This is a -5 (negative 5) star review. They are awful!!! I moved to my community in 2004 and called a couple of times to get someone's car towed because they were parked in my space. I called a total of two times and once they tried to talk me out of getting the car towed. The second time they said they were coming and didn't. But apparently, they will tow a car for a white male, which I found out from a neighbor. They should be willing to tow for anyone, who owns a property. Straight scammers they towed one of my cars and I ended up selling it to them instead of taking it out. First I paid almost 500$ to give them a car that worked perfectly fine but they wanted to charge me 1200$ to get it out. I only paid 1000$ for the car so it wasn't worth it to me. After getting a bill of sale and everything I kept getting tickets from fast track over 350$ in unpaid tickets. They refused to take accountability and then told me if i wanted a copy of the bill of sale for the dmv that I would need to pay a 150$ print out fee. They did this so that they could charge my insurance and extra night's stay. Disaimer: I was a bit infuriated when writing this so please excuse my language. I apologize before hand. I was in an accident the other night where my car got totaled. I already dont trust tow companies and this company gave me more reason to continue not trusting them. I called my own tow company that I've been using for years who I do trust because NOTHING has ever gone missing with them. This company on the other hand. ALOT of my stuff went missing, and it's not like I meant to leave my stuff in there. I was taken away by an ambulance and the Richmond PD officers did not let me back in my car to grab personal belongings for whatever reason. They, the driver, the people in the yard, I dont know but somewhere along the route my stuff magically disappeared. Right over a hundred dollars, my Samsung charger (if any of you have a USB type C you know how expensive those are especially if you buy the samsung brand,) weed and a couple of my jackets. Not just one, but two of them. Which I'm not surprised that they are missing because they were northface. So to the driver or person who took them. Fuck you. That is having no respect for your clients, especially when I didnt even contract or ask for this company. More when they see how bad the car was! I hit a street pole going about 45/50, the car was damn near torn in half and they still had the nerve to steal my stuff. I knew this would happen but I couldn't take my stuff out. Make sure if you do request a tow from this company you remove all of your personal belongings and leave nothing expensive because you more than likely will not find it when you go grab it. And what's more frustrating is that when I went to the office to say something about it all I was told is that how the car was picked up was how it came in. I mean I'm not tripping about the weed, it was only $20 worth, but my cash $ I had was money for a gift I was going to buy my son. The north face jackets had sentimental value because the person who gave them to me is no longer around. Car was towed Friday, needed to wait until Monday to get a release slip from the police station because they're closed on the weekend. Went to Certified Towing, and it was $880 to get the car back. That's half the value of my car. He said if I didn't pay it, it would accumulate to $3,000, and then they'd send debt collectors after me for $3,000. He also wouldn't give me an itemized bill until I looked up the statute (AB-519) that says he has to give me one. This is extortion, pure and simple. They can set whatever price they want because there is no competition. read more

My car was towed by them, and the rack and pinion on my car is all bent. Additionally, when I picked up the car, I could barely start it. Had to turn the steering wheel abnormally to start up my car. My mechanic also found some leaks underneath. Overall, the cost of damage came up to $5800 to fix my car, because they damaged the car during the tow. I don't recommend this place. My hand brake barely works as well. On top of things, the entrance is in the back. Which is highly not visible at 10pm at night. I waited in the front, and they didn't even have the courtesy to come and let me know. Sat in the car for almost half an hour without notification. Had to get a flashlight to shine on the door to see a handwritten notice that the entrance was in the back. Poor courtesy. I didn't mind paying for the $300 tow and storage. My car was towed at 3 in the morning for a "red zone" violation. Nobody called to have it towed, but BRANDON the white boy worker who is a tow truck driver, says he regularly drives by where I parked and got towed so that he can literally prey and wait for somebody to be blocking the little red corner by a inch. I had to pay $450, $230 for towing, $130 for gate(?) fee, and $100 for a storage fee when my car was there for less than 4 hours. They also broke my bumper while towing it cause I'm sure they are rushing to get your car out of there. Then tried to lie and say my bumper was like this before towing it. Brandon and the manager who's name I didn't catch but was a older middle eastern looking dude, then started to get me to fight them because I used foul language after they told me they weren't sure they would be able to fix it. This place is taking advantage of people during unforeseen times (COVID-19). They literally went into an apartment complex during the night and towed a vehicle parked in the red zone b/c parking has been over crowded due to the shelter in place. Not only was the car NOT BLOCKING traffic or lanes to prevent fire from entering but the car happen to belonged to an essential worker. After asking around we found out that the property manger didn't make the call. These tow companies are entering apartments they have contracts with and are towing cars b/c they need money when they should only be towing in state of emergencies!!! This is low and so unfortunate. My car was in great condition prior to towing.. Certified towing broke my radiator the key gets stuck in the ignition. My transmission shift stick won't go on Park all the way.. so of course the key won't come out. What can I do is there anything I can do to make them responsible? This company has zero customer service and is only interested in making as much money as they possibly can from towing your vehicle. If you get towed request a copy of the towing fee and access notice that they are REQUIRED to provide you ... I can guarantee you won't get it! Their drivers don't even know what this REQUIRED form is. They also have their hours posted as 24 hours on every website you pull up for them, which again is a lie they are only open Monday - Friday 8am-5pm anything after that they will charge you an "after hours" fee. Oh and not to mention their dispatch person Kathy is unable to give you accurate fees OR time of arrival for one of their drivers to release your vehicle. read more

