My Tesla needed a tow, we were blocking traffic and it was imperative the car be moved. AAA was busy so they gave us an option to call out a contracted tow service, they would be out a lot quicker, however, you pay up front and then AAA reimburses you. Kook, with Oliver's Towing out of Richmond, and Vallejo was there in just a few minutes. You could tell he knew exactly what he was doing, had my car up on his flat bed in no time. Told us to get in, he would take us where we wanted to go. We were greeted by his adorable side kick, Ginger! She was too cute, and his cab was ice cold, such a wonderful feeling after being in the hot sun for an hour. Kook, could not have been more cool if he tried. Just a total professional through and through. He got our car off the flat bed with ease and waited with us while we figured out how to get my Tesla going again. I had two separate interactions with Oliver's tow, once on the phone when I called to receive information about my car and once when I actually went to go pick up my car and the experiences were different. This was my first time having my car towed so I had no idea what to expect overall. The phone call was unpleasant and provided me with very little information. I needed to get my bill of sale out of the glove compartment and was told that they were closed so it would be a $99 gate fee. I chose to print out a brand new bill of sale online and wait to pick up my car the following Monday. Fast forward to Monday. I arrived with everything needed to retrieve my car. The clerk was a lot more pleasant than the receptionist who answered that Saturday thank God. They charge $185 just to tow the car and $75 per day storage. They only accept cash, money order, cashiers check or up to $100 on a debit card so I had to leave and go find an ATM. Thankfully I know the area and there's a liquor store with an ATM on Market Ave. My total came to $410 for 3 days, crazy right!! The front desk clerk definitely made the experience a lot more digestible. It had been a realllly expensive day and she was empathetic rather than what you typically get at offices or tow yards. Hercules PD had my truck towed my these people. They obtained a fraudulent "Title Lien Sale" pretty quickly, as they decided to value it at "Under $500" (nobody at California DMV verifies this or verified anything these slimeballs wrote on the paperwork, ESPECIALLY the part about informing me of this, which clearly they didn't) A vehicle valued under $500, & alleged to be "Abandoned", tends to move like greased lightning thru California DMV Title Lien Sale process. Also gone is a full sized engine-driven welding generator, a full sized Oxy- Acetylene torch setup, well over 100 feet of copper welding leads, several buckets of ironworking tools, drills, grinders, several high speed rotary tools & all supplies for them, several long power cords, rigging & shackles, portable air compressor, a "Gearvendors Overdrive Unit" & GM TurboHydramatic 400 series adapters for short tail & medium tail units (alone worth over $3500+ all day & those sell fast, trust me) Plus tons and tons of other tools and personal property, too much to list here. I never saw a single thing or my truck ever again. However, I plan to sue them back into the stone ages. You see......crooks committing malfeasance thru fraud, tend to overlook a few things. They never gave me any paperwork ever to date. The junkyard they allegedly sold it to?.... Well, let's just say, lots of people saw a few things. It was given a new title & now it's gone. The official vehicle history from DMV....does not come close to adding up. The dates are all conflicting demonstrably with each other & the sequence of events is impossible. Anyone can easy see how riddled with overlapping conflicts this became once they got it. They have a crappy history too. It should be an awfully good time watching them grasp for straws as they drown in court. My lawyer says they have no possible defense & doesn't see how they can explain everything that is sideways here, or how they can possibly not lose in court, just for showing up. Remember, to prevail in a Civil Court Action against anyone, it's not "Beyond any & all reasonable doubt" type of proof that's required. It's only a "PREPONDERENCE OF FACTS & SUPPORTING EVIDENCE" that gets you over the finish line. I am in disbelief of the service I received at this establishment! I was supposed to pick up my car because the cops towed it and had it under evidence when they finally released it they told me to go pick it up and so I called the tow yard to see if I could still make it because the police station took a long time to give me the release form. It was 4:40 when I called the tow yard. When I arrived at the tow yard i drove past the gate and the employee (a white tall male in his 50s) answered the door to the office. He asked how he can help me and I told him I needed to pick up my car then I handed him the form and he took it, right after he began to yell at saying I had to wait outside the gate but when I called no one told me that. Then he proceeded to yell some more at me and disrespect me calling me outta my name then he crumbled the paper and threw it in my face closed the door and told to come back tomorrow. He was professional & told me the price and I agreed. I took about an hour to get to me due to traffic. He promptly & professionally had my van hooked up and we were on the way. The truck was clean and comfortable. We had a nice chat on the way to my destination. He placed the truck precisely in the repair yard and packed up his stuff. Manager Dylan doesn't know any of his "rules" that they have or has no idea