This staple has been around forever. You're hard pressed to find a restaurant that's been consiste as long as Ole Piper. The breakfast options are usually why I'm stopping by, and their pancakes and omelets are delicious. Very reasonably priced, large portions, and filled with flavor. There's a large vodka selection, and they're pretty well known for their Bloody Mary's, so if that's your thing, this is probably a place to try out. We tried Ole Piper years ago. People had recommended it. I don't get it. We tried in store and also delivery. Both were horrible. We were in their delivery area, but they delivered cold food and blamed us for the food being cold because we ordered it delivered. Funny, since other places can deliver hot food. Took my little brother for his birthday and we both ordered the Reuben I was a little upset with the corned beef it was more sauerkraut than meat. I ordered food from ole piper inn tonight through door dash. I ordered 2 chef salads I asked and paid for extra dressing and extra breadsticks. Problem is the order came with garlic bread which I do not care for. One of the Chef salads had no cheese on it, I decided to call ole piper inn and asked to speak with supervisor, talked with Bill, his response was Our chef salads do not come with cheese, that's odd as the menu says it does and my salad had cheese on it, the other did not. Our first visit and we went for breakfast. It was nice and busy for 8:00am on a Saturday. Everything was really good. Queso benedict was delicious. A little spice and a perfectly ripe avocado. Ham and cheese omelette also very good. Very cheesy and good quality ham. American style breakfast with sausage patties and subbed biscuits and gravy, again very good. The sausage patties were great quality, fantastic flavor. Very reasonably priced. Service was good. Plenty of parking. They have alot of tv's which would be nice for watching sports. Busy restaurant during the day, parking lot was full and we had to wait for a table. The line for pull tab was also long. They have a full bar one side and booths on the otherside. Today I was up visiting family and had some free time and really wanted to come back and have my favorite Hang Over Hashbrowns again! They did not disappoint either! Ole Piper has a great menu, a comfortable space and excellent service. The food is always spot on as well. I almost always get the Hangover Hashbrowns with a side of Hollandaise. Low in fat...not at all. Worth it...Yes! The Hashbrowns are perfectly cooked, delicious sauteed onion and green peppers, jalapenos, and sausage over the top with cheese and an egg of your choice (I do over easy for this). I add some Sriracha and I am in heaven! The service is always friendly and efficient and the ambiance is a diner type feeling with a bit of a bar vibe. Since moving to Coon Rapids I've passed this spot many times off of hwy 65. Today I decided to give it a try! Feel like you need to be a regular here. Not a very friendly place or crowd. People looked unhappy in the bar. Drinks and service were fine.

This location is convenient for post softball snacks and drinks. I've been here multiple times and found their food fairly mediocre. Pizzas are okay (crust could be more flavorful) and their burgers are just okay. I did try their taco salad with chicken and this was awesome. The amount of chicken to lettuce was great, lots of toppings. And I was absolutely full after this. Actually more than full. They have a decent beverage selection which is good too. The staff is very friendly but sometimes can take a bit to make all the rounds. I recognize that when we go we usually have a larger group with us. The space is clean and clearly a local favorite spot. It's worth going to but just don't expect anything crazy good. read more

