Beautiful setting but loud campers everywhere playing their music. Doesn't seem like there are any rules around this during the daytime. We were trying to escape the city life for some nature but ended up leaving early. If you want to throw a big party with tons of noisy people, this is your place. Not a peaceful getaway. Bathrooms are also not well kept. Will not be returning unless ownership changes. read more

Clean campground but a bit tired. Friendly and helpful staff at the office. Would definitely stay again.

We have been camping for 4 decades. Hands down this is the worse campground we have stayed at. A large field with as many people and cars as could possibly fit!!! Anything over 2 stars is fake. read more

~THE COSTCO OF CAMPING~ The 1 and 2 star Yelpers are right about this place. They DO NOT enforce quiet time. If you want to drink, SHOUT, pillage and rage without interruptions, then you will find your people here. Our experience was horrible and unfortunately we left the next day! Olema campground, if you are reading this, we booked Fir # 226 for 8/3/18 & 8/4/18 and left 8/4 instead of 8/5 because of the drunken madness. The party goes occupied #222 - 219. There were about 15 - 20 of them all in their 20's blaring Rap music and shouting until 2am. More and more cars came in the middle of the night, growing the party larger. I never saw the grounds keepers patrol once. The next morning they woke up and stared playing beer pong and taking shots at 8:30 am with the Rap music back on, BLARING.They got so hammered they couldn't drive anywhere. Instead they played football. Because they were so drunk, they couldn't catch and repeatedly threw ball into my beautiful 2016 Tacoma (at 9am in the morning mind you). I opted to leave by 10am with ZERO plans to return. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY CAMPGROUND !!!! I then had take my truck in for detailing to buffer out dings and scratches from the drunks football mishaps. Another expense. I asked Olema prior to booking about these one and two Yelp reviews regarding quiet time not being enforced? The assured me they do. LIES! Only positive is showers are no additional charge and neither are pets. Sorry Olema..... as a Sonoma County local, I was hoping this place would work out for easy weekend getaways. Maybe you can redeem yourself one day? read more

This place has gone downhill. When we arrived at 5:15pm on Friday, the office door was opened. We went inside to check in and were quickly ushered out by a women stating that they have been trying to close for 15 minutes. Oook. Lock your doir then. Or stay open on a Friday so campers can check in. We were told to fill out a form and place it through a slot in the door. Then she went in and locked us out. We hadn't bought fire wood and there was no after hours host. So campers are left to their own devices after 5 apparently. There was zero security or checking of campgrounds. Someone pulled i to a camp site 3 spots down and the sheriff told us the next day that the driver had kidnapped a child. What?! The type of people staying here was "interesting". A lot if kids running around freely, which is fine but it was a little out of control. We had 2 dead trees next to us. A fire hazard for sure. I'm shocked that there is no after hours host on site. No one checking to see if people are even in the right campsites or supposed to be there. Won't be returning for sure. The positives, we had a good time with friends and we were able to but wood the next day when the office opened. Most of the kids were quiet at night. They have flush toilets, hot water, and showers. read more

I wish Yelp would create a "less than zero" rating because there are a few select businesses richly deserving of such. We reserved what we thought was a "50-amp, full hook-up" site a month out. After a roughly 250-mile journey in our motorhome, we arrived last night to a dodgy "30-amp, no sewer hook-up, and definitely no-apology and no-refund" site instead. They would send the honey wagon around to drain the black/gray tanks, however. For $15. I spoke to the manager just now, Gabby. She offered a full-refund--to hit the road. Yes, I'm sure we'd find lots of opportunities for 2 more nights of camping close by today with no reservations. In the mean time, the 30-amp connection is so bad at this site we could not run the microwave (with no other electrical load) without it popping the breaker. I had to run the generator to finish breakfast for the family. Later, talking to Gabby, during which she told me I should have known I wasn't necessarily going to get a 50-amp spot (how would I know this, exactly?) she asked if I had read the "rules and regs" on their website? Warily, cautiously, I asked, "No. Are you saying I'm in violation of something?" "We don't allow generators here. I'll make an exception for you." How sweet of you. It's a nicely-located campground being mis-managed and short-changed into the ground. It's one thing for a campground to be older and have infrastructure that would have been OK in the 1970's. Just disclose it prior to reserving and let the RV'er make the choice. It's another to ask for a 50-amp, full hook-up site and then be pushed into a site upon arrival worth perhaps 50% less without a simple, "This is all we have. Is this OK?" Never, never, never returning. read more