of the amount you have to pay has to look at phone in order to help you. Also tried calling the cops on me because I was "trespassing" even though all I wanted to do is get my personal belongings with my father and help my father translate anything he didn't understand. But since my name isn't shown that I'm the owner only my father could retrieve my items. The only people that are helpful and nice is the guys on the golf carts that take you to the car. Another thing to add on is that for some reason certain days they don't charge you making seem like they make up the price on the spot which is ridiculous. And the final thing that makes it seem such like a scam they charge you cash and keep a certain percentage and no one would know because they're a "family owned businesses" that is also a corporation with no one you can contact if you have problem. So I recommend don't ever use their services. BEWARE! They will damage your vehicle, then deny any knowledge of it! My vehicle was stored for 2 days in Oliver's Tow Yard. When I picked it up, the vehicle had been vandalized. The interior had been ransacked and several small items were missing, the lights had been turned on, the gas cap cover had been pried off, the fuel fill line had been cut, and the gas tank drained. The yard attendant told me that several vehicles had been vandalized in a break-in and helped me get my vehicle running with a temporary fix. When I contacted the owner to make a claim, he denied any responsibility and said that he believed the vehicle was already damaged when it was delivered to him. Seriously, what do you expect when you find yourself in a tow yard; not a good feeling right?! Well, in me and my husband's case it was bitter sweet. Bitter cuz the car we just bought got stolen on Thanksgiving morning, not even 3 days of having it in our possession since we bought it and having to pay for towing fee & storage after having some jerks steal it from us. Sweet because the RPD was able to retrieve our stolen car and contacted us right away! The woman who helped us was friendly and made the whole process very easy. The gentleman who showed us the car to check if everything was okay was also friendly and conversing with us while my husband checks out everything. TIP: When you see the huge sign, you'd have to drive down the road all the way to the back to get to their office. BE CAREFUL: THEY DID NOT HONOR THEIR QUOTED PRICE I called Oliver's Towing in advance to have an abandoned car removed from a rental property I own. I was quoted $350 for the private property tow and I agreed to the price; the tow was to take place at 8:30AM. The car is in a driveway, right off the street. On the day of the two, the driver was 2 hours late, and then after looking at the vehicle said he had to call his boss, who told him that the price for the two is now $1000. Nobody is in a happy place when their car ends up in a tow yard, but all things considered, I had an excellent experience today. The two women working this morning were courteous, professional, kind, and knowledgable. And, considering their company was dealing with the overturned 18 wheeler on I-80, they handled our mini-crisis wonderfully. Our truck was stolen from Oakland and recovered in Richmond, and beyond the major inconvenience this caused, I'm glad my truck was kept safely at Oliver's tow yard. Our car was stolen and stripped and abandoned from a parked location while with my daughter in a city distant from us- the registered owners. EVERYONE at Oliver's Towing has been really great through the insurance claim process--nice, polite and helpful. I don't know the name of everyone I spoke with --Robin, Stephanie, Richard are some, but this company made a very bad situation for us at least tolerable. I suddenly realized that the registration and proof of insurance may have still been in the stripped down car. We were very pleased with Oliver's tow service we had a issue with Towing our families camper to the designated location of our family repair shop, need i remind you that COVID 19 is in full effect right now and we needed to have a extra ride/ car to pick our family up to transport us to our repair shop.. Well, let me say that our can pick up was late 25 to 30 minutes! And Oliver's tow had already arrived n time! I've had horrible experiences with towing companies - in particular with Certified Towing in Richmond and P&S Towing in San Francisco. Oliver's Towing Co. is vastly different than the rest; their sincerity and good business practices stems from their management all the way down to their tow truck drivers. There's a reason why they contract with so many local businesses and with various Police Departments. If you're ever in the East Bay Area and happen to need a tow, don't hesitate to give these guys a call. Went to an event at the Craneway February 17, 2020. There was no designated parking for the disabled, so a Richmond Police Officer told me to park anywhere. I did just that. I parked my car in a lot on Hall Avenue in a disabled spot, between two disabled parking spaces. I put my disability placard on the mirror. When I came back from the event, this towing company was just starting to put my car on their towing bed. I asked them to please stop, I was leaving right then and there, and that I am disabled. How would I get home? No empathy from these guys. They kept putting my car on the truck bed. They would have taken it to their yard if I hadn't asked how much to get my car back then and there. $95! If they had taken it to the yard, it would have been well over $300. A total scam if you ask me. They figure you are stupid enough to let them take it to the yard.
