Very disappointed. Located right off of Hwy 1, feels like you're in someone's rather poorly kept backyard, camping. The tent campsites are truly an afterthought and there is little to no signage or directions to show you how to get to your designated site. Campsite staff are not friendly or helpful ... one approached us, we thought to help, but rather to chastise us for driving in a restricted section. There were no signs stating the area was restricted! All this for $35/night! No thanks. We took a look around and high tailed it out of there and headed north to Bodega Bay ... found heaven on earth at Doran Beach Regional Park Campgrounds and it was just $26/night! read more

Pricey ($55) and over crowded. I'm only giving it 2 stars because we found a spot without reservations on a Saturday night. Hot showers, though nasty. read more

Wow, where to start?! This isn't camping. We stayed in the tent camping area for two nights. The tents are crowded in with very little space. There are just a few trees. It's essentially a parking lot. It feels like you're staying in a FEMA refugee campground. The management was polite, but turned a blind eye to issues in the park. A family with twelve, yes twelve, people pulled into the space adjacent to us. They set up four tents. The campground policy is six people, two tents, and two cars max. We complained. Management made the family move one of their tents to a different spot. They never checked back and the space was constantly way over capacity. Also, there is nothing to do at the campground. Nada. My kids have never been more bored while camping. read more

We are very glad to find this campground. Accidentally drove by it while camping at Samuel Taylor during the summer. So we thought give it a try. Then, we are returning for the second time. And decided that it's gona be our THE campground for this area in the future. We love camping and nature, but are not hardcore campers. We do have our standards for comfort. We've camped all over Europe. And had an impression about the campgrounds in the states not as nice as those in Europe. Until we stayed at Olema Ranch. It has the European quality to it. Friendly staff, helpful check in, well-maintained sites and facilities, very clean, nice free hot showers ( some private ones are great). To us, the most important is - there is a good wifi cover the whole campground. Free! How fantastic is that! Sip my tea/coffee and have my news & life updated right in my tent. It does fill up during the weekend. I can see that why some people complained too close to your neighbors. But, Hey, this is a campground, not hotel where has your own room and privacy. In Europe, sites are always side by side. No one complained. I bet people who complained would get panic in European campground. Just say hi or pretend not see others, you will be fine. We are camping in the nature, of course there are some wild life out there. That's the main reason we camp, right? be in the nature. Some people cried out about raccoons. Grow up! Always put away your food at night or away during the day. Common sense for camping in the nature. Overall, we love this campground. So convenient. Great restaurants close by. Amazing bike ride! We will come back again! read more

If not for the proximity to great locales, Olema campground would get a one. Despite the cost the campground offers few of the features that make a worthwhile camping experience. The site itself is nothing to speak about. It is tucked between the main road and Point Reyes. No discernible trails lead from the campsite and it does not offer any pretty vistas. The tent area is completely open, offering no privacy or separation from the other campers. The permanent bathrooms are a long walk from most sites and are not well kept. At 2 to 3 times the cost of a normal campsite they should be pristine. Campsites like this always seem to attract the worst campers and our stay was no exception. A group of loud drunks partied away until 2;00am and no camp host intervened. If planning a camping trip to this area stay farther north or palm ahead. The Taylor campground is nearby but very nice. read more

Just returned from three nights. It wasn't a great place, even though the fees are high. For two days we had to listen to their pumps pumping water (think loud generator) out of their creeks that flow through the campground. The first day they started the extremely loud pump behind us at dinner time and ran it for awhile (only turning it off after we asked). The next day they started the pump at 8:30 am and ran it for 9 hours making it impossible to relax after our long hike that afternoon. They need to invest in improving the drainage in the creeks, not rely on disturbingly loud pumps. read more

Started out great with great neighbors. I had my Trump flag hung proudly on the side of my rig for 2 days with no problems. In fact, 90-95% of people gave us thumbs ups or waves. Then on the third day, one person was offended and "afraid" of me and my friend because of our Trump flag. We are both over 40 years old, mind you. Management came over and pressured us to take our flag down because she "didn't want us to get attacked." So who exactly should be afraid?? Next time I'll go to a place that respects our constitutional rights of free speech!!! read more