Great place great location... I can understand why some people have given this place bad reviews but that's got nothing to do with the camp.. I am a rookie camper and by camper I mean RV camping.. Came to this site as out first choice was sold out.. We made a good choice... Weather was good and area was super nice Area is pretty clean they have a playground for kids and there's a river that runs near the camp. Yes the spots are close to each other but we made instant friends with each of out neighbors except a grumpy old man that prob was jealous that we parked our 40 footer next to his lil old Camper.. Everyone we came upon was friendly and they had a story teller on sat which kept my nephew very entertained. They have a truck everyone know and the. Water down the gravel road to keep the dust down which is good. Bathroom facilities were not the cleanest or impeccable as some of other campsites but they were clean and well kept. ( can't compare a 5 star hotel to a holiday inn is what I'm trying to say) But blame the salty air Hahahah.... Some people have complained about about raccoons but what do you want the camp to do??? Shoot them?? That's the campers fault for leaving food outside.. Overall we like the place it was good location had a friendly environment . Plus a bus stopped by that took us to point Reyes station for some goods..... If you looking for a nice super quiet place to stay then this is not your place... But if you want to bring your dog, kids and bikes and have a good time then this is def your place.. read more

I accidentally brought my bike into the general store/registration area when I arrived and was rudely told to take my bike outside by a staff member. I apologized immediately and the staff member replied with if I am that worried about my bike I shouldn't be staying at a campground. Not the best experience when you are checking in. Add the campground being run down and the $45 dollar a night fee for a tent sight to this experience and you get one star. read more

A basic place. Very swampy after or during a rain. If you need hook ups they seemed to work for us

Overall a nice place in the Pt Reyes Area. Pretty quiet in the trailer area. Dog friendly with a dog run and had a small kids playground. Dirt roads on the property could use some grooming as the were some pretty large ruts in places. And the road dirt was very fine and dusty. A water truck came through to manage the dust but then just made it slightly muddy. Some gravel laid down would have been a better solution. Bathrooms were cleaned several times a day but quickly became muddy. Again because of the dust and water on the roads and pathways. Would stay again. read more

First time camping here. Scored a 4 just because my family has really bad allergies and the whole campsite was very dusty, and cars tend to drive faster than the 5 mph; not a lot of trees, just enough to create some shades areas over some camp sites. Other than that we'd score it a 5. To make reservations: front desk is very nice and responsive via phone messages and emails. They require payment up front for your reservation; No refunds although rebooking/using the credit for another date was easy peasy. Kids friendly site. During the summer months obviously a lot of kids and families camping. But during quiet hours (10p-8a) noise was minimal. Activities they had shuffle board, horseshoes, volleyball net and equipment to checkout. Restrooms. We're pretty clean, they had cleaning staff that appeared to come in day and night to clean and replenish. Didn't use the showers, but everyone seemed to use them. Interior lighting was good. Campsite/roads etc. Can be dusty. They do have a truck that comes through to spray day and night but if you are camping next to the road be prepared. Hosts are nice and aren't overbearing how some National Parks can be. Pets are allowed and seen often on walks and at camp sites. They provide doggie doo-doo bags on site. We didn't use / try the dog play park. NOTE: make sure your dog food is "put away" at night... the raccoons got us. So we started locking up in the truck. Site is close to Point Reyes National Park beaches, light house, Tule Elk Reserve, and about 25-30 minutes from Stinson beach. Great location for a lot of activities. We called to ride horses and the cost was aprox. $50 for an hour long ride up the ride to overlook the ocean. If we go, we will rate on that site. read more

