Disappointed how long it took to get my glasses. Got no updates, makes you wonder if this business will survive

Who knew that even during a pandemic and working remotely you'd still need your vision to be clear! Lol. I was in the area (from out of town) of this store and decided to give the brand a try. I knew I'd love them because I was required to make an appointment for safety reasons and the company having strict guidance on social distancing. Hello Covid-19!!! I arrived to my appointment and found it shocking but also very pleasing that I was the only client in store for my browsing experience. I was greeted by the store manager Emily and welcomed in to look around for a new frame. The selection was vast and the team offered great suggestions to fit my facial structure and preferred style. As I tried on a frame I was required to leave them out to be sanitized before they were placed back on the shelf for display! Major points for them. Anyway, we continue on with the appointment and the team was very accommodating ensuring my questions and needs were being met. I even got a fancy bottle of water to boot. If you're anything like me great customer service will have me spending tons of money. Lol. I found a pair of frames I loved and Emily was able to customize the lens for me since I brought in my eyeglass prescription. She took my measurements and submitted an insurance claim for me! Wait...I don't have to do that either? Win!!! This first experience was so grand I also purchased a pair of sunglasses to complete my order. Here's the best part, remember I was visiting the area and knew I wouldn't be around to pick up my new eye glasses when they were returned to the store so Emily promised to ship them to me immediately upon receipt and she did just that! The turnaround time was super fast and actually much quicker than when I visit the local optometrist office. If you are in need of new eye glasses or sunglasses please go see Emily. I would highly recommend this particular Oliver Peoples branch, led by Evon. Customer service is on another level at this location. From the minute you walk in, they can provide you with suggestions on what sunglasses or eye frames look best on your face type. This is very helpful as this is what they do for a living seeing 100's of faces each week. I often go to high-end places dressed extremely casual to test the level of customer service and these folks treat everyone with the same level of respect. I would say they are on the same level of customer service as M. Penner in the Galleria area. I previously bought my other pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses in Waikiki (Oahu, HI) and this store is a step above. Thank you all, I'll be back. read more

Buy online instead. You will be able to return your glasses that way. Not at the store... big mistake. Glasses do not fit properly, giving us headaches and we cannot return them. They recommended getting our vision retested. We just had it tested before our appointment with Oliver Peoples. After spending such a chunk of money in glasses, now I have two pairs sitting in my drawer. That said, the customer service at the store has been wonderful and they have been working with us to figure out a plan on getting these "fixed." Update: We were able to get our glasses redone. Rachel is phenomenal!!!!! I accidentally broke my pair of Gregory peck eyeglasses and was heartbroken, I had purchased them in Jan 18 and they still looked immaculate. But sadly accidents happen. Luckily I had purchased the 2 year warranty from Rachel mind you and boy did it pay off. Rachel was quick to help switch them out and alleviate any stress I had, she also started the process in getting my lenses replaced since I had bought scratch warranty as well. By far best looking glasses, great customer service, and best investment ever. Definitely buy the insurance it pays off especially in my case. read more

