Dale is amazing!! He is very knowledgeable and knows so much about the local history. We had so much fun at the Vail Ranch HQ ghost tour! Dale showed us around the property and told stories of times past. He showed us pictures and played audio of paranormal activities that he personally captured in specific areas, which was really fun!! At the end, we got to sit down and use EMF detectors and try to contact spirits! We did get some activity! Dale took pictures of us all throughout the tour, which were emailed to us a few days later. It's was a really fun experience and we're looking forward to going again in Old Town next time. I highly recommend this tour.

Dale was the best tour guide! He knew so many historical facts about the area and the time in the Palomar Hotel was my favorite. Our EMF ghost detecting devices picked up a few things. It was so much fun! I would highly recommend this tour!

We had a group of 70 year old women that took a tour of the Vail Headquarters with Dale. Dale knows his Temecula history and he made it very interesting for all of us.. We had such a great time. Dale had let us know in advance that it was going to be very cold and to dress warmly and boy was he right! We heard about all the paranormal experiences that have happened at Vail Headquarters and we used the hand held devices to see if the ghosts could communicate with us. it was a great tour, a great experience and you will love Dale!

    Marshall Dale

Marshall Dale was a great ambassador of Old Town Temecula, explaining relevant historical events as well as paranormal phenomenon captured over his years of personal experience and dedication to investigating the unexplainable. He brought his own video, picture and audio recordings and lets his guests make their own interpretations of the findings. We were very fortunate to have a small group on our tour and Dale took his time elaborating when we had questions. You can tell he is very passionate about Old Town and telling the stories to new people. I would gladly recommend Dale to my friends and family. We are looking forward to taking his Vail Headquarters Tour! Thanks again Dale!

Dale is phenomenal. My family and I took his tour this past week in old town Temecula and had the best experiences. Dale is so knowledgeable and very kind. If you ever find yourself in Temecula you need to find a night to visit with Dale and the sweet spirits of old town (:

The grounds and overall atmosphere are definitely one of its strongest qualities. That said, when it comes to the service and the wine itself, there are definitely better options in Temecula. The pours were surprisingly small -- well under what you would expect -- and the service felt impersonal. Unfortunately, the experience lacked the warmth and attentiveness that make a wine tasting feel enjoyable and memorable. As for the wine, we found it not very palatable, especially in comparison to Bolero next door, which offered a much more enjoyable overall experience. While Callaway has the advantage of a gorgeous view, the quality of the wine and the hospitality simply did not measure up for us. Overall, it's a lovely place to visit for the scenery, but if your priority is excellent wine and welcoming service, there are stronger choices nearby.

Highly recommend taking a tour with Sidecar tours!!…read more My husband had been looking at this activity for a long time. He had found it through Groupon. Riding a sidecar in the middle of Temecula while being dropped off at several wineries without having to drive sounded like a unique and fun activity. By the time he was able to purchase it, only the cocktail tour was available. While we usually prefer cocktails, we found out after the fact that those start at 4:00pm and only Mon-Thurs. It didn't sound too fun to drive an hour away on a weekday in traffic to begin and come home late, but we wanted to check it out. A few days before our event was going to take place, the business called me to inform me that they are no longer doing cocktail tours at this time and were trying to get it off Groupon until the businesses working with them were more cooperative with pricing. While I was not thrilled about the last minute change, I was relieved because a big storm was coming the next day (never fails) and it would have been canceled anyway. I also didn't know until after that you mainly ride through Old Town and would not get nearly the amount of sidecar riding. However, they offered to change it to the wine tour and were able to squeeze us in three days later on the weekend so it worked out perfectly. Weather was on our side this time. It was bright and sunny. Bryan, our tour guide and driver texted me the morning of and gave us instructions on where to meet, and the waiver to sign, and that he would also be our professional photographer this day. It turns out Bryan was juggling three parties that day and was constantly on the go moving each party to the next stop. He introduced himself and explained what we would be doing and which wineries we would be visiting. He took a few pictures in the beginning and his phone may as well have been a professional camera! We first started with a fun ride throughout parts of Temecula and through a vineyard (literally!) as well. We got on one main road and went very fast! He gave us a lot of facts about Temecula and the vineyards as we rode. Our first stop was at Chapin winery where we were provided with six tastings of our choosing. I loved every selection! The pizza they made there smelled amazing, but we were full from breakfast (another time for sure!) Bryan explained that if we did want to eat pizza, please order it right away so it had time to cook and be eaten before he came back. He left us to be to relax and enjoy our wine while he took the previous group he had dropped off to the second winery. He texted me when he was on his way back to us and so we could get ready and whatnot. Once he arrived, we hopped back into the sidecar and got an even longer tour of the city and areas and had a longer time to enjoy the next sidecar ride. We stopped by some of the nearby animals such as llamas and he told us facts about the trees in their yard and about them, followed by some facts of the mountains and nearby homes and stopped for those views. Next we were brought to Bella Vista winery and were provided a full bottle of wine! We sat and relaxed and had some more wine while enjoying the views. The party before us was brought back to the starting point. Bryan took some more pictures and we brought the remaining wine back with us. It ended up being a perfect, sunny, great weather day and the business was great the whole time. Bryan was an amazing tour guide and photographer and we highly recommend him. It made the shortlist for stops, and after we left another winery for weird vibes, we ended up coming to Miramonte. We were immediately impressed - the parking was full and we got lucky a little further away, and there was a guy in a golf cart going around giving people rides to/from their cars. He picked us up, let us know cart service ended at 9pm and reassured an incoming car that he had spotted them and that he would come around to give them a ride. Fantastic service there! We had not made a reservation and had to put our names on the waitlist, but were able to get some wines and sit in open seating. The main criticism I have here is that my friend paid for 2 wines and then we swapped - I was offered the opportunity to tip, but my friend was not - and the server added tip on himself! Our bills should have been the same (since we ordered the same thing both times) but my friend's was higher. Other than that - we enjoyed the rest of our visit. We got through 2 rounds of wine before our table was ready and we were seated and had quick service. There was a live band and a lively atmosphere - a lot of people went up to dance in the open area in front of the band. We shared a charcuterie board and a cilantro-poblano Caesar - all delicious. I would say that overall, a solid choice for food and drink, but maybe make sure you can tip for yourself at the wine tasting area.

But somehow we never knew there was a mining history there and that it was very prolific in the 1870s. The tour is worth the cost, and starts with a history of the equipment and the area as well as the information about how the mining equipment and the mine were preserved. There is a demonstration of how to pan for gold, and there is a lot of old equipment as well as a shop with relics, books and western style homestead-ish goods. A nice variety of options. The walk through the mine would have been better with a smaller group where we wouldn't feel rushed. It was cool that down in the mine there is still equipment, and you can view down into the hole where the miners would be lowered to work for the day. The mine is very dark - but also well lit and as your eyes adjust there is no problem watching where you walk and seeing the historic equipment down in the mine. The tour is actually 2 shafts that connect, as you finish one mine area then the tour guide takes you into the other mine shaft and at the end of the tour you exit on the other side of the mountain- pretty cool. You must be mobile, not claustrophobic, this is a child friendly tour but please impress to your kids that listening is key, some portions of the tour it may be more difficult to hear the guide. At one point they lights are turned off so that the guide can demonstrate the use of a candle to iluminate the way, it's a short period but might be scary to young visitors if not reassured. I recommend this tour for tourists, locals, adults and kids - great to learn the history of Julian and the mines that were there during the gold rush. I believe they said - more than 200!