It's bar food, nothing to write home about. It's good, we have always had good service. It's usually busy, so it's obviously decent food. I don't think they have anything "healthy" on the menu, but if you're hungry for a burger and fries they got you. I do like breakfast here as well, but again it tastes good, not really good for you. Tasted like they were pre cooked and microwaved. Greasy slimy chicken skin just tossed in sauce. 0/5/2024 This is always a stop when we're in town. Unfortunately, during today's visit, the waitress was extremely rude, and that's an understatement. We called ahead since we had a large group. The kind hostess showed us to our tables and even offered an additional table when they didn't have enough chairs. A few minutes later, a waitress (baseball hat on, long hair, section by kid crane games), however, was NOT happy, came over to the table and said, "You need to move. We have other customers." We explained to her nicely that the hostess offered us the table. She wasn't having it at all and said "that's too bad. Join the other tables you already have. It's not my problem you don't want to sit with the kids." Keep in mind, the kid table was full (we squished in as many as we could), the high top nearby was near full, but since I had a baby with that needed a high chair, I asked where she would like the three of us to go with the baby since the high tops won't work with a high chair. My husband asked about two other empty tables/booths that were smaller, but she said those were for other customers (although there were lots of empty tables in the restaurant and nobody waiting at that time). Asking what we should do or where we should sit, she said "figure it out. We need this table. You're not the only customers, you know." I said, "you are being very rude," and she responded with "you're just mad because you're not getting your way." I was in disbelief. I've worked in the service industry myself, but regardless of the situation, I would never speak to a customer in this manner. In fact, had she POLITELY requested we move and explained the mix up between her and the hostess, found seats for us, or offered any other solution than just "move", I wouldn't be writing this. She never once greeted us politely, apologized for the inconvenience, offered a soliton. A nearby table, who clearly had waited awhile requested to order from her, and she spent the first few minutes bitching about our group to the customers. It was an unbelievable experience - one I've never had a restaurant. She's clearly not a fan of groups, or kids with their parents in town for a tournament, or quality customer service. read more

Met my sister there yesterday. Waitress was horrible. The last time I had her as a waitress she was talking with other customers about me and my nephew, like we couldn't hear her at the next table. This time she ignored our table, never asked how our food was, or asked if we would like another drink. When I was talking with management about her she came up and said I was lying. Why would I lie? Six of us visited the Ole Piper on Saturday, December 21, with the intention of eating dinner in the bar area. No host/hostess was there to greet us, but we noticed two high top tables that if pushed together, would have easily accommodated our party. Finally when we were helped, our idea was rejected, because each table had a separate server. We then proposed having one server take care of us, and we'd compensate the other server with a gratuity fitting our order. The staff just acted very rudely, and told us to leave. I came here with my kid for lunch on a weekday holiday, at 1npm, it was pretty busy but we got seated at a booth right away. They had a kid's menu but no crayons, that's ok, I have him my pen to use. It's a casual local bar and restaurant. I ordered the reuban and waffle fries for myself and mini pancakes for the kid. I also had the bloody Mary Ruth with pickle infused vodka. While waiting there were the claw machines, including the duck machine where you win a toy every time. I had to go to the bar to get change for a $20 and didn't say 'please' to the bar tender and she called me out on it. Came with my husband and daughter. Waitstaff were very friendly. Food and coffee came out hot. Big portions for the very reasonable prices.

Went there for a good comfort food meal. Was seated promptly but was right in front of the back door and received a blast of cold air every time someone came in or went out. Ordered the hot turkey sandwich. Was extremely disappointed. Really hard to mess up, but they accomplished it. Turkey was shredded, which was fine, but it contained several pieces of bone mixed in with the meat. Had to be very careful with each bite. Mashed potatoes contained large pieces of potato skin which were not edible. Most disappointed in the gravy. Small portion and it was cold and coagulated. Just to add to the unpleasant atmosphere, it was bingo night and next to me was a table of six loud, foul mouthed people. We've been going here for years, often after church on Sundays. We've definitely noticed a difference the last two times. Today I ordered the Rueben Sandwich with fries. The sandwich had chopped corned beef instead of the standard slices of corn beef. I would estimate there was less than 2 oz. of meat. It was very greasy and lukewarm. The fries were cold as well. A few weeks ago, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with soup. The piece of fried chicken was very small, way overcooked and basically inedible. The soup (beer cheese) was tasteless. I sent this meal back and they fulfilled my request for eggs benedict instead. It was fine, but swimming in sauce. I know staffing restaurants these days is a real challenge, but even when service is slow, if the food is up to par, people are patient. Just thought you would want to know. read more