In early 2018 I was surprised with a new pair of glasses for my birthday. Wanting my frames to be unique and different from the millions of other pairs on the street I decided on Oliver Peoples. When I walked into the boutique I was amazed at how many beautiful frames were on the wall but also on how clean and immaculate the store was. My old pair was very outdated so I needed some help for my new frame and Rachel was to my rescue! We tried on tens of different pairs to select the right pair for my face and skin tone. My heart was set on the O'Malleys, but for my only pair of glasses I selected a more "versatile" pair. Once my frames were ready for pickup, Rachel gave me a call and made all the minor adjustments to ensure I had the perfect fit. The O'Malleys were still on my mind so I came back a few months later and Rachel once again helped me choose the best pair for me. From helping with my first pair of Oliver Peoples to even messaging me on whatsap while I was overseas on vacation to show me some new arrivals, Rachel's customer service is always on point. I came in OP back in November and purchased a pair of Clifton's. I had the BEST customer service from Manager, Emily. Emily was very knowledgeable about her product. I'll most definitely come back for my optical frames. Also, a friend sat on my glasses and when it came time for help Emily and her staff got me back on track and straightened my frames ..... I fell in love with this brand while in Malibu and was so thrilled when I found out about this location. Evon and Emily were so very helpful in helping my bf and I choose the right eye glasses. They let us try on a bunch of different styles and never once did we feel rushed or pressured. The customer service was amazing. It was around that time to choose a new pair of glasses. I came here because I always stick to Oliver People's. It was my first time at this location and I was trying to pick out new frames from their numerous beautiful selection. Rachel was very attentive and gave me options as to what suited me best. I was very impressed by her knowledge of products and her effort to help. She showed me two different frames, which I both fell in love with. Unfortunately I didn't get her name but she greeted me at the door because the door was closed, while another associate was with a client inside. At the door, she told me to read the sign saying they are appointment only (which is understandable), although she was extremely rude saying telling me to look at the sign to make an appointment which said I could do it online, when I asked if she could do it on her end (which she eventually did rudely) making the experience unnecessarily uncomfortable and rude. She also kept saying the appointment inside has been there for 2 hours and is spending a lot of money so she wasn't going to rush him... again I work luxury retail, I get the importance of good clients but, I never asked for anything to be rushed all I asked was to get the nearest appointment. But it felt very demeaning that she was rude, and expressed how much this client was spending, while rushing me out the door and talking to me like I can't afford or be an appointment worth her time. I did not get her name but she was African American woman, working at 4pm 10/17/2020. I was so ecstatic to learn that Oliver Peoples opened a store in Houston! Longtime wearer of these glasses. Their frames are timeless! The girls in the store are amazing, they are able to personally assist you in custom eyeglass fitting for your face shape. I love the glasses they selected for me. The selection is exceptional. They also adjusted two older pair of prescription OP sunglasses that were missing a nose guard and needed screw tightening. All as a courtesy! Bought frames that I thought wouldn't be to my liking so I decided to return them the following day. Big Mistake. All the women at the store thought I was creeping them out. All I wanted to do was to exchange it for another color or for a different pair. I had five days to make up my mind about this. I was trying out three different pairs for fit and comfort, one was a limited edition Japanese import, the other discontinued, and the third very bulky or sunglasses material. I was taking my time. Apparently that wasn't good enough because three security guards snuck behind me and told me to leave because the women felt uncomfortable around me. That was news to me! They never told me this. Manager explained that I had to leave because the women didn't feel right around me. Excuse me but I am here to shop for glasses and not quickly pick out a frame that isn't suitable for me. I am not the typical River Oaks Oliver Peoples shopper, according to one employee at this store, who doesn't care what he buys and runs out the door with product in hand. Fit really matters to me. The sales associate and yes that is all she is because she is certainly not a real optician like she claims to be (Miss five years of optician work) because she isn't knowledgeable or helpful must have felt angry at me for returning the item and for disagreeing with her assumptions about what is the right fit for me. Just because she likes the frame on me it doesn't mean that I will like it. I took it home with me and really felt it wasn't a good fit. Every time I tried the frame on I felt kind of tired or crabby. It could be the titanium temples that was causing me to react that way. The glasses also sat too far out. It was like wearing a magnifying glass with like 0 peripheral vision. I could put my entire thumb between the frame and my skin. Even after adjusting the nose pads it would still sit too far out because the nose pads were made to extend farther out than necessary. I told the manager that I was here for an exchange but she said that she will offer a full refund instead even though I never requested it. Whatever I thought to myself. It was then the security guards told me that I was banned from coming into the store. I was told to leave the River Oaks premises immediately. I did because the only reason I would be there in the first place is to shop for these ill-fitting glasses. THE PEOPLE WORKING AT THIS STORE ARE BONA FIDE CRAZY!!!!! I have never encountered such roundabout behavior in my entire life. I have been to this store on other occasions to shop for frames so the women staff were familiar with me, knew I was a polite gentleman and never caused problems for them. All I did was to keep to myself and to try to figure out which frame would be something that I would like since I already paid close to 500 dollars at this store. Cut me some slack! I immediately contacted Oliver People's HQs and provided all the information that they need on what had happened to me at one of their stores. This store only wants to sell quickly and push customers out the door after the sale ends. It's disgusting. FAKE OPTICAL STORE AND FAKE EMPLOYEES!!! Shame on you Oliver Peoples. My advice is that if you really want to buy Oliver Peoples then go to an authorized optical dealer and not to an Oliver Peoples store, which is a glorified retail shopping store and that pretty much sums it all. read more