I really enjoyed the location of the campground as it was central the Pt. Reyes National seashore. I have a14' trailer and picked a nice spot to easily pull in to that provided water and power. The park was clean and had the added benefit of having a dog run. It's a great way to meet other campers and learn when they are traveling from and to. Check in was easy and they honored my Good Sam discount. Fortunately I stayed during the week and it was not full. The campsites are angled so your not right next to your neighbor which gave a little privacy but they are close to each other. Bathrooms were clean except in the morning the shower drain was not working and needed repairs. The key to camping here is planning to enjoying the area as much as possible in seeing the parks, ocean and beautiful drives. read more

Olema Campground - My way of getting away - Campgrounds Near Me - Olema, California

This is a very nice campsite for both RV and tent camping. We were tent-camping so this review reflects only that. Reasons why I would return: Wi-fi available and cell phone access (at least by Verizon). Storytelling by a professional storyteller for children & families on saturday nights. Playground area for children. Places to play games such as Volleyball, Tetherball, and Shuffleboard. An on-site Catholic Church At the entrance to the park, there is an onsite Post Office, Laundro-mat, and a store where you can buy more charcoal, wood, and simple supplies but they don't carry milk, butter, juice, eggs or anything like that. If you need more ice or dairy, just drive north to the next town about 1.5 miles to Point Reyes Stationhouse. Very clean bathrooms with free hot showers (as opposed to the coin-operated ones in most other places) Dishwashing stations. There are security guards in golf carts that patrol the premises to make sure the park rules are followed. A COUPLE OF THINGS YOU MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW: There are racoons everywhere, but if you'r a camper, you already expect that. Just pack your stuff away tightly before going to sleep. Individual campsites are not that big, so you might be a little close to your neighbors if you have campers on both sides of you. read more

'Murica! You get a camping plot, a water spigot, a picnic bench, a shower, and a bathroom. Ain't fancy, but it gets the job done. There's also a few items to purchase at the camp office, such as firewood and a few other things. It reminds me of a less manicured, less commercialized KOA site. No real complaints and nothing incredibly outstanding either. It's affordable and often times has vacancies where the state parks are full. The bonuses are the pony rides and the evening story telling, which we did neither and can't report on it. It's conveniently located right outside of the quaint yet very small hamlet of Olema, where you can walk to a few restaurants and a deli. My family and I stayed here a few nights while checking out Point Reyes. I would do it again, but I'm not rushing back there. Tip: if camping, take one of the spots along the forest, you'll get more privacy. Also, get both a batch of the pine and the hardwood for the fire. Start with the pine and move to the hardwood once you get it started. read more

Us and our friends love the campground. Very clean great spots, and the circled layout is great for groups. However this weekend we were scheduled to all go for my sons third birthday. The camp fire is still in full swing and the air quality is beyond unhealthy. We ALL have young kids and I also have a newborn. Some of our group was actually directly effected by the fire. I called to Thursday ( check in Friday ) to see if we can cancel their spot and receive a refund due to the fire. They said NO! This morning ( Friday ) we checked the air quality and once again shows unhealthy in Olema. I have no desire to have my son/friends and newborn in this smoke. I called to see if we could please get a refund, NO. I asked for camp credit then and he said they usually don't offer camp credit to groups. Okay so let me understand this, you would like us to put our family and children in unhealthy conditions? I will attach a photo so you can see where it says unhealthy stay inside! The campground is great but it's very alarming that the people working here are okay with people putting themselves at risk with their health and a new baby. Makes me re-think this campground unfortunately. read more