I will give them 2 stars based solely on their location in Olema which is near Pt.Reyes, Bolinas, Stinson and other great places along the Pt. Reyes seashore. The campground itself is pretty pathetic, even though there are some pretty nice views off in the distance. If you do camp here best you get to know thy neighbor because you really will not have a choice. Also the campsite store is horribly stocked and seems to close at arbitrary times. My biggest complaint however, while it might seem petty to some, is their garbage management. They have ONE RECYCLING BIN FOR THE ENTIRE SITE for cans and bottles and it is all the way in the front entrance. They have some garbage cans poorly labeled for recycling in various locations throughout the campsite but they simply become garbage cans for regular garbage because that is what they look like and unless you were earnestly looking would not know it was for anything other than garbage. So garbage, cans and bottles and other recyclables all intermix and go out to the landfill which is pretty much not what getting into the great outdoors and enjoying nature is about. This is Marin dammit, get your treehugger on. read more

I love hiking, I love almost everything outdoors, including camping. What I do not like is camping here! I was part of backpacking group backpacking across Marin and we were walking north from Bolinas on the Rift Zone trail. It was a muddy trail on a cold cloudy day with frequent rainshowers. We even had some cows charge at us. I was super glad to find this campsite just sitting here waiting for us where we could unload, dry off and eat our dinner. Our feet were sore, our backpacks super heavy and we were tired! I was first happy to see the bathrooms, they were spacious and I was very glad to see one (I had used the woods for the last three days,) and it was a perfect place to hang up my wet clothing. We then had a nice dinner and went to get water near the bathroom. We saw a racoon but ignored it. Things were going smoothly and then we heard a loud moaning sound from the other side of the creek. It was probably a cow, it had a moo sound in it. Then along came the problems! I slept soundly, my tent kept out the rain (which restarted again that night,) but I was not pleased when I looked outside the tent. Not only was it raining but also, my backpack had been broken into by racoons! All its contents were in the grass, on the picnic table and most of it was torn up too! I would recommend some of those raccoon proof food cupboards like Samuel P Taylor has. I told my friends in the other tent about the racoon. They said, "You had it good." The racoon had gotten into my friends' tent and one of them woke up to see a racoon walking on top of her. She screamed and woke up my other friends (I somehow managed to sleep through it. I'm not surprised because I once slept through neighboring campers playing bongo drums at 2 in the morning and yelling as they jumped over the campfire. This did not happen at Olema though.) After cleaning up and calming down, we packed up and left (and it sure did not help that the prices were high, especially for a campsite with too many racoons.) Overall, this campsite gets two stars for the high prices and our furry friends but the bathroom prevents it from going down to one star. As I said before, I love campsites and I love camping and it's really hard for me to give a bad review on campsites. However, I feel I had to share my bit about this place. read more

Let me begin with the positives: * Easy to access, and close to West Point Station * I may have inadvertently set a new world record in the triple-jump, trying to avoid stepping on dog poop (which is everywhere). Other than that, expect an old playground and a overcrowded camp. It didn't help that they made us move because of some booking error. have you tried moving camp with kids? read more

If I could I'd give it 3.75 or 3.5 stars. The good: -some private showers, that were reasonably clean -Low dust due to water truck that runs nightly -Store with firewood -playground -games -great location near an incredibly beautiful area but the actual campground site is kind of meh in comparison -no ice for sale -wifi didn't work at all on two different devices android or ios -fire pit not cleaned out -very close to your neighbors. By the way- to you idiots camped next to us who came, got drunk and the immature mid twentyish girl who at first was laughing and then cried for almost two hours while arguing with your boyfriend well after midnight- you SUCK. read more

