We got the crab dip. It came with crostini, yay! It is surprising how many places around here…read moreserve fish dip or crab dip with crackers. And the "other" wine bar in Ormond Beach doesn't even have bread in the restaurant. The crostini were freshly made, with a touch of garlic. The crab dip was delicious and had lumps of crab in it. Very filling. This wine bar has a lot of European and South American wines, not just CA. And the woman working there was pretty knowledgeable. She also encourage us to taste the wines before committing to a glass, which was appreciated since most glasses are $15+. We both got red blends and they were both good. The atmosphere is very laid back, not pretentious. There are clear signs that everyone is welcome here, straight, gay or otherwise. the couches are beckoning, and the conversation pits are well set up. We were here right after opening, around 5pm. And at first it was empty but that didn't make us feel awkward because the staff were attentive without being intimidating. They were very welcoming. We left saying we willl go back when we have more time and appetite and try sitting at a couch instead of the bar.

Had their egg sandwich on a baguette so good w/ fresh fruit. Plus got to play around w/ my spirit box and chit chat with a few ghostly apparitions

I came to McCoy's Rum Room while traveling solo in Daytona beach for a weekend (and was staying at…read morethe Hilton). I REALLY enjoyed my experience here. I felt it was difficult (within walking distance from the Hilton) to find nicer bars where you could lounge, enjoy the ambiance, and also have a nicer selection of wine and spirits. So I'm glad I (literally) didn't have to walk anywhere to enjoy exactly that. This is what made my experience at McCoy's Rum Room great: - I love the decor. The plush couches. The finishes and thoughtful touches they added (like the lighting and curtains). The space comes together nicely, is airy and spacious, welcoming and posh. - I liked (not loved) the drink list. The wine selection for red was on point, bubbly was a little low class, but the cocktail list seemed fun and I enjoyed a Raspberry Collins - Which the bartender was happy to accommodate my additional asks (less sugar, extra lime) and in general, he was SO friendly, attentive and nice. - They have a short but GOOD bar food menu that included bigger items (like burgers) and a nice selection of light bites (I had the hummus plate, which was really nice, and also quite inexpensive ($8) and LARGE). Good thing I was drunk and hungry. I really enjoyed this bar. I recommend it and when I come back to Daytona and stay at the Hilton, I'll definitely be back! For some reason I ordered a painkiller that was not exceptional followed by a shot of bourbon whiskey that tasted like garbage and definitely watered down. But the band was cool playing 80s and 90s rock and RB hits. They even played Fine young cannibals. yeah remember them. u member LOL.
