Speedway used to be my favorite gas station (when I lived in other cities, as far away as Brooklyn and as close as Lexington, KY), for various reasons. Their Speedy Rewards customer rewards program is one of the best you'll see at any kind of establishment (seriously, you can make enough points to where you can get free gift cards where you make more points and thus can get more free gift cards, and end up getting good deals there or save up to get gift cards to various restaurants or other establishments if you want. I could rave about their program all day, apparently, ha).
There is something about the Speedways in Louisville that is different though. The rewards program is still there, but the actual establishments aren't taken care of well. It's hard to find parking spots, so people will park their cars where the pumps are and take up the full space. There are only 8 pumps at this particular Speedway to begin with, with w down and 2 with cars that just had their doors open wide taking up the small amount of space there is here to move around. There need to be better parking spots or they need to have pumps that don't break down as much or something, because ridiculous.
One Speedway (I'm not taking poi ts away here bc it's a different Speedway) had literally all the gas pumps down when I went. I want to keep going to speedways but I need to find one where people aren't practically on a demolition course or something trying to get to the pumps (even tho most of the people use them as parking spots, taking up 2 full pump spots when they park there). I swear it was like being in a bad video game maneuvering around the other cars. Plus, this Speedway needs to be updated, it just looks so dumpy, but it's not even the workers' faults, it doesn't look like it can actually get to a point where it looks clean. Plus I really wanted one of the frozen fountain drinks and those were all down.
I still will try some of the other Speedways and maybe if I am passing by this one and it is completely empty I'll go, but the way this one is set up just sets it up for failure as a store unfortunately. The worker there tonight was actually really nice and I do like my Speedy Rewards points. But just the odd way this place is spread out, with out enough obvious parking spots and too many closed pumps, for now gets 2 stars. read more
