I tried the wings on the recommendation of another reviewer and they delivered. The coating was delicious and the meat was very tender. Also tried the carne asada tacos which were good. Very small place with only 3 tables inside, but a clean friendly atmosphere. The menu is expansive for what's essentially a to-go place so I'll have to try a lot more dishes before I render an overall verdict, but it's easy to pop off and back on the Merritt on my way home so I'll be giving it a few more tries on take-out nights. read more

As someone else mentioned, this is kind of a lunch stop that's open for dinner. I think they also do a huge takeout business. GREAT food. All the ingredients are very fresh (even the beans and tortillas). I was really happy with my vegetarian burrito -- if a place can make a great veggie burrito, then you know the fundamental ingredients they are working with are quality. Ole Mole in Stamford is definitely not the best choice if you're looking for a nice night out somewhere. The restaurant is a tiny store front place with only a few tables inside, and a couple outside on the sidewalk. That being said, it's great for take out and serves tasty food that feels much more authentic than many of the other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. For appetizers, I'd recommend the Chipotle Wings. Usually I'm not a wings person, but these are great: spicy and flavorful. The sopitas are also quite good... they're large enough for an entree. I also like the Guacamole; however, it could use a bit more cilantro. Another good choice for an appetizer is the black bean soup. Topped with a dollop of sour cream, it has a nice bit of spice to it as well. For entrees, try the enchiladas suizas: the salsa verde and mole negro really make the dish. If you want a burrito, go for the Carne Asada (although pretty much all of the burritos they serve are tasty): the guacamole adds a welcome level of creaminess to the dish. The Quesadillas (the best is San Miguel) and Tacos are also uniformly very good, and a bit smaller in portion than the Entrees and Burritos. The flautas are also a more moderate-portioned dish. I would say that if you choose not to go with a burrito or an entree dish and have a big appetite, you should probably think about ordering an appetizer or one of the sides with your meal. read more

When living in Fairfield county, I used to absolutely love this place. A recent visit, however, left me far less impressed. The guacamole was average--neither spicy/flavorful enough nor quite the right consistency; several of the tortillas ordered (we were a group of four) had a strange consistency as well to at least a couple of the ingredients (mealy, rubbery chicken), and the corn fried calamari was fried to the point of sawdust. Really love the shrimp tacos and the guacamole. Husband is a big fan of the San Jose as well! I do think it is a little over-priced for what it is. I would have given four stars if not for inconsistencies- some nights they aren't on their game- some nights they are great- and by that I mean- nicely filled tacos then under-filled tacos- barely any cheese then nicely filled with cheese. Bottom line- we keep going back! Very small eat-in area so we usually take out. EDIT: Visited Ole Mole in May of 2015 and there is at least 4 times the amount of seating. This place is amazing! I look forward to coming here for a meal or two every time I am in town. Even when driving on the Merritt parkway it is so close, I stop in for a delicious meal. During a long trip, we found ourselves in CT where they don't exactly advertise on the parkway what is on the exits. Found ourselves here and the food was very good. I had a simple burrito and the wife had tacos. My only complaint is the very strong smell of bleach/cleaning chemicals and too much cilantro in the salsa. I so don't care that they only have a few seats. The food here is as good as anything I had when I lived in Arizona, and the prices are much more reasonable than MaryAnn's downtown. So far I've tried the carnitas burrito, the shredded beef burrito and the San Miguel quesadilla. The chorizo is delicious, actually all the meat was. The vegetables and spices in the burritos enhanced the protein and went down very easy. I also enjoyed the guacamole and the salsa, and the service for take-out was both pleasant and prompt. Would I like a better seating arrangement? Sure, but if I can get good food to go for a reasonable price, I don't mind eating at my dining room table. read more

We love Ole Mole and thought we could support them during the pandemic. Ordered online for pickup in store. Was told the food would be ready in 15-20 minutes. But 45 minutes later, my husband was still waiting for our order. Finally it was ready. Then the woman behind the counter lowered her face mask as she filled our bag, and then licked her fingers. We walked out without our food. We won't be returning there again. If workers aren't supervised for food safety during a pandemic, then are do they take care all the time? So sad. read more

