We didn't have any food this time because I had to wait for the tailor to finish putting a new zipper on my coat. So my fiancee and I had a few cocktails. What used to be a favorite restaurant that we used to go to fairly regularly will be to not going at all due to the last several poor visits, w the food being under cooked,lack of fresh and even edible ingredients where in are last visit the avocado in my wrap was rotten and black. upon bringing my concerns to my server as well as management, I was dismissed even with my food poisoning concern. We were looking for a place on our way back from an Illini game in Champaign. About an hour north we thought of stopping g in Kankakee. We looked a a place somewhat close to route 57. We search some reviews and settled on Oliver's. Boy were we surprised. We ordered. Food came out in 5 min. All of our food was huge portions and prices what I would consider a great value. I've been going here for years now and I'd consider myself a regular. Only complaint is about the "no knives" change they've recently made. I mean if there was one thing you could do to say you are a cheap restaurant, it would be to wrap forks without a knife because they get tossed or stolen. Amazon has 36 knives for $24.99. You can buy 200 knives for 274 and you're problem would be solved. Part of owning and running a restaurant is dealing with loss. And losing silverware is the same type of loss as dropping a glass or plate. It's just gonna happen. Paul, fess up the couple bucks and give your customers knives without them having to ask for it. read more

Not really ever being a huge fan of Oliver's, this isn't a place that I venture to very often. However, because it's a bar and grill, it's a decent spot to meet up with a mid size group of friends. The food options here are decent but could use some variance or a "specials" menu. I'm just bored by the options. I usually get the boneless wings and I like that they are made in house and not from a frozen bag bought at a bulk supply store. Onion Rings had good flavor with the tempura batter but could use a bit linger in the fryer. We've been fortunate to have Brett as our server every time we've came in. He's attentive, friendly, and makes a GREAT drink, especially the dirty martini! He probably needs a raise, seems like he's always there and always running his ass off! Great guy. read more

I was anxious to try the new Oliver's on Station and so close to home so I stopped in for lunch. I had a Mediterranean Salad that I thought was fantastic. It was presented well, service was great and price was reasonable. I loved the salad selections, it's not often I find a place close to have a great salad. I may change my rating in the future when I have a chance to sample more but I would recommend and will visit again in the near future. Well. Been back a few times. Great place great menu but they need a new chef. Food just seems to be going down hill. If I didn't live so close I would pass on it. I had shrimp fajitas. Not so good. Not so good shrimp in a Chinese syrupy sauce. read more

Twice now I have been disappointed. First I order a panini and received a wrap. It took the waitress too long to return to the table so I just ate the wrap. She offered nothing to remedy the situation when she finally did come back. Second visit I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap and the chicken was precooked and very dry, the lettuce was the bitter core of a head of iceberg lettuce, and there was hardly any dressing. Very disappointing. I prefer the location in Bradley. They seem to care more about the food they are serving. read more

Went here last night and it was terrible. Starting with the very slow service then got worse from there. Took forever to get our food which came out one plate at a time and the appetizers came last with one being un eatable (burnt pretzel). My grandson ordered a pizza off the kids menu and didn't get that till the rest of us were almost done eating. We shared our food with him so he could eat with us. I consider us regulars there as we usually go every Thursday to one of there locations in town but after last night we are done. It is absolutely horrible how it is ran. We eat out all the time. Oliver's in Bradley is a favorite of ours. The Kankakee location makes you navigate stairs or go in a side door, and it's smaller and more bar like. But oh, the food! It might be better than Bradley. In particular, the French onion soup is a wow. Service is generally good too. Good comfort good. Great prices. Nice service. What more is there to say? I'd write more but I'm getting hungry. read more

Ordered a pot pie for delivery. Received an aluminum container filled with creamy chicken soup and what seemed to be a browned piece of round bread on top. Note to the cooks and management at Oliver's, a PIE has a crust on the sides and bottom, not just one floating on the top. Very disappointed! read more

Being a traveler returning to his old homtetown, it was nice to find this little out of the way place. It had a loaded bloody Mary that wasn't to spice and filled to the brim with the condiments that make a good drink (celery, pickles olives, cheese and pepperoni). The 1/2 pound burger was done to medium as requested, pickles (crispy not limp) full slice of onion, tomatoes (farm fresh) a full serving of mayo on the side. The fries were hand cut fries fried to perfection and not done in week long oil. On top of that they have video gaming machines. (Now legal in illinois). I would have bet my first born son that this area would never get video gaming but this gives hope for a casino in Tennessee. read more

