Soft bara, perfectly seasoned channa, pepper and tamarind sauce hugging everything like a warm Caribbean auntie. I've basically been on a doubles‑only diet since, and honestly, I feel spiritually aligned. I even ate one cold from the fridge and it still slapped. That's when you know it's real. Then there's the boneless curry chicken with buss‑up‑shut. Pure comfort. The kind of meal that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The potatoes were soft enough to spread on a cracker, the channa was rich and earthy, and the chicken tasted like somebody's grandmother was in the back whispering, "Put a lil' more seasoning, nah." The buss‑up‑shut was fluffy, torn, and ready to scoop up every drop of curry like it had a mission. And the pepper sauce? Flavorful. Respectful. Not trying to fight me or send me to the ER. A rare and beautiful thing. Since moving from New York to Florida, I've been on a serious mission trying to find good Trini food, because anybody who knows knows not every place serving roti is actually serving roti. I happened to find Sherry's Trini while I was in Orlando for an exam and decided to give it a try. I ordered the potato and channa roti with pepper sauce on the side. The potato and channa was yum, well-seasoned. The pepper sauce was everything I needed. Now for the roti itself. If you're accustomed to a good dhalpuri or buss up shut, this one might leave you wanting a little more. It wasn't bad, but it lacked that soft, delicate, flaky texture. The filling was carrying the meal more than the roti did. Overall though, I appreciated finally finding a place in Florida serving Trini food that actually tastes like somebody put some love into it. It's hard to come by down here. While the roti wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, the potato and channa definitely satisfied the craving and I'd still come back to get some other fixes. read more

Despite being tucked beside a gas station as a combination convenience store and eatery, Sherry's proved to be a hidden gem. The service was outstanding. My server, Zech, was personable, patient, and attentive, and the staff overall were friendly and accommodating. Trini food in Orlando is very difficult to come by, so I'm very lucky to have Sherry Trini close by to me. I usually come for the doubles and the pricing is competitive with the other restaurants. I wish the barra was a bit larger though. Very tasty nonetheless! I order my doubles with all toppings. The aloo pie is delicious as well. I'm so excited to have found an authentic Trini spot in the Central Florida area so I don't have to make that drive back to South Florida for my doubles cravings. I saw this spot on my FYP on social media and immediately bookmarked the Yelp page. Since I was in the area doing some shopping, it definitely created an appetite. This spot is located inside of Citgo gas station, and I truly believe some of the best food finds are in the most obscure places. I stopped in Saturday around 4pm expecting the crowd to have died down but was I wrong. As I waited in line, they were quickly dishing out the meals quick. Everything is made fresh and you can definitely see that as they change out the trays periodically. I ordered 2 doubles with tamarind sauce, pepper sauce, and cucumbers. The total was $4.44 which is a great deal. The first bite - I was in heaven. The pepper sauce is the perfect amount of spice and kick but you also get the bite of the cucumber and sweetness of the tamarind sauce. The bara (bread of the double) is so fresh and pillowy. It can get a little messy with the doubles but it's the perfect snack or street food to have. Randomly driving by Sherry's Trini restaurant while heading to Costco and was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is located inside of a gas station. Sounds really crazy, I know! Truthfully, the food is absolutely delicious. I started with the doubles, wow! I visited Trinidad a few years back and let just say it was pretty close to the one I had in Trinidad. I also tried the curry chicken with potatoes and vegetables which was flavored perfectly and not over seasoned. The bus-up-shot roti was soft, light and flaky, exactly what you want as a vessel to the perfectly seasoned curry. Outside there is a young man grilling chicken and lamb, the lamb was my favorite but the fries could be better. They're just frozen fries. I'm using a sliding scale. I love Sherry's Trini. I grew up in Trinidad back in the early 70s. The foods are incredible fusions of Indian, African, Chinese, and European. It's an absolute treat. Now to Sherry's. I opened the door and the aroma snapped me back fifty years! Pure joy! The flavors are a knockout to the smells, yes that good! I've had most items on their menu. Each is great. The line at this spot was a bit long. So, I figured the food must be good. I ordered my Curry Chicken and Buss Up with a side of Spinach to go. I also ordered the sorrel. This is hands down the best Roti I've had in years!!!! It was so soft and flaky just how roti should be. It even tasted good the next day! The sorrel was interesting. I've never had it spiced like that before. I'm used to the Jamaican version spiced with ginger, but this one seemed to have maybe cardamom or cinnamon, maybe... Either way, it was very good.
