What a sweet treat! While these are pretty pricey ($17 for 7), they are a fun & yummy way to treat yourself. I have enjoyed most flavors I've tried here. My favorite flavor so far is the salted caramel. Usually I'm not huge on salted caramel, but this one has a great filling and isn't overwhelmingly salty. It's got a nice balance. The churro flavor was new and tasted very similar you to Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Really, every other flavor we tried was just as delicious. I'd give any of them a shot! read more

Ugh - these are terrible macarons. They're crispy, but not chewy, the shell just has no distinctive flavor and it just makes me think it's nothing more than "sugar shell", with the texture of sugar to boot. I liken it to a shell of what resembles hardened frosting. I could be a macaron snob though - my favorite isn't Lauduree or Pierre Herme, but Carette Paris by far! But seriously, I think even Trader Joe's macarons are better than these. Don't waste your money. read more

There are decent macarons here, but buy here only if you can't wait for your sugar fix; the ones at Clarendon Bakeshop are tastier and 35% cheaper. I tried the wedding almond flavor (best of the bunch), a weak Nutella, and a tart "charcoal lemonade" flavor. When I asked the salesperson "why charcoal?" she had no answer beyond that it made the sweet a distinctive color. Later, I looked at the Olivia website and saw that the business has a partnership with Alex's Lemonade Stand and that the charcoal is meant to be a healthful ingredient. It's cool to have collaborations like that, but the salespeople should be able to talk about the promotions. read more

Quick stop while in Georgetown. This used to be my favorite macarons spot in the area. Very vibrant and cute atmosphere inside with seating. Each macaron is at 3$ now, which is not worth the price considering its quality. I only got two macarons (Rose and Honey Lanvender). The shells were hollow, crumbling/breaking apart as I held the macarons with my fingers. Macarons were stale. Pretty disappointing. They were good when I had them about a year ago so hopefully there will be some improvements in the future. read more

Great variety of flavors. Some are better than others. Certain flavors have a weird aftertaste, but I guess that's from the coloring or artificial flavoring. I'd still go back and stick to the one I liked the most, vanilla, fruity pebbles, Ube, chocolate, and lavender. read more

We had some great customer service today--the guy helping us was so nice! He also provided helpful advice about the most popular flavors and which ones were best as gifts. Upon walking in, there was a male employee sitting at the table on his phone, didn't think much of it, till he quickly stood up and went behind the counter. Another employee was behind the counter and very nice. She helped describe some flavors for me, which was helpful! The flavors are delicious!! The only issue that I have is the freshness. I didn't eat one till I got home, which was about 5 hours later and it crumbled and cracked on the first bite. I was expecting a soft and airy bite since I had just bought it hours ago. It's only saving grace was the flavor! They are sweet and some flavors do stand out! They had Ube flavor, which was surprising! Rarely see this flavor offered! I would highly suggest only getting the amount of cookies you plan to eat the same day because the next day it was drier, but the flavor still good. I still have plans to eat them all! The shop is cute and was very clean. It was not busy for a busy day in Georgetown! It's a little hidden from the main road and the construction across from the shop doesn't help. If they put a cute sign out closer to the road, it may attract more customers. Tucked away in an alley right across from the Dean & DeLuca outdoor patio, this patisserie offered uniquely flavored macarons. The macarons were okay. I feel like none of the flavors I got were memorable. I really liked the variety they have available here, but I don't think any of them really blew me away. I guess if I had to pick a favorite it'd be a tie between the Fruity Pebbles (a fun twist to one of my favorite childhood breakfast cereals) & the Wedding Almond (had a delicate, smooth flavor of marzipan). A couple of my macarons had a stale outer shell & I feel like the pastry filling in some of them were leaning more towards the blander side of the flavor spectrum. I think I would've enjoyed it better if the flavors were a little bolder (e.g. blood orange could taste a bit more citrus-y). I'd try it again -- I hear they usually have seasonal flavors that are worth a try. read more