This is my carry-out experience 7/2015: Ok, I would just like to preface this review by saying that BBQ Fest is going on, so maybe their regular cook was there and not at Oliver's. Idrk, but the cook tonight did not resemble our initial experience. The baked Mac and cheese my husband ordered was runny and far from baked. The rib eye I ordered was flavorless, chewy, and very fatty. I know rib eye is marbled, but there's and difference between marbled and straight up fat. The mashed potatoes melted the styrofoam they came in, and I was afraid to eat them. The best thing about the whole meal was the green beans, but those even seemed from frozen. I can't believe this was the same restaurant. I will probably be back, because my first experience was so good, and I'm just writing this off as a fluke. If I have another experience like this I definitely won't be back. We basically wasted $60 tonight. This is my dine-in experience 5/2015: Friendly service, but slow. They had a wide selection of microbrews on tap, which I love. The ribs were very good. We went on a Saturday night when they were on special. My husband got the baked mac and cheese which he loved, added chicken. Even a friend recommended the mac and cheese. Overall we had a great experience would be back. read more

The food is good (except fries they are ALWAYS cold and hard- like they were double dipped in the oil) but the manager is a MAJOR BITCH!! My family will never buy food from this location again she has made us angry 1 too many times. This time around she made a mistake and blames us the customer!! How is she in charge? and this isn't the first time we have had problems with her. 2 other times she treated us like garbage not worth serving. She is very RUDE! and unfriendly! Also, I don't think I've ever had the same waitress twice. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep quitting just because working for that manager would be a nightmare. Service is also veeeerrrrryyyyy slow. Takes forever to get a waitress to take the order then forever to get the food and then you never see the waitress again until she brings the bill (and this happens with almost every waitress we've ever had). So don't go to this Oliver's go to the other one maybe they'll treat customers with respect there and deal with customers in a more timely manner. read more

When I lived in the area, and on returning visits, Oliver's (Bradley) was one of my favorite hangouts for good cocktails (rather rare in the area), sports, and catching up with friends and family. They always had a pretty good menu and decent service. So, I was very surprised and happy when I found out they had a Kankakee location--much closer to home for my return visits. The exterior is nothing to look at, but the inside was fine. Clean. Plenty of sports memorabilia, but not overly "sports bar." They still had the beloved martini and mixed drink list and a menu with a variety of options. This location even offered "featured drinks" for certain events, wine tasting, and trivia. My last few visits, our food orders were rarely correct, despite seeing the server take correct orders and correct orders on our ticket. More than once we were given overcooked or incorrect items. Overcooked spinach dip is not good, while the proper spinach dip was delectable. A couple times the servers noticed and submitted new orders. Otherwise, we overlooked it because the waitstaff and bartenders were clearly working their behinds off (Chip, Zack, Cherilyn?) and were set on making sure we were taken care of. The beer selection was great (from regular local domestics to local and regional craft beers) and the drinks remained top-knotch. Really, the margaritas, French Martini, Oliver's Martini, Bob Marley Long Island, Long Island Iced Tea, and whatever specialty drinks are featured have been perfect in taste and strength. Last week, they were fairly busy with the Cubs playoffs and a rivalry Blackhawks game both on. The food was particularly off. The kitchen staff, who obviously were out of sorts based on their inability to keep up with food orders and make what people ordered at the correct temperature or at the same time as the rest of the tables' party, was abusive to the poor servers who were trying to accommodate the customers. The bartender/server, Zack, was proactive and kind about the cooks being "off." We heard him ask if everything was okay and saw that his efforts were rebuffed. Another server came in when the rest of the customers were getting obviously frustrated. We heard her take something back to the kitchen and heard what sounded a lot like disrespectful language and dishes hitting the floor. Then, and this I've never witnessed before, the people in the kitchen left. I'm pretty sure food service was supposed to go later. I've definitely ordered later before. Obviously something odd occurred. They didn't open the following day. This was more than an "off night." This was blatant disregard for customers and fellow employees is shocking. We've now learned the front staff was punished and at least one job was lost in an effort to keep the kitchen staff employed. (What? Why? How? So many questions here...) It was a bummer to learn Chip left a while back. At least one other fantastic front-line staff member is out now. Minus the good service in the front, you're left with an unfriendly restaurant that shows sports and somehow makes a good menu mediocre at best. We'll dine, drink, and trivia elsewhere going forward. read more

