We discussed the work I needed done on a rental property in Tombstone AZ, and he agreed to meet up with us at the home on the following Saturday. Cliff and his assistant arrived promptly, a little early actually, which was nice. We walked through the property and pointed out what we needed done, which was mostly outlet installs. Cliff gave us several suggestions on good places to install them. A few of our heavy duty appliances had been tripping the breaker, so he explained to us in detail how he could fix that also. To our surprise, he was able to schedule the work to be done within a few days. We don't reside in town so the work needed to be done without us on the premises. During our meeting, he was friendly and felt very trustworthy so we left him our keys to the place and within days he had completed the job. Payment was a breeze and we found his charges quite reasonable. We traveled back to our home a few weeks later, anxious to see the work that was done. What I will say is "WOW!!!" All the outlets were installed as requested, new lines for our mini-split and our troubled appliances going into a different circuit. Then came the test... could we run the washer and dryer at the same time without it tripping? YES!!! I never thought something so simple could bring me such happiness! Especially bad reviews but I feel it's my duty to let the public know what kind of worker this guy is. I should have listened to the other workers on the job who warned me that this guy was screwing me over. This is your warning. Listen to it and run! He will bleed you dry and ask for more and more money despite not doing any work. He seems nice enough but is very manipulative. Problems that I experienced. -without power for +10 weeks after telling me it would be 2 weeks and start tomorrow. -Does not know even basic code ..."Electricians don't know ALL the codes" he says -Drilled multiple holes in my roof and did not tell me -Put wrong gauge wire in for electric stove after I told him to put in the correct wiring -Put a floor outlet in for my fridge after I told him not to. Yes he cut a 3x6 hole in my hardwood floors. -75% of Outlets and overhead lighting were physically installed crooked and/or not flush with the rest of the wall. -Tucson Electric Power (TEP) inspector complained to me that he was one of the worst electricians he had ever worked with. -Lighting done incorrectly based on plan (one example..2 switches on the same bank have the exact same function???) -75% of the outlets and light switches do not function at all or incorrectly -He does not return texts or phone calls. When he does actually text they are ininteligible -He does not tell you when he will be on the job. -He is working multiple other jobs simultaneously and using funds/materials between jobs. So he really has no idea how much he is spending on any 1 job. I know this because I asked to see his receipts. -Shotty work in general. Did not clean worksite EVER. Did not respect house. Unfortunately I've spent the last 2 months dealing with Burke Anthony Leon of Big Bear Electric LLC. He is the owner and basically the entire company except for one worker who he likes to use as a scapegoat for any issues that you find. I hired him at the start of a home renovation project at the beginning of December. Over two and a half months later I still do not have power (Update: After hiring a new electrician I've found that the wiring work he actually did do was done incorrectly less than half of the light switches and outlets actually function and most do not function as intended). Initially Burke seemed great and quoted a price for the entire job (rewire house, upgrade service). It was a pretty reasonable price and he got to work immediately after a ~25% down payment so that he could get supplies. But soon after starting the job he stopped showing up. He might come in for an hour or two here and there but no work was actually getting done. I decided to ask Burke Anthony Leon what was wrong. He informed me that he needed more money because he had spent the initial money on supplies. So I gave him another 25%. He then showed up for a couple of hours for each of the next few days but soon stopped and I was no closer to having power in my house. After he didn't show up for a week and a half and wasn't returning my calls/texts. He comes to the house requesting more money to finish the job. He said he had spent all the money on materials and needed more. So I asked to see his receipts before paying him more money. He gave me all the receipts from his Home Depot account under my job number. And sure enough it appear as if he had spent a lot of money on materials. However on closer inspection in those receipts were materials for other on going jobs he was on and personal items (6ft inflatable Santa, various Xmas lights, google Home.....among many others). Being an engineer and a person who likes to trust until proven wrong I let this slide and calculated what I actually thought he had spent in the job and showed him that he still had plenty of cash left. He disagreed but started working a little bit here and there. A week later he asked for another 25% saying he needed to get the permit and some metal tubing. I told him I'd give him 10% more. Long story short a month later the permit hadn't been filed for and no minimal work had been done. I also had no power and only loose wires, holes in the walls (that I had to patch), holes in my ceiling. By this point after many promises I had paid him 85% of the bill and the job was only half done and all I really had was a bunch of wires hanging outside my house. And still he was saying he wouldn't finish unless I gave him more money. That's when I started looking into his qualifications. His license was revoked in 2018 despite him telling me he was licensed. It was only after I asked him about his license that he started to do a little bit of work to keep me from reporting him. That only lasted a few days tho. In the end I hired a qualified and licensed electrician.
