than the super center down the road. I shop here for bird food, paper towels. The biggest deal you can find though is the car batteries are way cheaper than most any store around. The checkout people are usually decent. I really don't have any complaints. read more

My husband and I love shopping at this rural King. We drove to this store location from Henderson Kentucky just to make our large purchase for a fencing project we are currently working on. We purchased a Chainsaw, 700 feet of fencing, and a 6 foot gate. We came to this one because of the selection / product availability and what we needed, being all in stock for one large pick-up trip. We also appreciate the value of the money we spend. Also, it is the friendless and helpfulness of the staff is amazing at this location. All that made the trip worthwhile. I also want to mention Jerry. When we first came across Jerry, he was inside the store working hard and handling floor duties. He was so helpful to my husband and I. He was also polite, courteous, and thoughtful when it came to us as a customer and, most certainly, hard-working. He made the whole process down to the loading so smooth for us. I highly recommend talking to him if you're in the store!! Management should most certainly be regonizing him for his hard work! Having been in management for my whole career when I was working in retail, I can tell he is a model employee, and I wanted to acknowledge him because he deserves it. Our local Rural king. Parking lot can get a little crazy sometimes with the tight parking spots. They have just about a little of everything. We come here to get the large bags of bird feed. They have the best price. 40 pound bag for $15. read more

I recently purchased a rifle from these guys and had it shipped to store for local pickup. The time came to go get my item and I throu expected the usual paperwork. What I did not expect was RK policy on background checks. They don't accept CCDW license for the check which normally expedites transfer. They also don't follow ATF guidelines to release the weapon after seven days if the background doesn deny within that timeframe. I've been waiting over two weeks now when I usually get instant approval whenever the FFL uses my CCDW for the request. No matter the deal they have on firearms, I will never purchase from them again. I had to drive an hour for pickup and on my first attempt I wasted an entire day only to be denied and told I'd have to wait until they get an approval and I'll have to make another trip to get my rifle. I've had two other transfers go through immediately since I purchased from RK and still waiting on them. read more

Bought a new brand of chainsaw after using the same brand for years... Got it home and had some minor issues, took it back the next day and Ryan "I think his name is" in the service dept was the man!!! He took everything apart looking for things that I didn't know to, gave me a impromptu class on operating differences.. troubleshot a few issues and ultimately got it working flawlessly!!! He's the reason that I will continue to buy any and all power tools from RK!! Give that man a raise!!! read more

This place is great. Chicken food, dog food, new socks, bottled water, some sour cherry candies, and a tractor implement on the same trip. The people here are great as well and are super sweet to the kiddos. Always fun to look at the massive rooster while you are there! read more

This place opened up a few months ago and has a bit of everything but focused on farm and outdoor lifestyle. They offer free popcorn and coffee nearby the entrance. They have chick and ducklings and rabbits available for purchase. I usually come here for the guns, ammonium and dog supplies. They are usually cheaper than other stores, plus there is a lot of different products to browse at. They usually have trendy country/ rustic decor and seasonal items to purchase. Some times they will get specialty items for hunting, fishing, kayaking and seasonal that tends to bring business. They have beautiful fresh Christmas trees available right now. The store is reasonably clean, but you may spot a few popcorn kernels on the floor. The store also allows pets, due to they have a vet clinic (Country Critters) attached with separate hours from the store. Overall it's a great addition to the Hardin County area since there is a mix of farm, rural to suburban living. Come check it out!! read more

This store has a wide variety of stuff for everyone. They are very busy on the weekends and finding someone to help is a challenge. Also, while you are in the building, you will not have ANY cell service. I don't care what carrier you have. You have to go outside if you need to answer a call, send a text or just research/Google a product or part you need. There is NO Wi-Fi so your phone will work. If they had Wi-Fi, I would give them 4 stars. read more

Rural King in Shelbyville, KY, is our go-to place for wild bird and chicken feed. Their prices are great for these items. But today, again, the visit was unnerving for me. We have a Covid MASK MANDATE in Kentucky, which Rural King has no interest in enforcing. I am in a high risk category and double mask, but it is scary when so many arrogant folks put us at risk. I went early today, 8:00 AM, At the Radcliff store, to get a couple of the specials they had on Springfield XDS pistols. I even called before going to see if they had them in stock--they did. When I got there, the person at the gun counter was arranging fishing poles, and I asked if they had any of the specials to look at. They ignored me!?! I asked again, a lot louder this time, and with a snobby attitude , I was told they didn't hear me. My wife and myself were the only ones in this area, and the employee was maybe 20 feet away, I told them to just keep playing with the fishing poles, as they evidently didn't want to sell $900+ in guns to me. I tried to contact the manager, but his mailbox wasn't working--imagine that! If you want a gun go to KY Gun Co. in Bardstown , they will actually wait on you! read more

DO NOT order on-line from Rural King! I ordered something on 12/30/2020. Supposedly, It was in stock & shipped right away & my credit card was charged on 1/1/2021. By 1/7/2021, it had not arrived, so I contacted them. They blamed it on the U.S. Post Office, without even looking in to my order, & asked for me to give it a few days. I gave it 8 days, then contacted them once again. They never responded. I contacted them yet once again on 1/19/2021, & finally, after 21 days, got a refund (but no merchandise). Rural King's customer service rep was not nice. Of course, I wasn't intimated & gave her the same attitude she gave to me. There are so many stores that sell what Rural King does. This store has a great variety of products. It is pet friendly as well. I love being able to take my 2 dogs in there with me. The staff and cashiers are very helpful and friendly that being said it is annoying to always be asked about saving 5% on my purchase by applying for their credit card! Not only does it happen every time I'm checking out, the staff will also approach you with this offer while you're shopping! Would give 5 star rating if they'd stop harassing me about a frigging credit card I don't want or need read more