After many years of tent camping, we finally upgraded to a travel trailer. I have never liked camping around RVs, and RV resorts have always seemed to me like the worst type of camping. So it was, with great trepidation, that we booked our very first "parking lot campground." We arrived after dark, so there wasn't much to see, but we easily found our loop and had plenty of room to back in our 20' trailer, even with the neighboring spots full. Fast forward to morning...I poke my head out the door, and I see...a really nice campground! What?!?! Clean and grassy and lots of big trees and happy kids riding their bikes, and, most importantly, NO GENERATORS. IT never occurred to me that when everyone has hook-ups, nobody needs to run their loud, peace-disrupting generators! OK, so preconceptions about "parking lot camping" shattered. This might not be so bad after all! We had a very roomy spot in the "Holly" loop. I would say that not all spots are created equal in this campground. We got very lucky booking this prime spot on a last-minute cancellation. There are other, far more crowded spots that I probably would not have been so happy with. Any of the "loop" spots (named after trees) are nice ones, though. Some other reasons to camp here: --Super friendly staff --Always hot showers (As another reviewer mentioned, some showers are better than others. At our bathroom, the middle shower had tons of water pressure, and the end shower put out a mist.) --Dust control --Cleanliness (The bathrooms do get trashy during peak times, but they were quickly cleaned.) --LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! This is the prime spot for exploring Point Reyes (the visitor center is just down the street), and with very few other campground options nearby, this place really has quite a monopoly. My only major complaint was that the campground store was poorly stocked (only the bare essentials) and closes early, which is an issue as there are really no other markets in Olema (though Point Reyes Station is nearby). Oh, and the Wi-Fi is REALLY slow. I would gladly stay here again, and I am quite grateful to them for making my much-dreaded, first "parking lot campground" experience a positive one. BONUS TIP: There is nowhere to find any real supplies in Olema, but there is an AMAZING market and some very good restaurants in Point Reyes Station. Definitely worth the two-mile drive down the road. read more

Olema Campground - Our spot. Even though the rig next to us was very close, we had tons of space on our other side. - Campgrounds Near Me - Olema, California

I cannot recommend this place to anyone unless you are a first timer with kids, and want something easy. The pros: -An on-site store and laundromat, very convenient. -Location is good, close to Pt. Reyes Station. The cons: -Absolutely ZERO privacy. The sites are tiny/narrow and super close to each other. You can hear your neighbors all day/all night. Our neighbor's baby woke up at 3AM and started screaming...no one in the tent was able to sleep for the next hour. -The "enforcers/staffs" were very rude yet still inefficient. Our neighbor only had 50% of her space available because the people next to her parked their van in the middle her site. They were gone for the whole day so the park staff couldn't do anything about it--INSTEAD they asked us to squeeze in so we can all "share our space with our neighbors". -Almost no tree/shade at all. -Lots of kids, they could bike through your site or just scream in the morning. -Legion of ravens (morning) and raccoons (night) will come to you. Last thing, if you are in a minority ethnic group, be extra careful and make sure you are super clear with all the rules--our group managed to follow all the rules yet still got "checked on" 3 times during our short stay. Neighbors were breaking rules but somehow these staff just got blinded and drove by. Being rude is one thing, being racist in 2018 California is just unbelievable. Not going back. read more