I was visiting DC and on the last day, we decided to take a stroll in Georgetown before driving home. I went to Olivia Macaron and bought 2 boxes with 7 macarons each for my friend and myself. I was excited to eat a macaron after a 4 hour drive and I picked what I thought will be my favorite flavor - Pina colada. It was extremely disappointing. The macaron was stale, and was at least a day old. On top of that, it was bland with no hint of pineapple flavor! Then I had another - Wedding Almond- and again, it was stale. Can't comment on the flavor because eating a stale macaron is just so unsatisfying that I didn't try to ascertain if the flavor was acceptable. Overall, completely disappointed that I had to pay nearly $3 for each macaron that was stale and slated for the trash. read more

This place is an ok stop for macarons. I was disappointed in the lack of flavors, aside from the fruity pebbles, which seems to be a popular option in the DC area. What was really annoying was that there were only five flavors that I wanted. When asked if there was a vessel to hold five instead of seven which was listed on their menu, I was told in order to get anything other than a plastic sleeve -which would lead to a crumbled mess of fancy and expensive cookies- I needed to get seven. So now I'm really jaded and will likely go elsewhere for my macaron craving. Ok I finally tried the macarons. Although pretty, they are pretty tasteless. Expensive macarons tbh but they offer a variety of flavors such as honey lavender, strawberry & blueberry cheesecake, and wedding almond. The honey lavender is supposedly popular but it just tasted super flowery and none of the three of my friends liked it. I liked rose though. The best was the cheesecake macarons! After a nice walking through Georgetown, I came across this macaroon store. I was met with a vibrant and inviting interior. There were an interesting variety of flavors when i came, ranging from London Fog to Rose to Salted Caramel. I had a difficult time picking which one I wanted to try, but I decided on pistachio. It was pretty good, rich in flavor and just the right texture! The shop rotates flavors depending on the season, so i am excited to see what they have to offer next. Price-wise, it was a pricey as expected for a single macaron (~$3). However, I feel like it's on par with other macaron shops. I would still recommend coming to try out a few if you're in the area. It's conveniently located near restaurants nearby in Georgetown. I came through on a Sunday and I was the only one in the shop. A good quick treat option! read more

I walk by Olivia Macaron all the time and keep meaning to stop but haven't. Well, I finally decided too and that was a good life decision. The shop is super cute and the staff is amazingly friendly. I really enjoyed talking with them. The macarons are delicious and have the perfect ratio of crunch to creme. I tried the salted caramel, wedding almond, pistachio, and gingerbread. Small store with beautiful interior and cool displays by the window. The macaroons themselves are average. Ordered the red velvet, fruity pebbles, cassis, pistachio, blood orange, and cherry blossom. The red velvet was very good. Fruity pebbles is fun, and the rest are mediocre. Service is bad. The store was not crowded but our service provider was rushing us. Decent Macarons. I got their seasonal drink with a macaron on it. She did such a sloppy job with that drink, I could go to Dunkin' Donuts and pay less. "Taste" is totally subjective so i will refrain from that but I enjoyed tasting all the different flavors. The almond flavor was my favorite. Pistachio was a close second. A small, cute corner store with beautiful decorations and amazing macaroons. They have a great selection of flavors and the majority are spectacularly flavor-packed and delicious. The service is also phenomenal -- my friend and I stopped by about ten minutes before they closed, but the staff was still super friendly and helpful. We got a box of seven and tried the blueberry cheesecake, lemon, raspberry, and red velvet, and they were all fantastic. My favorite was the raspberry, and his was the red velvet. It's definitely a bit pricey, but on par with most other shops that sell macaroons. I will most certainly be headed back here soon. read more

The American Twist advertised on the flyer I picked up was certainly right, the fillings and even the macaron shells themselves were far too sweet. I also prefer a bit chewier or airier macarons and these were a little too crisp. The flavor choices at Tysons were lacking in citrus and any brighter or tarter flavors. If anyone has ever really had a traditional macaron, don't get one here. You will be disappointed by texture and outraged by the sweetness. read more

Store was closed over 10 minutes before posted closing time. They posted a bag for sale on toogoodtogo an hour before they closed, so I purchased it and started driving. It took me 30 minutes to get there and I spent $10 on parking. The instructions on toogoodtogo was to pick up a bag of expiring macarons right before closing (8pm) so that's what I did. I got there right before 7:50 and the doors were locked and the lights were off. It didn't even look like there was anyone in there, so it must have been closed a while prior. Anybody who lives in DC knows what a pain in the ass it is to get to Georgetown. Very disappointed. There was also another group outside who said they got here at 7:20 and it was already closed. read more

