Decided to try out Oley's Kitchen & BBQ for breakfast on a Saturday morning, upon entering the restaurant it was completely empty and rather clean. There was a older lady at the counter. I believe her name was Millie. not too welcoming, but everyone has a bad day. I ordered the pork chop breakfast meal, which includes two eggs, grits, choice of white bread or wheat. The price was $14.99 and my wife opt for the bacon breakfast meal for $13.99 which seems steep due to they only give you three strips of bacon. Overall, the food was good. Just need better customer service..

I was in the area for an appointment when I realized it was close to dinner-time and I was in the mood (as always) for some Jamaican food. Yelp showed me a spot a few miles away! I rush over to Oley's to grab up my go- to meal of Jerk chicken, rice n peas, collard greens, and cabbage, with a seemingly complimentary tiny corn bread. The restaurant was in the hood, which was a great sign (wink), it smelled ok, food looked good, and I was excited about possibly discovering a new favorite spot. Ummm...not so fast. I am going to keep it a 100. The jerk wasn't jerkin', the cabbage tasted like sweaty socks, and the collard greens had a hint of sourness. Sorry my peoples, but this ain't it.

Solid soul food and carb bean joint. The jerk chicken is ridiculous. So juicy and tender and full of flavor. The mac snd cheese was good. The rice was a little dry. Overall I'm a huge fan.

Customer service is great here. The older gentleman server was very hospitable and kind to us. He even asked the cook to let us order breakfast even though it was 5min after end of breakfast. Breakfast is good. BBQ is delicious, ribs were smokey and "fall off the bone" meat was delicious. Mac and cheese was okay, yams were tasty and served in a mashed style. Gotta try the collards next time we come. Pancakes were okay, omelet was a meat lovers and not too much meat. Lots of good cheese though on the omelet. Home fries are home made cut, seasoned and cooked like home. I enjoyed my time here. This is a comfortable place to eat. There were a lot of people who seemed to come in after Church to eat and our server was nice to everyone. I found it nice that the owner graduated from Bethune-Cookman University, an awesome HBCU! Love that it was displayed at this business!

I've been on the hunt for great soul food since we moved and Oley's is it. The vibe is what you want, old school pictures on the wall, the same paint job from the 90's , aunties arguing about the menu and a server that sits down to take your order. What I liked: the fried chicken, whiting, greens, yams and Lima beans were all great. Just ok : I wasn't crazy about the cornbread or cabbage. But that's just personal preference. Already been back and will be going back to try more.

My coworker wanted to introduce me to this place and I'm so glad he did! The vibes were right and the food was really good and came out to our table quick and piping hot! Our server was a sweetheart. We will for sure be spending more lunch breaks here!

Four and a half stars for a mash up of Jamaican and Southern (yup you read that right) cuisine. The online order system was really finicky and took forever to go through anddd it sent the wrong info to the restaurant- it was the weirdest thing- my email confirmation was correct but the receipt that printed on their end was not- the restaurant staff were super nice and re did the order with the right meats, which was very much appreciated. They all wore masks as well. They brought the order out curbside. I dock half a star because the packaging of the food wasn't great- it would have been much better if the curry and jerk were packed separately (those two flavors don't really go together)& they were both on top of all the rice and peas which also would have been better packed separately. The food itself was delicious, and I'd definitely order from them again, though maybe by phone. I'd skip the red velvet cake- it was very sweet, didn't have the depth you'd expect from red velvet and was a pretty small slice. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Oley's- definitely much better than it looks from the outside! Glad for Yelp including it on the black owned business list or I probably wouldn't have found it since I don't go to this part of town usually.

Please forgive me for only one picture. This place food is always good. We had Fried Chicken smothered in gravy, sweet potatoes, potato salad, okra and tomatoes, cabbage. We also purchased lemon and red velvet cakes.

It only makes sense that the soul and Caribbean cultures come together in Florida. From fried chicken and collards to oxtail and cabbage, this unassuming location houses a myriad of classics that'll make any local feel right at home. Drive slow, as this place is quick to miss. You'll be glad you gave it a shot.

Cake was moist, cream cheese icing was creamy and not too sweet, a good amount of carrots in the cake, a big portion sliced in half for sharing, and an affordable price. Brown stew chicken - 5/10. Ok flavor, but the chicken was kind of dry. I would have liked extra gravy but was unable to make that special request. Rice and peas - 10/10. Rice was good, nice hint of coconut milk, peas cooked perfectly. Veggies - 2/10. Bland AF. Everything except for the cabbage tastes like it came from a can. Plantain - 2/10. Bland, kinda dry. Would only order from here again for the carrot cake.