For some very good Mexican food in Northern Stamford, this is a good bet. During the cold winter months, I might suggest not dining in, since it is small and you will notice the draft with each door opening. That being noted, it is a warm and nicely decorated interior. Most importantly, their food is very tasty. From the burritos to the tacos, they are prepared with high quality ingredients and served in filling portions. Their carnitas is one of my favorites, very tender and flavorful. And their salsa is excellent with nice fresh tomato chunks. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they had expanded and offered new seating area. Instead of taking out, we decided to eat in. Great service in a very clean place. All new kitchen and counters. The food was great - I had cheese enchiladas with rice and beans and it was very tasty - they custom made the green sauce for me so that it was extra spicy. My boyfriend had the tostatos and he really liked them. What was also great about this place was that sometimes you want to grab something to eat and not make it a big deal. This location was great for that as well as casual dates. Definitely would go back as we live in the neighborhood. read more

Loved it. Clean fresh food. I'm super picky about my Mexican food. The tacos we single tortillas, I prefer it that way. Burrito didn't have rice inside but beans instead to fill it up. I prefer that over rice inside a flour tortilla. The flan was delicious, I travel often and this was the best food off the highway. Quick, fast service, clean place, the restrooms were clean too. The portion is great, I'm not feeling stuffed or like I need a treadmill asap. The ONLY downside I think is the lack of kids menu. A lot of food did state it has some sort of pepper, my tacos had sauce on the side and the taco itself was not spicy. If you've got picky eaters it may not go so well. The Smallest Dining Room in Town For take out, Ole Mole is is quite good. The Tejano beef tacos are excellent, the chicken flautas are tasty and they have classic, very well prepared pork and chicken tamales -- but call ahead because the tamales tend to be sold out. (I can highly recommend the tamales.) The guacamole here is consistently good, though pricey. Overall, prices are higher than you would expect for take out food. The dining area at Ole Mole is a total joke, literally three tables for two and counter space for three or four more. In summer you can eat outside with the parking lot a few feet away. No beer or mixed drinks. Considering the other, very limited Mexican food options in Stamford, this place is OK for take out. But, it wouldn't last a week in San Antonio. Seriously. read more

There are many Mexican places in Stamford. This place delivers a great meal full of flavor and great friendly service. Tortilla chips: light and crispy, very fresh. Salsa chile de arbol is the hottest sauce they have. The roasted flavor and mellow heat is phenomenal. Somebody on Yelp recommended the black bean soup. Based on that we shared a bowl. I was a little disappointed that the soup was puréed with no beans but the disappointment soon left as the robust flavor hit my palette. Great black bean soup. Great authentic Mexican food! Best drive-by weekend find so far. Olé Molé is reasonably priced, fast, and delicious. The staff were so pleasant and helpful, let us know about the specials immediately. Everything is very well seasoned. A lot of places in Fairfield County claim to be "authentic Mexican" but usually it's lacking in flavor. Not here! Every ingredient was fresh and seasoned perfectly. Chips & salsa were immediately brought over to the table as we looked over the menu. We only had a few questions since we're both familiar with the food - but the waitress knew exactly how to explain the dishes. Parking is limited and the inside of the restaurant is fairly small. It can seat about 10-12 people comfortably, there's a few tables outside the place as well. But it's cozy and very clean. Just a nice place to grab a bite to eat. Prices say ($$) on here, but it's because you're getting really authentic food, that's fresh and delicious. Don't be cheap or you'll pay for what you get around here. Lol. Wow, this place was awesome. Food was delicious, staff were very attentive and ambiance was cozy and fun. Chips and salsa were solid, guac was delicious and the slightest bit spicy. Tastiest guac I've had in a while! BF's enchilada (one of the specials), was a great blend of lightness and savoriness, chicken was well marinated and deeply flavorful. I got the enchilada suiza, which was a little spicy, a little heavier, but thoroughly tasty. Really good Mexican food in Connecticut? No mames wey! I knew this was going to be good when I tasted the house made salsa and chips. I had some really good enchiladas suizas, the kid enjoyed a big chicken and bean quesadilla and grandma loved her beef tacos in a hard shell (I know, que tipa gringa!) I'm looking forward to checking out some of the more interesting dishes (the chili rellenos sounded really good) next time I'm up in the area especially if I have some more adventurous eaters with me. Easily the best, most authentic Mexican food in Stamford, with the possible exception of some of the food trucks around town. Currently open only for takeout and delivery, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and taking sound social distancing precautions, which I appreciate very much.