Spent 2 nights recently, amenities are good, as is location. Friendly and helpful staff. Mid week stay proved to be very quiet. Showers were clean and water hot, but annoying (must keep pressing nozzle to keep water flow). Didn't notice the dust problem mentioned in other reviews. read more

I think this place is probably fine if you're RV camping but if you're tent camping it's the pits, literally. People throwing massive parties, overcrowded together, one big hot grass field, and no toilets or showers. We made reservations an hour before we arrived and they said, "Great, you have small kids so we will put you near the showers and bathrooms!" They also told us sites were every other site to allow for social distancing. When we arrived an hour later we found out that the whole grounds were under construction and there were no working bathrooms or showers. The portopotties were so gross that I would not let our children use them. We watched as person after person arrived and nearly every site was crammed together. Everyone complained that they'd been lied to about social distancing. The site is also next to a water treatment plant and has weird mysterious swamp trails surrounding it. The whole place was just a huge disappointment and the staff was really dishonest in their booking. read more

I just tried to make a reservation during the Labor Day Weekend and had the most "rude" person on the other end of the phone. Because of the awful experience, I felt it was unconscionable to make a reservation with them and give them my business. Making it difficult for a person to make a reservation at a business sounds like a bad practice to me. I will gladly give my business elsewhere. read more

The Fiance and I decided to pack the car and just go up and see if we can just camp someplace. That spontaneous road trip took us to Point Reyes and we ended up at Olema Ranch Campground. Olema Ranch Campground is located about 2 - 3 miles from the Bear Valley Visitor Center. This campground has about 150 camping spots and about 50 RV hook up locations. Each site has it's own picnic table, fire pit, and you share running water with one other campsite. On site they have ATM, Laundry Mat, Visitor Information, Horseshoe pit, post office, small little gift area, and several other items. Bathroom and showers here were clean. Not super clean, but clean enough when you go camping. The spacing between campsites were ok. You weren't on top of each but you weren't right next to each other either. While they do have a lot of stuff here, the biggest problem is they charge you through the nose. We spent $40 for 1 night camping. Yes Ladies and Gentlemen, that FORTY DOLLARS for ONE NIGHT of camping. You had to buy firewood from them so that's another $10. Yes, it cost me a Grant for 1 night of camping. WAY WAY to much. While the place was clean, it was also run down. Kind of like how you would "clean" your room but shoving all the junk under your bed. Overall if all of the other campgrounds are full, it's an alternative. Just know that you're looking about $50 (including wood) to camp here. There are better options out there but if you are in a pinch like we were, it will work. (Also they only accept CASH too... this way they can get you to use their ATM). read more

The campground is nice and clean. We had power and water at our spot. Bathrooms, dump and laundry are available. The lady in the reception was pleasant, professional and helpful over the phone and in person when checking in. Bathrooms are older and "tight", but clean! On a side note it was nice to not see long term, unkempt, trailers or motorhomes. I recommend and would come back. read more

My wife and I have stayed here often, but the experience this time was poor. Don't expect your camping neighbors to respect the park rules or for any form of enforcement from management. Loud music throughout the afternoon and night as well as loud parties up to midnight. Trailers and RVs are tightly packed along with numerous tents. The park seemed congested and due to the continued loud music and partying past 10:00 P.M. one wonders if there is adequate supervision. Young children were left to wander and play as parents partied. Due to the water shortage the facility has gone to a 5 second shower button. The water flows for 5 seconds and then shuts off. One must push the button again just to get rinsed. The conservation is great. The problem is with the water temperature. The water temperature was extremely hot. It was impossible to shower as the water was near burning. read more

I wish I could give this no stars. Overpriced. I was told there would be quiet times after 10 but there was a loud party happening until at least 2 in the morning. They claim to have a laundromat but none of the dryers work and even if they did they're overpriced. I could not even use the wifi and I'm wondering why I had to pay so much for just a bunch of lies. read more

