Crazy Joe's Diner - Biscuits and gravy with two eggs on top! Yummy! Unending coffe and lemon water - Diners Near Me - Kankakee, Illinois

I love this little cafe it's very reasonable and consistent every time I go! You can't go wrong eating here!

We were just driving through Kankakee and looking for a good breakfast spot. With limited choices in the area and high reviews we decided to check it out. Don't be turned off with the iron bars on the windows.. this place truly is a hidden gem, so glad we came! We went on Father's Day for a party of 4 around 730am. We were immediately greeted by a bubbly hostess and seated at a comfy booth. The food was good! My fiancée and I shared the Bacon: served with 2 eggs (we chose scrambled), potato's, and upgraded to French toast! It was delicious!! The atmosphere is great.. the hostess was so welcoming, she ensured our coffees were filled and our needs were met. She constantly checked on us! Such a great diner! read more

Excellent food, friendly service. Cozy, traditional neighborhood dinner feel. On a Wednesday morning, I was the only eat-in customer. The waitress was busy at times with to-go order calls and other tasks, but always checked in on me and let me know when she might be in the back for a minute, making sure my coffee was typed off first. Oh, and the prices are very affordable. A similar breakfast I had yesterday at a comparable (also very good) local dinner was at least $3 more. Highly recommend! read more

My daughter complains to the waitress about her hashbrowns being burnt and they did nothing.. the waiter later told her she informed the cook and still nothing was done or said.. Services was very disappointing today!!! read more

Came here for breakfast while visiting area for a concer and this place is amazing. Food was great and our waitress was awesome. She explained the menu, offered us options and gave recommendations. Food was cooked perfect and tasted great. We almost thought they were closed, so glad we checked the door. I'll definitely make the drive to come back out here! read more

Crazy Joe's Diner - Amazing start to the day - Diners Near Me - Kankakee, Illinois

The food was really good the service was great the waitress was really good very attentive highly recommend going there

Always a good meal and service until 6/26, slower than usual, but when the food is good slow is fine. Food wasnt good at all this round. Server was forgetful and absent. Burger patty was DRY!!! DEAD!!! yuck, onion rings were eh. Try and get back up the level please, I did like this place a lot. read more

The wash machine area by the bathroom is still gross and disgusting!! Filthy towels on the floor that you have to step over to get to the bathroom.. WHY??? Server said it was only her second day... she did just fine. Soup was lemon chicken and rice. Usual fare. My husband had the French toast combo with scrambled eggs.. I had the Senior chopped steak with a baked potato. Unfortunately the veggies were canned! Why not use fresh or even frozen?? Salad was iceberg.. yuck! Please consider a spring mix or something else. So much more appealing. read more

Hidden gem. Inside is not much to look at but food is great. Had the patty melt which is a hand formed patty on rye. Delicious. Wife had the tenderloin, which was hand made with a light coating. Had plenty for take home. Fries came with both sandwiches, they were fresh cut and abundant. Enough if combined to serve 5. read more

Prices are very reasonable, food is very good. 3 piece cod dinner is good and portions are good.

Best waffles I have ever had! We were out here for a baseball tournament and happened upon it. Doesn't look like much but it's one of those local hidden gems! Took a bit of time to get the order but it was well worth it! read more

We had a party of 11. The service was very good. The bacon cheeseburger was good with a hand pressed patty. The French fries were also fresh and very good. I spoke to everyone and they also said the food was good, hot with generous portions. The prices were fair. read more

This was from October 2018, but I wanted to post this on here too! 10/10 would NEVER come again. Took almost 2 hours to get our food, we sat down around 3, ordered our drinks (waited a good 10 minutes for them). We ordered cheese sticks, BEST part of the meal. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and fries (cheese on my sandwich was so burnt I had to take the top of my sandwich off and my fries were burnt and hard. I got an order of cheese sauce on the side and it looked like they put it in a microwave and it got burnt to the edge of the bowl), another person order an omelette that barely had meat in it and never got his side of gravy (probably would of taken 20 minutes for that alone), another order a steak burrito (was made messy and didn't taste like steak at all, her fries were burnt as well), the 4th meal was liver and onions (onions were slightly burnt). Not worth the 2 hour wait and $50 price tag. Aside from the food, our server Tina, was a new girl. I understand learning things at a job, but she forgot a lot of items (we had to remind her of the cheese sauce which they could of kept, who the drinks and food went to, she plain forgot about the gravy but by the time we noticed we already started eating). It took her 3 times to add everything up, to where I pulled my phone out and just did it for her and she still couldn't figure out the correct total. We walked out of there around 5. If I could, I would of just walked out paying for my cheese sticks and Pepsi. I barely ate my fries, didn't use my cheese sauce, and only ate the chicken. The person who ordered the burrito ended up taking a couple bites and asked for a to go box. If you like crappy food and have almost 2 hours to wait, be their guest. read more

this place is great. Great food and a great price. They have a breakfast special for $2.99 that will fill your belly with happiness. i have been to alot of places around the area but this is one of the best by far. Crazy Joe is the only cook and a darn good one, so u always get the same great food. My fav thing to order is the heavy belly. Its 2 pices of toast with 2 pices of bacon an egg and two susage links inbetween the toast and then smothered with sausage gravy and a huge side of hashbrowns all for the price of $3.99 cant shake 2 sticks at that lol.. all and all a great place. read more

