So there's not many Jamaican restaurants in town and so when I noticed this spot as I drived by I quickly added it to my must trys. I read previous reviews and they seemed to be either a hit or miss (more because of service than food) so I thought even more reason to come try for myself. I know for some, service can be a deal breaker but for me the right food will make it hard for me to turn away and hey maybe it was just the way I was raised - be nice to the cook or anyone handling your food, for various reasons Lol.. Moving on, I came in the evening about half past six. Service felt normal or regular, considering the time of day most people will not be up and arms and that's ok... Off the bat Im going to assume it's probably run by a single person too since that's all I saw there. She was in the back of the kitchen when we came in which tells me she was probably multitasking. Along with the help sign in the front. So I give it to her. Anyway, moving on to the food, I got the large size ox tail, rice a peas, cabbage, sweet plantain. The food was already prepared up front. Admittably, I was not to into the fact that I could see it was sitting but still covered of course - not "just made" however when I came home I heated it up and could tell it was made same day which was fine and understandable. This portion is easily shared between 2 people. The oxtail it was nice and tender and the taste was the authentic Jamaican flavors you find. The rice and peas paired nicely. The cabbage was really coleslaw since it was cold but ok nonetheless. I was craving the hot cabbage you typically find but still managed. I rate it 3.5 stars since I am more about finding real authentic food and supporting local businesses. I also think it has potential to be a solid 4 or more if I catch it fresh/earlier in the day or some small tweaks. With that said, I don't mind my food cold with a side of a little attitude as long as it can speak for itself. Now now there! :-)

It's everything I expected in a Jamaican restaurant for Oviedo. The lady at the front is polite and the food tastes good for what we have had so far.

Curry Chicken, Rice, Slaw, and Plantains.

Such a good place for lunch/dinner. Portions are fairly large, meat is fall off the bone, everything is delicious!! Service was great, and it was clean and homie inside. We love this place and will 100% be back!!

This place is amazing, the service and the food is the best in town. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else to go for the selling home style Jamaican food recipes. Ms. Judy and her husband will always make you fell so welcome. Try it out I sure you guys won't regret it at all. 10/10 I recommend I'll always come back again.

I love the jerk pork in particular. The goat curry is good also. Note that it's currently takeout only.

5 Stars for great Jamaican food in Sanford that's easy for pick-up or delivery and packs TONS of…read moreflavor! Plus- Vegetarian meat options (soy-based)! I was getting together with some friends and we ordered from Negril. Luckily, a couple of my friends are Jamaican and they helped steer me to some new faves! Food I'd highly recommend: - Brown stew chicken meal with rice and peas, fried plantain, and stewed cabbage. This dish is rich and has the potential for leftovers if you're not starving. For the uninitiated, Jamaican rice and peas consist of red kidney beans and rice that's cooked in broth, coconut milk, and tons of aromatic spices. This isn't your white rice and green peas type of situation. I could have eaten this rice on its own, but add in the brown stew sauce and WOW. Also, I love the cabbage side because it adds a vinegary note that offsets the rich stew. Note: The chicken is cut up and includes bones. - Coco bread: This is a Jamaican style bun baked with coconut milk. It's especially good when paired with a patty in the middle (yes, the coco bread around the patty! Carb heaven!). - Festival: Jamaican festival is a sweet fried dough made with cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and milk aka a dumpling. Yes this is as good as it sounds- especially for soaking up brown stew gravy! I was BLOWN away to see an entire veggie section of the menu (for online ordering) featuring soya veggie chunks (a soy based option with the consistency of chicken). That's a HUGE deal for those of us with vegetarians in the family. Overall, delicious Jamaican food that I'll definitely order again!

I don't mind waiting places if there is a reward and I love a good hot out the pot meal. Next time I'm in Sanford will visit again.

I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also added a beef patty. Service was quick and friendly, and my food was ready without a long wait. Let me just say, this is what authentic jerk is supposed to taste like. The rice and peas were well seasoned and balanced. The cabbage was cooked perfectly, tender but not mushy. The portion sizes were generous, easily enough for more than one meal. The jerk chicken was the standout. It was seasoned to perfection, bold, spicy, and full of that signature smoky depth that defines true Jamaican jerk. The heat level was right, the flavor layered, and every bite delivered exactly what I was hoping for. The beef patty was decent, though not as memorable as the jerk. Still solid, just not the star of the meal. After trying several places in search of authentic flavor, I can confidently say I have found my new go to spot. I will definitely be back.