I do love the area here and this has been my second time camping at this spot. Great distance from nice attractions such as point Reyes station and point Reyes itself. Never had a problem checking in either. BUT: there are some issues.. Such as the trees they've cut down to put in more campgrounds. I camped next to a stump instead of a tree that wouldn't of interfered in any way of my camping experience. It is so disappointing to see trees that were here last summer not here anymore. 2) THERE WERE A GROUP OF 45 kids screaming and running around at 6:45 AM. I thought quiet hours were until 8:00 AM, but it looks like management doesn't care about enforcing those policies around here at all. Also raccoons are crazy and I didn't see or here any warning signs about them. They weren't this bad last year. THESE POLICIES SHOULD BE ENFORCED if you are putting them on a website encouraging people to come. read more

Yayyyyyy love love his place definitely will come back with my daughter. The campsite was really peaceful they have a small store with anything you forgot. Clean and peaceful :) amazing kid and dog friendly read more

I'd give you 3 for cleanliness and ease of locating and also for the gorgeous activities nearby (Beaches, hiking, etc.) but here are the detractors - 1. Too crowded - too many families, too many campers, too many activities and neighbors are WAY too close. People camp to "get away," and you just can't get away from anyone in this campground. Playgrounds, dogs, RV's, hundreds of families, horseback riding - it's just all too much. 2. Enforcement - 10pm - 8am is quiet time. I arrived at 10:00pm the first night so we were warned to "keep it down." The following night, the ranger was nowhere to be seen as our neighbors partied, screamed, laughed and hollered until 1:00am. 3. No privacy - the campgrounds are located in the middle of a vast clearing between a ring of trees. As gorgeous as the area is, there is no shade, no escaping the weather and you are constantly wet because of the coastal location. The tall grass gets everything muddy and wet constantly (dew and fog every morning and evening). We spent the weekend soggy. 4. Maintenance - porto potties were never cleaned out from Friday - Sunday. By Sunday late morning (10am) the waste was almost overflowing. Just disgusting - thank God for the brick and mortar bathrooms which were a LONG trek from our camp site but worth it to not sit in someone else's waste. We'll be camping elsewhere next time. Great crowd of people so it was a super fun weekend but the campgrounds need to do more to accommodate so many people or disallow so many people all at once. read more

Great campground, the restrooms were clean but not impeccable like one would think since they close them for two hours to clean...lost one star...Hot showers available. Judy at the front gate/desk was great..very helpful. Playground was in fair order for the kids.. Make sure to bring flashlights.. Grounds are very dark.. They do have a large laundry facility with industrial size washers and dryers and a post office too.. Firewood available on site fair priced... Cheaper than Safeway.. Site come with a large picnic table and fire ring to use. Than gosh I have a RV because watching people try and back their huge trailers into the spots was quite entertaining.. Expert level...Dog friendly...so watch out for dog shit, it's everywhere...loose one star for that read more

By far the most horrible campground i have ever been to. Its basically a large lot where someone put numbered stakes every few feet to separate each "campsite". The morning we were scheduled to come in the whole park flooded. We had called every other park in the San Francisco area and there was nothing. The lady in the office was awesome and got us in another spot for 2 nights while the one we reserved cleared up. The spot J8 we stayed in had a lot of trees and was really nice. Although the whole park was muddy and damp, it just seems as though it rains a lot there. Other people may say its pricey but in comparison to other parks in the San Francisco area its reasonable. Did not use the restrooms but the laundry room was clean and had huge dryers which were well priced. read more

If you can't get in a Samuel P then this is another option... basically a grass parking lot with fire rings LoL...good for first time campers and family's. Good clean restrooms. This is our second time here and we really love this place, what we don't like... we are in 201 campsite, so we have a really good view of the bathroom. We watched the lady clean the bathrooms for about 4 1/2 hours. Now nothing better than a clean bathroom, but when your wanting to shower or use the restroom that is am incredibly long time. I had to go ask how much longer she would be. So owners just a heads up on your salary, should never take that long to clean a bathroom. She took a long time on Saturday to. read more