Service was overworked and forgetful. When we walked in we were finally told to sit where we'd like. The first booth we went to sit in was still full of dirty dishes from the last people who dined in, felt weird looking around for a clean table. The burger I ordered wasn't very flavorful and looked to be just quickly thrown together, the bun was also soggy. I have been trying to give this place a chance because we love the Bradley one so much. But for some reason the Kankakee Oliver's is being very poorly ran. My family and I love the food at Olivers however every time we try the Kankakee location the food is subpar. And I can't figure it out. I have tried talking to the manager but she was no help what so ever the last time we were there. Tonight I tried calling 5 times and could not get an answer. So I called Bradley and ordered my food. Please if someone at Olivers could straighten out the Kankakee location that would be great. It's much closer to where we live and I would really like to be able to use that location. Went to Oliver's yesterday around 6:00 pm! Soup cheddar cheese was delicious! My hot wings were average at best! My wife's hamburger about 10 dollars was VERY small and over cooked and came with only a runny cup of Cole Slaw. Our friend had fish tacos and he said they were great! He ordered a small beer and they charged him $4.75 !!! Waited and waited for server to come back so we pay the bill! Asked her if the beer price was correct and she said yes! Both left her with over 25% tip just to get out of there without waiting for change! read more

I ordered the sampler and it was a big mistake. The onion rings were strange looking and undercooked, while the chicken tenders were too well done and I'm sure had been sitting around far too long under a heat lamp. They were white and bubbly with a small amount of buffalo sauce slabbed over them. Quesadillas, (if you can call them that) were filled with a small amount of cheese and the same crispy chicken as the tenders. A 1/10 for a food and 5/10 for service. read more

Epic fail. Ordered 2 pizzas and a side at 3:55pm, paid for it at 4:17 at 4:37 still no food and demanded my money back. When order said 20 minutes, 40 minutes later still no food. Manager/woman was acting like it would tell the truth about the situation, just kept saying I don't know what happens. I over heard the sat "Tiffany didn't want to..." could get the rest. Upon arrival I was there, another guy waiting for food and a guy drinking a beer, no other customers. 4 total staff up front and took 5+ minutes for them to even acknowledge my presence. I know they didn't even put order though as I saw the guy tossing my dough around in the back at 4:35 that's why I demanded my money back. I arrived early to wait for food, paying finalized at 4:17 on receipt. I could have pizza delivered in 40 minutes on a Wednesday at 4pm. Total failure that cost my kids, wife and myself to not get dinner until late and wasn't what I was paying for. The order was $31 plus change. I hope the GM Paul actually sees this and it will be swept under the rug and to know it's pretty common service like this at the Kankakee location, which we are done ordering and dining at. read more

Loved the Kankakee Oliver's when it opened. We actually used to go there twice a week. To my disappointment things keep going downward. Have gone several times at 11:30 am and the door was still locked so along with others we left. Finally started calling them so they could unlock the door because we realized they were inside. Hopefully that has been resolved. We have learned to tell the waitress to tell the cook not to burn our french fries. We are waited on very promptly and get our food quickly. There have been times recently that our food is cold. It takes 15 - 20 minutes when we are done eating to get the bill. Staff cannot get coupons or school cards discounted correctly. They don't seem to notice an empty glass. I sincerely hope the owner starts observing his business and takes an active part in correcting the problems. This place has a very good menu, always seating and parking available and clean inside.... but that means nothing if the good service isn't there. read more

When we ask why and pointed out a 6 person table that was open they informed our party of 4 that we could not sit there just in case they got a party of 6. I had the 1/2 Cuban Panini with house salad and cilantro lime dressing. The Panini was burnt and grease dripped from it. It had no flavor. The salad and dressing was tasteless. Then since I was not satisfied with my meal I decided to have dessert. The dessert was the worse of all. The brownie had was not a brownie, it was like a dry chocolate sponge cake that was microwaved. It quickly became rocks after about 30 seconds. I've been there before and the other entrees were just as tasteless and greasy. The servers are very good and they try hard and that's why I gave it 2 stars or else I would have given it a 1. The Oliver's in Bradley gives way better food then this 2nd store. read more