I was getting together with some friends and we ordered from Negril. Luckily, a couple of my friends are Jamaican and they helped steer me to some new faves! Food I'd highly recommend: - Brown stew chicken meal with rice and peas, fried plantain, and stewed cabbage. This dish is rich and has the potential for leftovers if you're not starving. For the uninitiated, Jamaican rice and peas consist of red kidney beans and rice that's cooked in broth, coconut milk, and tons of aromatic spices. This isn't your white rice and green peas type of situation. I could have eaten this rice on its own, but add in the brown stew sauce and WOW. Also, I love the cabbage side because it adds a vinegary note that offsets the rich stew. Note: The chicken is cut up and includes bones. - Coco bread: This is a Jamaican style bun baked with coconut milk. It's especially good when paired with a patty in the middle (yes, the coco bread around the patty! Carb heaven!). - Festival: Jamaican festival is a sweet fried dough made with cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and milk aka a dumpling. Yes this is as good as it sounds- especially for soaking up brown stew gravy! I was BLOWN away to see an entire veggie section of the menu (for online ordering) featuring soya veggie chunks (a soy based option with the consistency of chicken). That's a HUGE deal for those of us with vegetarians in the family. Overall, delicious Jamaican food that I'll definitely order again!

Wow these portions!…read more What Ofcourse I got the 2 signature meals. The jerk chicken and also the fried chicken with honey. The jerk chicken, I got with rice and peas, mixed veggies and cabbage. The cabbage was a little strange to me- not as I imagined from Jamaica steamed cabbage. The mixed veggies were also basic - like boiled frozen mixed veggies. The rice and peas were overall good but tasted a little on the hard side. The chicken though! This was the highlight - it was very flavorful, though I wish I would be able to have the sauce on the side.. For the fried chicken meal - the fried chicken was nice and hot. I got this to-go and was worried it would get soggy but it still tasted great when I got home. Environment This is located in a plaza tucked away near the corner. It seems to be a more takeout restaurant. There is some seats inside for your to enjoy the food. Since it is in a plaza, there is plenty of parking available, but in front of the restaurant could be a bit tricky. Niceness of the staff I would say she was not on the nice side. No one greeted me upon entering also they seemed preoccupied and did not once gave eye-contact. Definitely not friendly.. but nonetheless I got my food. Dollar It is like the bang for your buck. I ordered via UnderEats and there are deals, it was very reasonable as you get 2 leg quarters! Yes I would definitely order takeout again

Bob Marley A Tribute to Freedom met all these requirements and blew our expectations out of the water. Yes, it was a splurge, but it was some of the best food we have had. And, we had great music accompanying our meal. I ordered the Natty Dread Vegetable Pasties with yucca fries and sweet bread. The filling was delicious, but it was the pastry dough that knocked my socks off. My husband agreed! I also split an Island Mai Tai with my husband--a real, classic mai tai,l with orgeat--and it was perhaps the best we'd ever had. (It was $18, though, for maybe 8 ounces, including ice and fruit--yikes!) The spouse had the jerk chicken with rice and pidgeon peas and some sweet plantains. (I traded some of my sweet bread for some of those sweet plantains--yum!) He said it was the best food he had while in Orlando. Our 12yo got a vegetable stew (Itel Soup) with root vegetables, cassava dumplings, black beans, and plantains. She thought it was fine originally, asked for salt, and then really liked it. The husband got the 12yo's leftovers, and he thought it was great, too (but agreed that in needed salt and pepper). Nonetheless, she liked it, and we all found something on the menu we could enjoy. Finally, the server was amazing. He was so great managing our tired, grumpy 12yo (and her tired, grumpy parents). He was able to coax her into choosing a dish and eating it, too, which I don't know if we would have succeeded in doing without him. He also pointed our the many non-alcoholic beverage options, so she was able to have her own tasty drink, a Jamaican Cream Soda. There were *several* vegetarian dishes on the menu that looked fantastic and I would love to have a chance to try. I hope we can make it to Orlando again sometime to try those other dishes!

We informed the person taking the reservation that this was our first time visiting the restaurant so we expected a nice table - I assume they want repeat business. But instead we were seated right in front of the live band and it was so loud, we couldn't talk at all. The funny thing was that the restaurant was barely half full! Our waiter also had a tough time hearing us so we had to corret our orders a couple of times. They ran out of beef patties:-( that day. We decide to order some appetizers and a couple of entrees and shared. We had the Buffalo Soldier Jerk Wings - Had a nice spice to it and was quite delicious. We also hd the Jerk Caulifolower bites - a little sweet and spicy sauce and we all agreed this was the best dish we had! We had the Curried Goat stew - a weak curry and did not really have any spice to it. The Reggae Jamaican Jerk Chicken had a sweet spice and sticky sauce - next best dish we had. We also ordered the Coco bread- which was disappointing andd I do not recommend. It was just bread with some butter in it and definitely overpriced for what you got! Cocktails were rather weak. Server was just OK. He wasn't very attentive and did nothing to make our visit great.