This company sent us a bill in 2010 for towing a car owned by a renter of a house we were hired to renovate. The car had been abandoned on the street by the old tenant. They obtained our name from a permit pulled to do the work & randomly sent us a huge bill. We called the tow company and told them we do not own the car and the name of the person who owned it. We explained we did not own or have anything to do with the car. We never heard from them again and we thought they discarded the bill and billed the correct person being the owner of the car, however in 2014 we see they submitted a bill to collections in our name! I called Certified after my car broke down at 1:30 a. m. I was told that I could expect a tow within 40 minutes. After over an hour went by I called to get the status of the driver's arrival and was told that they didn't have any record of my requesting a tow. So here I am at 3:30 a.m. waiting for a ride and abandoning my car on the side of the highway - to be dealt with later. I suggest you don't call this company. I was apprehensive about Certified Towing after reading negative reviews, but I had a good experience. My daughter was involved in a four car accident on interstate 80. This was on a Friday afternoon and her car was totaled. CHP called Certified Towing to remove her car. I went the next day on Sat. to remove items from her car but they are closed on weekends. I also had talked to a female dispatcher over the phone and she told me there would be a 120.00 fee to remove personal items from car. I visited the tow yard on Monday morning and to my surprise the guy in the office allowed me and my daughter to walk in the back to remove items from car at no charge. The guys who worked in the yard were friendly and gave us time and space. We didn't want the car anymore so we asked him if we could sell it to tow yard to take to salvage, they agreed. My daughter signed over the title and they charged us a total of 400.00 of which 230.00 was for towing. My daughter has towing insurance so we were able to get that money back from insurance company the same day. read more

My car wouldn't start and it was stuck in an awkward driveway. Mark from certified towing was there in less than 15 minutes. Instead of just hooking up the car immediately, he spent a few minutes trying to start the car to save me the expense of the tow. It wouldn't start so he carefully loaded by car onto the flatbed pulling the car uphill out of the driveway. As far as I can tell, nothing but professionals here. I am writing this review about Certified Towing based out of Richmond California, for the excellent and quick service I received. My car broke down on the way to work in Richmond. Imagine sitting on the shoulder of the freeway without a way to get your car off the road, A tow truck happen to pass me by, I waived at him, but he was already busy with a car on his truck when he passed, but believe it or not he exited the freeway to see if I was OK. I told him that I needed a tow, he said he would be back in 20 minutes, and would get me where I needed to go, sure enough he was back in 20 minutes, picked up my car which required a flatbed tow. The scary thing was my, mechanic is in Hayward. The Driver towed my car all the way to my mechanic, called me directly when the car was dropped off, all without me having to be along for the ride. The tow rate was great considering how far they towed my car, why? I don't have AAA. The tow from Richmond could have cost me an awful lot of money considering the distance, the rate for towing was excellent, the service was and perfect. I love my car, and to know that I did not have to worry about it while it was being towed made all the difference in the world. Great rates, great service and very professional. Horrific place. Had my car stolen, came to pick it up at the next available business hours (17 hours after recovery) and they charged me $185 (for 3.1 miles of towing) and $60 to store it over night. It's one of those gotcha situations, and they act like their hands are tied but really they just revel in the police sending them unnecessary business so they can profit off of victims. read more

I used Certified Tow yesterday, after waiting 2 hours the day before, after being turned down by AAA because my ignition switch maybe out and you can't take the car out of park. So the AAA driver told me to call Mercedes Road Service which I should of called anyway, but when I did they told me how to get it out of gear, and little did I know but sent out another AAA driver, who wasn't able to get there before the dealer closed so I had to leave my car out on the street in downtown Albany all night.
