This is just the start of a shady experience with this tow yard and the San Pablo Police. A friend got pulled over pulling into her driveway. She is a grandmother on a fixed income. Officer wanted her driver's license, it wasnt on her person/ in house, easily attainable/he denied her getting it out, began to search car/trunk(illegally)said he wouldn't tow her car. He called tow company,Oliver's shows up, take her keys/officer refuses to give her the key chain it was on, We asked 3 times for the key chain, finally got it. Olivers couldnt tow the vehicle due to the way cars on street were parked, & lenghth of tow truck etc. So that would mean the Oliver's driver can not complete the task of towing the vehicle, and the officer really wants to take her car from her, HOW ARE THE POLICE./TOW CO. GOING TO ACCOMPLISH THIS? AND HOW ARE THE POLICE AND THE TOW COMPANY GOING TO STAY WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE VEHICLE CODE/LEGAL BOUNDRIES/MORAL BOUNDRIES(SUCH AS NOT PULLING ILLEGAL MOVES WITHOUT BEING FOUND OUT OR HELD ACCOUNTABLE) AND HOW FAR CAN EITHER PLAYER GO IN ORDER TO TAKE THIS GRANDMA'S CAR OUT OF HER DRIVEWAY WITHOUT GOING JUST A BIT TOO FAR AND NO LONGER BEING PROFFESSIONAL/RESPECTABLE/TRUSTWORTHY? After an hour and we were wondering what the heck they were doing? Then we see the police officer leave, the tow driver take the tow truck down the street and come back and drive the car out of the driveway and down the street.(Car was being towed for being out of registration) So here's are the questions that need to be addressed. What were the officers last orders about the untowable car in the driveway to the tow person since the officer was leaving the scene, and the officers usually remain till the car has been secured on the tow truck. Was the officer skipping out early, but then again, the car wasnt towed it was driven away. Was the tow guy being a scammer and now that the police were gone & he had the keys and he slithering out with the car..and doing what with it..ESPECIALLY BECAUSE WE HAD ASKED THE TOW DRIVER/POLICE BEFORE THIS ACTION TOOK PLACE FOR PAPER WORK/RECEIPT FROM THEM SO WE HAD DOCUMENTATION OF THE TOW. The answer was,"Nah! It's going to Oliver's." Oh really, is that right? As I recall, you get a copy of a legitimate document referred to by the tow/police people as a 187. It details any major damage etc to the car as well as the contents in the vehicle. You get a copy and the tow yard does not operate without these,it's like their bible, and I suppose there may be a copy for the police, so if I know this, why are they not aware of this. THEY ARE, and pretended we get nothing. There's definitely a reason they allowed this lie in front of one another. OR the officer told the driver to drive it out, but he had to leave first because he couldn't be witness to breaking the law, allowing the tow driver to operate an out of reg vehicle on the road. So I want answers to who said and did what? The car did not arrive at Oliver's for quite a while so what was he doing, joy riding? Taking off the catalytic converter? Because the tow place didnt even know they had the car yet, said they'd have the driver call when he showed up. We are literally 1 minute from Oliver's. The tow guy actually hung up when we called about him driving off in the car. He called back right away and admitted it was driven off. SO THE TOW DRIVER IS GOING TO HAVE TO SAY WHY HE DROVE THE CAR AWAY AND THE COP IS GOING TO HAVE TO SAY WHY DID HE LEAVE THE SCENE AND WHERE DID HE LEAVE HIS ORDERS STANDING WITH THE TOW GUY, AND YOU KNOW DAMN WELL IT WAS DEVISED BETWEEN THE TWO AND THE COP LET HIM OPERATE AN ILLEGAL VEHICLE ON THE ROAD, BREAKING THE LAW,THE SAME REASON HE WAS TAKING GRANDMAS CAR AWAY FROM HER, BUT HE DIDNT COVER HIS TRACKS AND DID ALOT OF ILLEGAL STUFF(ILLEGAL SEARCH AS WELL). A TOW COMPANY HAS TO OPERATE WITH LICENSED TOW VEHICLES AND IF THE JOB IS NOT DOABLE THEN THEY ARENT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THEIR DRIVERS TAKE AUTHOURITY TO SNEEK YOUR CAR OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND DRIVE OFF WITH IT AND NOT GIVE YOU A RECEIPT AND NOT GET YOUR CAR THERE FOR A LONG TIME, AND BE COMPLETELY SHADY THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE THEIR CORRECT ADDRESS ON LINE, THIS PLACE IS BAD NEWS read more

My moped was stolen in Oakland and recovered by the El Cerrito police Dept. It was then towed by Olivers Towing and taken out to their tow yard in Richmond. It ended up taking me several days to get all the releases from Oakland and El Cerrito and then make it out to Olivers. To start out with this place is impossible to find or get to using public transportation. It took all day to get the releases and then make it out there. I got there a few minutes after their closing time. I was told that the after hours fee to bring my moped out to the fence would be more than the storage fee for another day. Th e tow fee was already $215 for the tow and $95 per day. Mind you I paid $125 for the moped. the fee for bringing it out to the fence would have been $115. Never the less when I finally was there in front of them they told me the fee was going to be $515. I had called and spoken to them on the phone before going out there and they didn't mention anything about only accepting cashier's checks, money orders or cash. Debit and credit card would only be accepted for fees of less than $100. I had only brought my credit card because that was the form of payment I had at the time and didn't know they wouldn't accept it. Going out to an ATM or my bank would have taken hours and I would have been charged another daily fee. they were rude and unhelpful and frankly mean about the whole thing.. I felt like I was being treated like I had stolen my own Moped. The lady at the front counter lied to me about who the boss was and when he came out he started asking me about whether or not my moped was of good quality. Why? Because he thought he could give it to his grandchildren after I signed it over because I wasn't going to be able to afford the outrageous fees they were charging me? In the end they said I could sign it over to them right then and it would only go against my credit rating for $850 as opposed to the thousands it would accumulate if I waited. What an incredible rip off. These people are worse than the person who stole my moped originally. Thieves in sheep's clothing. El Cerrito should cancel their contract with this horrible company. There were other issues I had with them too but in light of the length of this review I think I have said enough. Too bad I can't give them 0 stars. The worst tow truck company in CA. Horrible customer service, rude people who lie about their fees, etc. Don't go there unless you want a hellish experience that will literally leave you in tears. read more

Was on my way to drop off my 6year old at school in the slow lane rush hour traffic and a large towtruck in a hurry was tailgating me and honking a very loud horn and driving very agressivly.