Just got home from our first trip to Olema Campground. We stayed 2 nights in site number 2. I'll start by saying the campsites are TINY and very close together. There are hardly and trees and absolutely zero privacy in your camp. The bathrooms were clean and nice on the first day, but by the second day they were a mess. There were signs posted on the door saying "EMERGENCY SHOWERS ONLY" they were having septic problems and they were asking you to not flush the toilets and not to shower. The sites are pretty expensive for tent sites. The positives are :The Campground was very quiet. No one stayed up late making noise. There is a store, post office and laundromat on site. There is also free wifi. Very close to Stinson beach and cute little towns. I might come back, but I will definitely pick a different campsite. read more

There's more smoke here than a Reggae concert! Damn there's not a mosquito for miles... It's like these people just learned what fire is! This campsite is worse than sleeping in the middle of an elementary school yard filled with pyromaniac children at recess next to a fire drill at a rap concert at half time of a Super Bowl game! $ 56.00 for the three of us to park my truck on a section of grass and spend the night. It's only 09:30 pm. Perhaps they will knock off at 10:30pm? Somehow I bet the rap music subwoofer keeps going till 1am or so. 1am, nope. Still going. Got to keep positive! read more

This place is pretty nice for a private RV "resort," which usually just means that the place will charge you a steep fee to sleep in a parking lot. This spot has a few tent-only sites and quite a few pull-in sites for people in RVs or (like us) in a VW bus. It's not in a forest, by any means, but it meets the camping essentials by being surrounded by some tall trees, a creek and the occasional bleat from cows in fields nearby. Fire rings are well-maintained. The overnight fee is almost unreasonably expensive, but they apologize for it by having a post office, laundromat and other services on-site. Not camping, but as close as you can really expect to get in the area. read more

Spent a weekend here with family and friends. The campsite itself was pretty nice. The campgrounds were all packed close together but that want a big issue for us. Against all reviews, I stayed here anyway. Long story short I've learned my lesson. We stayed for 3 days. When I pulled in I thought somebody was in my spot. Again, I was wrong. They put tents between trailers. Literally between them. Our neighbors are less than 7' from our door. We had to ask 1 of the 3 neighbors to move their tent because we couldn't extend our slide. Night 1: Our power goes out and then goes on and off all night. We woke up in the middle of the night freezing. First thing on day 2 I find the maintance worker. He found loose wires in the parks breaker box. That night, while buying firewood, I asked the manager if I could have 50% off 1 nights stay for the inconvenience and the fact that our trailer could have easily burnt down. He laughed at me and said I'm being dramatic. He said he'd give me $5 off if I didn't waste anymore of his time. This place is a joke. I'd rather stay at Love's then pay the outrageous prices for a cramped, no shade, no room, run down campsite. read more

I took my Girl Scout troop here this weekend as we had to cancel at another camp site due to wildfires. I was so glad to have found Olema! We had four 9-year-old girls and two adults so we had a large six-person tent and a smaller 3-person tent. Yes, the sites are small and you get to know your neighbors very well, but for us it worked out. My scouts got to play at the playground, there was plenty of space for them to run around and explore and the campground-organized evening storytime around the campfire was outstanding!! The proximity to Pt. Reyes was marvelous as we spent most of our second day there. The staff was extremely friendly, the bathrooms were clean and when they needed attention, someone was there to clean them. Myself and the other parent who went were very happy with the campground. I would recommend this campsite to families and those who want to explore the coast. It was great! read more

This is a private campground located very near the national seashore. We did not plan our trip ahead and this was the only place we could find with availability, We got lucky and were the only ones staying in one of the loops for two nights. And...we picked a very beautiful and magical spot, site 12, from their website. Olema does an excellent job of putting space between sites and keeping everyone autonomous and spaced out during Covid and not using a lot of services. The coyotes called across the hills at night. read more