If you want to rough it while camping, this site is probably not for you. Plenty of water faucets located throughout Flushing toilets Hot Showers Electricity outlets for the RVs and... a LAUNDROMAT! When I first arrived, I was pretty amazed with all the amenities the site had to offer. Checking in was easy, and the staff were resourceful and friendly. They also sell firewood for $8.50 a bag. At first, I thought we were barely camping, but I quickly appreciated hot running water and clean bathrooms. I wish there was more space between the camp sites, because we really had to keep our voices down at night, even though all we wanted to do was laugh and chat over the camp fire. One thing that we did was harvest cattails from the wetlands, a short walk north of the campgrounds. Not sure if we are allowed to do this, but we did. Check out this website for some pointers on how to prepare them (http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Plants.Folder/Cattails.html). I had never seen/eaten these before, but they were delicious, stirfried with pork we bought at the Inverness Store (http://www.yelp.com/biz/inverness-store-inverness), and some seasonings! I give this place 5 stars and they earned it. 1. I called a week before we came to get reservations. They offered me several options that fit the time we were going to be there. I asked them to e-mail me the information so I could make a choice on camping sites. They did so promptly and without hesitation. When I called back with questions about the different locations, they were patient and described the different spots I was interested in. The result: Spot #176 in the back of the campground. Quiet with lots of shade, level and reasonable grass. 2. They honored a %10 Good Sam discount. 3. The showers were HOT and plenty of hot water. I love 30 minute hot showers!! The only "issue" was that the showers are individual but the changing area is a common area. There are 2 showers per facility. The bathroom facilities seem older but they were as clean as you can expect for an older facilities. They were well maintained. Everything worked and nothing was broken. 4. The campground in general was well maintained. The lawns were all nicely cut, I did not see a single campsite out of service and dump facility was clean. The play area was small but adequate. They had horse shoe pits and shuffleboard areas all in good shape. Over all the campground was very quiet. 5. Location - This location is awesome. No more than .5 hour from anything in the area. The lighthouse, beaches, bike riding, Oyster Farms etc.....All with-in 30 minutes or less. What more can you ask for? Complaints?? NONE!!! This is not a "resort" campground. People do not bring you fufu coffeee in the morning, no one turns down your covers for you nor do they bring you a paper in the morning. This campground was as good as any I have been to and the price was exceptionally reasonable for the location. One Observation: The camping circles are tight.especially when the occupancy is higher and people have their rigs parked by their trailers. You need to do a little recon before you pull in so you don't have to spend 10 minutes backing up and pulling forward so you can back your trailer into the campsite. I watched many people play this exact same game during the 5 days we were there. read more

This site is in a central area around Pt Reyes, and for the price, is a 'good deal' for this busy/popular tourist location. Its 'out of the way', but town is 2 miles away for supplies. That being said: apparently few people read the rules concerning being 'considerate campers'. Office Lunch Hours: 12-1pm--so they are closed. The mask policy exists due to Covid and possibly getting the few office staff members sick. The office closes at 5pm and QUIET HOUR starts at 10pm-8am. Well, not too many people are aware of this and I wish Office Staff would be more proactive reminding EACH and EVERY person checking in: 10pm Quiet Hour means: QUIET (whispers in tents, no music, quiet conversation around firepits and being respectful to your neighbors sleeping 10 feet away)! In the tent-only areas (especially the super large meadow) there are loud drunken parties till 2:30 am, extremely loud voices; screaming/singing and other antics and no staff to police anything--Not even a live-in Camp Host (or Security)! The RV area seemed quiet and tame (older adults with $$ and are in bed by 9pm & follow the rules). The tent only area was literally The Wild West--BRING EARPLUGS! There are barking dogs, car alarms going off all hours of night, people using car fobs to lock doors with honking horns/ flashing headlights all hours....snoring from nearby tents, electric air blowers for mattresses going at 10pm; ya get the picture. It isn't all that 'quiet'.... Pluses: HOT showers if you get there before the crowds, paper towels and hand soap in the tiled bathrooms. Some of the place is dated and old, but that is the fun/rustic aspect of the site. I certainly haven't seen ANY camping places with sparkling clean bathrooms! read more