Crazy Joe's Diner - Diners Near Me - Kankakee, Illinois

Crazy Joe's Diner is a diamond in the rough! I eat here regularly and have not been disappointed one time! The owner and cook, joe, is a kind man who you can view feverishly working hard through a small opening in the kitchen wall! He always pokes his head out to greet customers too when he can spare the moment! Joe and his girlfriend Jo are the only two cooks crazy joes has so your food, although it may take longer then people like, will always be cooked made to order exactly the same way every time! They take much pride in every meal and every customers happiness. The two owners and cooks wake up before 6am and cook for their guests feverishly until well past 8pm 7 days a week! To say they are there for the people is an understatement ! They love their guests and they love their diner! If you have not been, you don't know what your missing! Ignore the less than desirable outside look and give this place a try! This place is not just a dive diner, it's a place where you can be sure to be treated like family! I have heard many of the customers greeted by name with drinks in the waitresses hand before the guests even needed to say what they liked! Give it a go! read more

The food was OK. The service was pathetic. We called in a carry out order and the told us it would be twenty minutes. We arrived to pick-up the order and it hadn't been started. We waited another 25 minutes. The waitress was argumentative about the order. When we arrived home they failed to include the vegetable, we had specified dinner and not the sandwich. One of our party returned to pick up the vegetables. Prices are cheap, food is good, the help not so good. read more

Ok went there @ 10;00 am Was able to pick anything off the menu that was great! Now service was great, Food well I had a Rib Dinner baked potato was fresh and huge and hot very good. The Ribs however had a odd taste almost a greasy taste but the bbq sauce kinda covered it. The wife had a grilled chicken wrap with fries. Wrap very good fries real greasy. Potato's fried in grease guess you'll have that, I'll accept that they were tasty fries. Now the place is not very attractive inside at all. Needs a good make over. The counter area is real bad, Paper strewn under a desk top in plan view, Looks like an old office not a restaurant food counter. Bathrooms old and scary. Good place for a meal with family but not on a first date for sure! Oh best thing prices are right! read more

When you walk in it looks pretty dumpy but I'm from Joliet and Diners are rare. I had a cold meat loaf sandwich just the way I like to eat my meat loaf. I wasn't given a hassle for requesting a cold sandwich. I got hash browns instead of fries, didn't have to pay extra. My meal was WONDERFUL the coffee was good. I can't say enough about the place. Joe, the owner, is CRAZY and a nice guy. The staff couldn't have been better. I say give it a try and over look the dacore. read more

First rate service with a family oriented atmosphere, its busy and that says one thing : people are willing to wait on good food. It is really nice to see food and customer satisfaction are at the top of Crazy Joes priorities. If your in Kankakee, Illinois "Eat at Joes ". And if you've lived here and dont know about Joes, he's normal and your crazy!!!!!!!!!! read more

This place looks kinda divey, but we had a great breakfast. Didn't care for their sausage gravy, a bit too pasty for my tastes, but they served the best hash browns ever! Light and crispy; not the least bit greasy. Perfectly cooked eggs and huge rye toast. Great breakfast for $3.99 read more

Karen B. is right. Joe's is divey as hell. Good diner food though. Not gourmet or fancy just really good. Great hungover next morning belly bombs. Great prices. So low that my girlfriend saw the check and actually picked it up. If you can get past the appearance, and I wouldn't blame someone if they couldn't, I'd recommend the food. read more

After the front page write-up in the local newspaper I wanted to try the place for lunch. I had the chicken club and potato salad, well the sandwich was fair at best and the potato salad had a bad taste to it like it was old or sitting in the cooler under-covered for days. The food took forever, Joe hire another cook if you can't handle a average Saturday lunch crowd. read more

Great place for breakfast like eating at grandma's house . Good food great service and hometown atmosphere. It's dive worth the drive

I go to Crazy Joe's at least twice a month and have never been disappointed. Warm atmosphere with good service.

Another fantastic breakfast at Crazy Joe's Diner where we met a couple we hadn't seen in awhile. Great fun catching up. Our Western omelettes with cheese & mushrooms were superb. My American fries were yummy, as always, and my very picky husband's hash browns -cooked light- were perfect. We always leave with full tummies & having really enjoyed ourselves! read more

Love the heavy belly breakfast. And you cant beat the prices. Coffee not that great. This is our go to place for breakfast.

I ordered a burrito and had to wait about 35 minutes to come out. However, after patiently waiting I get my burrito and realized that it was cold, and there was more lettuce, cheese, and sour cream than actual steak. I told the waitress about my situation and she was extremely rude. She said "I don't make your food I just work here what do you want me to do?". After keeping my cool I requested for a manager and she came back with the check saying "I took your burrito off" the funny part is I went to the washroom before leaving the restaurant and as I was leaving the waitress that serviced me was talking to other customers about my situation as if it was some sort of joke. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!" And by the way, next time you serve someone water please make sure to wash your hands when you finish touching your face because people like me can get disgusted very easily. Let's just say one star is much more than what was deserved. read more