We went here with a large group before, and it was ok. Each macaron was pretty expensive: $2.50 for each one. And, for how good it tasted, I'm not sure if it was worth it. The macaroons tasted good, but the texture was dry. It wasn't as airy and moist as your typical macaron. However, the staff was helpful, and the atmosphere was colorful and vibrant. They even have an elevator for those with wheelchairs and otherwise would have had a much difficult time getting up the stairs, which was pretty cool. I've never seen a wheelchair elevator at a shop before, so I was fascinated. Overall, this place is pretty good. It might be better to get a coffee and hang out rather than rapidly drain your wallet on macarons. read more

Lycee, Almond, and Champagne Macarons were the order of the day and every single one had an airy, delicate, crumbly crust and a rich, full flavored filling. ***** 3 1/2 Stars ***** ---------------- This past Saturday we were in Georgetown and since I had bookmarked both Olivia and Macaron Bee, I decided to get macarons from both places and do a taste test. One thing to note about Olivia---its storefront isn't directly on M Street. Rather, it is in the alley way where Dean and DeLuca has its outdoor dining area. Olivia is right across from that dining area. The shop is sleek and modern-looking. We both liked the looks of it. Olivia had a larger selection of macarons than did Macaron Bee. We got a half-dozen macarons which (if I recall correctly, cost $14 + change) were more expensive than Macaron Bee. We got 2 raspberry, 2 pistachio, 1 vanilla and 1 rose. I cut and pasted the results of our taste tests for the raspberry and pistachio ones that I had put in my review of Macaron Bee: The pistachio from Macaron Bee was paler in color, which means that they use less green food dye. The pistachio flavoring was there but wasn't very strong. The outer shell of the macaron lacked the crispiness that is expected in macarons. As for the pistachio ones from Olivia---they got the outer shell right as it did have that crispiness to it. The pistachio flavoring was a notch better than Macaron Bee. My husband taste tested the raspberry ones. He found both to be about equal when it came to flavoring but gave Olivia a slight edge as it seemed to have the whole package when it came to macarons---a crispier shell and good flavor. I tried the vanilla one and thought that it had good vanilla flavoring yet it would have been nice if the flavoring were a little more intense, as vanilla items often get weakly flavored. The rose one was spot on when it came to flavoring as the flavoring was intense. It was very clear that this was rose-flavored! So, when I'm in Georgetown and want macarons, I would consider going to Olivia again. However, Dean and DeLuca now sells the Sweet Lobby's macarons which we both consider to be so far, the best macarons we've had in DC. That might just give us pause and detour us into D&D. Olivia has good macarons with consistent flavoring and texture so you can't go wrong there, yet for us, Sweet Lobby wins out. read more

I didn't experience the super crumbly-ness that other reviewers had experienced... but I also ate them a day later because I passed out from the food coma as a result of my dinner. Whoops. The kiosk has a simplistic yet beautiful presentation and is situated right in front of the Victoria's Secret store on the upstairs level. It seems like they rotate the flavors around especially since they're not baked on-site (I'm assuming someone delivers them every morning to the kiosk). Why is this place here? Like honestly, WHY? I should've caught the flag that no one was buying anything from this store but I unfortunately couldn't resist trying it out. I was told the store in DC had good ones, but if this is the quality of the macarons in the DC location, I need to open up a macaron shop to stomp on these jokers. So bad. Ok. Where to start? First off, you really need to look at the pictures to see what I'm talking about. These pieces of circular garbage are hollow. Like you can stare straight into the heart of darkness hollow. If you know macarons, they should be nice and full, firm, and have a slight chew to them. It felt like I was eating brittle shells of bone dust. As I picked up the macaron it CRACKED. The innermost section wasn't even chewy. Macarons should be balanced in shell and filling. Disregarding the failure of a shell, the filling flavor was way too strong even if the shell was full, especially the blueberry one. The shell is flavorless. And you're charging $2.50 each for these pieces of trash? After eating one I had to FORCE myself to eat the rest to not waste what I purchased. Dear Lord was that hell. If I had to give a true value, these should be sold for $0.50 each. I'm not even a macaron connoisseur. 0.5/10, scum of the earth thievery of a macaron shop.