This place is absolutely perfect for the type of camping we wanted to do, we loved it w/our teardrop, raccoons weren't a bother ( RACOONS ARE if you are tent camping!! DON'T DO TENTS!) and we were able to take our teeny tiny teardrop into the campsite area designated for tents only. They let us do this three times and we were coming on a monthly basis. We tried to make a reservation for this month and called it in. My husband spoke with a woman named Gabby, and when he got off the phone he was blown away. She hung up on him !! He simply was wondering why she would no longer allow us to camp in the tent area and she gave him a lecture, telling him she would allow him to do it one more time, and then never again. She would also charge us extra for our truck. This was pretty disturbing because we loved the campground & the staff had been super nice. We had even commented on how friendly everyone was! I would suggest to the manager, Gabby, to learn that treating a customer badly kinda hurts your business. If you camp with a small tent I would definitely NOT recommend this place (HUGE RACOONS) , & if you have any sort of RV don't go, they jam you in close quarters and the spots are highly unattractive. Support staff was wonderful though. I am so glad I read all of the other reviews today. We had no idea that it could be such a potential "problem campground"-we got lucky. I would definitely not recommend going, we will not be returning. Also a lot of people flying big huge American flags the last time we were there & it was not the 4th of July. My husband and I both commented on how jampacked the RV area was. Thumbs way down-the 4 star reviews are in the minority. We pre paid/reserved a site for $57 and then woke up to the owner taking pictures of us, threatening to call the police and have us arrested for trespassing if we did not pay 3x the amount we had already paid. The site we stayed at is a little too packed and close together for me. I literally walk out my door to my neighbors sewer which is gross. We pretty much stayed inside our unit as we were so close to the neighbors and it didn't feel we were socially distant safe. Very rustic sites if in/not in full hook-up section, with not much tree cover for shade. Having just stayed for 5 days, I can see why the Yelp reviews are so varied. Keep in mind, this is a campsite for car camping not adventure backpacking so if you're looking for a secluded environment where you can have a spacious site and commune with nature, chose one of the nearby hike-in campgrounds or go significantly further north. If you want a cheap place to pitch a tent with clean bathrooms & friendly neighbors & staff, this place is perfect. On the nights we were there, everything was super quiet by 10pm. While some people are calling this a zoo, I found it to be much quieter & calmer than the Petaluma KOA and other places where we've actually packed up and left since it was so loud and crazy. Our first night was a Saturday night and it was packed. Lots of kids, dogs, families playing kickball & enjoying the weekend together. It was super quiet at night, but the sites are close to each other & you will hear your tented neighbors cough, talk, bark, whatever. The rest of the week, the place was pretty empty in the tented areas. We had a cute spot nestled in trees, and my son had a huge grassy area to run around & a playground play with other kids. There are two fields for tents. One is huge and open and far from the bath houses so they provide porta-potties. The trade-off is that the back field gets better (though not perfect) cell phone reception if you don't want to be totally cut-off. We were in the front field where there are more trees and the spots are more cozy. Also, the bathhouse towards the front has individual bathrooms with privacy. The ones towards the center of camp felt more like being in the bathroom of my health club. read more

This is a private campsite so the cost is about triple what you would pay for a state or national park. We went on a Holiday Weekend which I guess was our first mistake. They have 200 sites for tents and RV's and you are practically on top of each other. The bathrooms were barely cleaned once a day and by 5:00 in the afternoon were absolutely atrocious. Disgusting may be more accurate. You would think with that many sites occupied, and the cost you pay to be there, they would have enough staff to clean the bathrooms more than once a day. And then there were the racoons. They did have notices up at the bathrooms and on the lower half of the office doors. But they give you this handout when you check in about what to do and not to do. But not a single word on the racoons. And nothing from the staff when we checked in about not leaving anything out at all. We got raided by racoons the very first night. Fortunately we reacted fast and put all the food into the car, but forgot about my dogs food. They went into my gazebo, opened a tote and dragged a huge bag of dog food out and back into the wooded area right behind our tents. Well the racoons had a feast that night. Not to mention that we could hear them fighting each other over the food. It was pretty scary. Thank goodness the dogs were in the tents. Overall the location is beautiful but this is one site I will never go back to again. read more

Not a great campground by any means. In the summer it is dusty, has very little shade, and campers drink and scream all day and night. RV and trailer sites are average but the rules are not enforced. I had to ask the front desk staff two separate times to talk with the people in the RV around the corner about their blaring music. I wasn't that close to these people but I couldn't even be inside my trailer without hearing their music. Bathrooms were fair and the proximity to Point Reyes is great but between the drunks laughing and yelling all night and the blaring music it was terrible. The front desk staff was nice and offered to refund a night if we wanted to leave but in general there was no effort made to have any kind of a camping or RV experience. If you want to drink and scream all night...please go to this campground because you will find your people here. I will be elsewhere enjoying a campfire and seeing the stars. read more