Stayed here 3 nights in an RV. It was OK. Decent amenities, not fabulous. Decent scenery, not fabulous. Campsite a bit small and not well separated from neighbors. Most RV sites include only water/electric, only a few have sewer. Price a bit steep, but this is Marin so no surprise. Office has pretty short hours; if you need anything outside of 9-5, tough luck. Very close to Point Reyes visitor center, probably it's most appealing feature. I'd stay here again, but only after trying other options. read more

Pretty area but campground definitely needs improvements made considering the hefty rates they charge. The woman at the front desk was really rude to our group leaders when we tried to ask questions about services, Don't plan on the advertised Wi-Fi service working unless you have access to the "Staff" account. Dusty roads impact experience since many campsites are right on the road. 50 Amp sites for RVs only provide about 29 Amps at times. Laundry is used not only by campers but many people that live in Point Reyes. Washers and dryers not kept up for cleanliness and function. Group meeting space was really old and funky. Lots of loud music and partying around campfires late at night. read more

Well we had a great weekend, the weather was great for camping and the evenings were nice as well. We had nice service at check in from a very nice young man and got us (our friends and us) taken care of quickly. Our campsites had some cover and plenty of room to operate out of one campground. No asphalt for the sites but very flat. I did not have to level at my site. A little extra dust but they even had a water truck come around a couple times a day to keep that down. The place seemed fairly full and although the noise level went up in the evenings it was fun and laughter not rowdy, and quiet time was observed by all. The store is not completely stocked but the Market in Point Reyes is only 2 miles away. We found some great hiking down the road, and a nice little farmers market on Saturday in Point Reyes. I guess a plus for me, was how close it is to our home(40 min.) I would have liked to have sewer hook up but on the way out it was a short line and only about 15-20 minutes. I think we would do it again read more

Olema Campground gets 3 stars for being available last minute on a Friday night in the off season when all nearby campsites were booked way in advanced. You're basically in an open field very close to your neighbors. It was recommended to us by the ranger from Samuel P Taylor who could tell we were active and wouldn't actually spend much time at the campgrounds other than to sleep. I can imagine how chaotic and loud it would be when the grounds are full. Price is $42/night which I think is way too high for what it is. There is free wifi though. read more

Great campground and RV Park overall. They have respectfully separated the tent campers from us RVers. We stayed with our RV in Site Bay 103, which backed up to a lovely meadow. Here are the sites I recommend for RV's (especially if you prefer a bit more privacy like we do): Bay 103 Or 104, Cedar 124-128, Dogwood 144, Gum 230, Fir 222, Elm 214. The wood is $12/bundle. There is a small kids play area and a small dog run. We stayed in the end of November and 2 Days before Thanksgiving it was busy but lovely, the day before Thanksgiving it was packed and like a different park altogether! VERY busy! We don't mind it, but if you prefer seclusion this isn't the park for you! We would definitely stay again, but probably only off season as I imagine in the summer it is packed and loud. We adore the town of Point Reyes Station, which is just a 5-minute drive away. We HIGHLY recommend Cafe Reyes for some of the best wood-fired pizza you'll ever have as well as spoiling yourself with some local oysters and a pint of beer. You deserve it! read more

Spent 2 nights in October here and we wanted a quiet site, so Ed gave us a campground in the 400 series. Definitely alot quieter in this area than in the other areas. (Maybe, it's busier in spring/summer and this series gets busy at those times) The only downfall is that the bathroom is quite far, especially if you go to the bathroom numerous times. The bathroom closest to us...did have hot water, but this certain bathroom had REALLY bad plumbing. I think that the flush doesn't work well and you have to wait sometime and keep flushing it. In the AM, two out of three toilets were clogged. Nice that there's an area to clean your dishes and that there's hot water. Be careful washing late at nite, there are racoons. This campground does not accept credit cards, so you need to send a check prior to your arrival. I'm not really keen with writing checks anymore, so it took a while for me to mail the envelope & check. It's not roughin' it really here, but definitely kid friendly. I don't have kids so heads up that there is a playground...get my drift? read more
