This place was great. The employees are friendly, and it was only $5 to empty the back of my SUV. In Los Angeles County, you get to pay $100+ to get rid of the smallest amount of waste at a place like the Carson Transfer Station and then the rudest person you'll ever meet tells you that, in addition to the $100+, you also have to buy a plastic helmet, goggles, and a disposable safety vest. The alternative? There isn't one. All of the local landfills are closed and county officials seem content to sit back and watch folks continue to illegally dump their trash everywhere. Life is better behind the Orange Curtain. The Olinda Alpha Landfill is a well run facility. Hats off to those who work hard to make it so. read more

This in part of the Valencia Greenery side which was before the landfill location for the Free Compost and Mulch. Here was my experience. I made an appointment with the available time slot online and took a trip to Valencia Greenery in Brea to grab some compost. The drive up the hill was easy thanks to the clear signage, and I was the only person there. Make sure to sign the logbook located right by the hand-washing station so they can keep track of visitors. It was easy peasy. Below is the info from Valencia Greenery. This ensures a smooth and well-organized process for all visitors. We recommend scheduling your appointment well in advance, and please be aware that you must exit the site by 4 p.m. So, plan your visit accordingly and give yourself enough time to fill your containers before the 4 p.m. deadline. When you arrive, remember to bring a container for your compost and mulch, as well as a shovel to help you load it. Don't forget to secure your compost in your vehicle--using a tarp or some kind of cover will keep it from spilling during transit, ensuring you can safely get home with your gardening treasure. I go early with an SUV full of items that won't fit in the small trash bins, show my ID that proves that I am an Orange County resident, and pay the attendant, who had only charged $5 for the two trips I have made thus far. The drive up and around the hill to the dump site has pleasant scenery with a very slow speed limit and huge speed bumps. I agree with another reviewer that I would not recommend taking a car to this location. Once near the top, the pavement turns to dirt. My only concern at that point is the possibility of nails in my tires (which did not happen). Overall, it's a pleasant experience and I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I love coming to this landfill. The people working at the front are always really nice whenever you need any help or there are any difficulties. The best part however is that the space is extremely large and there is never a way to actually dump your materials. They also have a lot of booths open so even checking in to get weighed in is extremely quick. The drive up the mountains is actually really nice and one of the only dump sites I've ever been to that has that type of scenery. I go here to dump mytrash and other objects and it is extremely well priced compared to other dump sites. I've been to. One thing to note is that it is only for Orange County residence. If you are outside of that county, you are not allowed to dump here. read more

On April 18,2026 I came for the annual compost give away and I was surprised on how helpful and kind the service was. *I don't recommend going here if you are driving a sedan with stuff to dump off. Road is very bumpy at the top and the speed bumps are really high. Lucky to have my car come out intact. *Great views though! read more

Can't dump here unless you're ID address is in Orange County. I live in LA and work on a construction site in Yorba Linda, and they sent me away because I didn't have "proof". I'm a laborer and like most laborers I don't carry the job contract on me, so make sure if you go here you have a job contract or live in OC before you wait in a super long line and get sent home by a grumpy window lady. They could've been nice and let me dump my small pickup truck load of stuff. read more

Make sure you live in their service area. I didn't realize I couldn't go to the nearest landfill and it had to be my county.

This place is a dump...literally! Actually pretty cool driving up bc you get awesome views of Brea. Just be careful when you park and where you step. There's tons of sharp objects and nails, wear your doc martens and don't park too close to the dumping area. read more

I sent my company truck to dispose of waste and clerk at the front sent them away. I had my contracting license and proper documentation. Management needs to do a better job at facilitating the process. Its a dump for a reason. read more

Can't remember the last time I wrote a review, but we had so much fun here. Yes, at the landfill of all places. Is it obvious that we don't get out much (3 kids + pandemic...)? We just relocated and thanks to government contracted movers we had unsalvageable broken furniture as well as large packaging from new stuff and decided to give this place a try rather than chop it all up and dispose of it slowly via the weekly trash pick-up. For $5 (since we have a regular vehicle, in our case we filled up the back of our Odyssey) we got entrance up to the landfill to dispose of our trash. We did have to prove that we were from Orange County (just brought our utility bill as our driver's license doesn't have the new address yet). Then we drove up and up and up to get to where we could drop off the rubbish. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the gorgeous views from up there that it would be an awesome make out spot. The land on the way up had beautiful wildflowers and was neatly maintained. Up on top there was even a food truck parked there where you can get snacks! We weren't sure what to expect (maybe a dystopian wasteland a la Wall-E) so we were surprised when basically at the drop off spot, you just back your car up to the area and just start chucking your trash right outside the car. It was actually pretty therapeutic. The bulldozers then come afterwards to pile all the trash in the heap and I guess bury it later. It was just neat to see what happens to all the trash that arrives there and reminds you of the importance about being mindful with the trash that we produce. I would bring our kids the next time we need to go back as it would be a great learning experience for them. read more

Let me begin by saying we are residents to the oc Purchased a home about a year ago, have dumped here before... used my dl with my previous address. The employee proceeded to say, we didn't have proof of oc residence and needed to bring mail as proof of residence This was Saturday I now have to extend my uhaul rental We return today with my id as well as mail that matches my id name with my residence on it, and we're told it's not recent enough since it's from October. Seriously?! Why wasn't I advised the mail had to be from a week ago! I go to the information page and it states: proof of residence may be requested. "May be requested". Does not mean it will be. Personally I feel discriminated against. It felt extremely racial.... I am not one to say that loosely. And reading the previous reviews others have felt the same. This is the absolute best landfill site in Orange County (I speak as a public user, not a contractor/company). I provide trash and debris hauling services for OC residents and have gotten familiar (on a professional level) with many of the employees... Their prices are much more affordable than all the small rip off companies in OC (like the one in Anaheim the other one in Huntington Beach). Small cars are only $5, and trucks with trash up to 880lbs are only $20... Anything over 880lbs is $57 per ton. They accept cash or check (no credit/debit cards). You can trash just about anything except hazardous waste (paint, fuel, chemicals, cleaning supplies/liquids, etc), and tires. Once you pay at the scales. you have to drive up a decently steep hill to get up to the trash dumping area (signs will guide you there). Remember you are sharing the road with big-rigs, trucks with trailers, etc - so keep it chill... To utilize this dump you have to be an Orange County resident or have a work order showing you are conducting work in Orange County. read more

Must be a resident of Orange County and be able to prove it (ID/Proof of address). $5 for most regular automobiles, trucks are a little more I think. Felt really weird just throwing trash as far as I could but it's definitely something cool and weird that you should try once in your life. read more

Beware! This land fill turned us away as soon as we mentioned we were from Chino Hills. We waited over 30 minutes to be turned away. On top of that, the guy checking vehicles was extremely rude and gave us an old list with out of date locations. Very disappointing considering they are right next to Chino Hills... read more
