We had a great meal at this cute little burger shop out in Katy. We had went at an off hour so there were not many customers at the time so we got to chat with Rocio. It sounded like she and her mom own the restaurant. It has been open for 3 years. The menu is quite impressive and we can't wait to come by and try more thing's. I was pleasantly surprised with this Katy find. Handmade patties....nothing better.

Honest reviews as ALWAYS ! very nice inside , love the old school R&B , the vibe and the graffiti! I'm from Chi town so I felt at home The lady at the front was so sweet and very helpful . She was very attentive . The district burger was 9/10 !! Very juicy and big . The quesadilla was good as well fries were cool ! My ONLY complaint is prices. If you're gonna be old school keep prices affordable. Paying 44 dollars for 3 burger no fries , a kids meal and a shake that was good but it was the best milkshake for 5.99 . Kids don't care so he ate it.. But overall go visit its worth it just wish companies understand that fries should be included with all burgers . Paying $20 for burger and a fries is wild . It was empty in a Friday so may if they do special or maybe adjust prices more will be able to afford the Goodness I don't have a lot of $$ so this was a unexpected amount of money for food with no fries

Old school diner vibes for sure. Very clean. Quick and awesome service. Burgers were GREAT!! Juicy, seasoned well. Buns toasted perfectly. All around great burgers. Will be coming back.

The first time I reviewed this restaurant, I was focused on pupusa but subsequently have been back for the hamburgers, which are absolutely wonderful. As well the service is incredibly efficient, friendly quick pleasant informative in summary. It's a wonderful dining experience. It looks a bit akin to a cafeteria style restaurant in terms of ambience, but that really does not detract from how good the food is. Frankly, the hamburgers are absolutely incredible and I would encourage everyone who is reading this to at least give them a try. I've had several different kinds of hamburgers with all sorts of accoutrements, and every one of them has been just wonderful. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant

This place is really unique; I haven't had quite an experience like this. I don't have a photo of the interior; however, there is a stark disconnect between the seating in the restaurant and the "bar" area. I am sure there is a story behind how all this happened, and I can tell the restaurant is doing their best, but it all results in an identity crisis. Are you a restaurant that serves food in plastic trays lined with paper, or are you a restaurant with wagyu beef and truffle burgers? I'm sure there's a way to meld the two, but this place doesn't quite pull it off. Very weird ambience. That being said, I don't care much about the ambience, or the service - which was awesome. There was one guy working the whole floor and he was extremely friendly and helpful. Quick, too. The food mirrors the ambience - great and well executed in some areas, fast food drivel in others. Let's start with the burgers - I got the mushroom Swiss, and my love got a double. We were asked how we wanted our patties cooked. Didn't matter, it all came out well done. DESPITE THAT, the burgers were well seasoned, juicy, hot, and the buns are toasted and taste homemade. These burgers WILL give you pause at the first bite. Nicely done. The fries are clearly bought in, and are nothing special. I got mine with brisket on top and while it was a nice addition, wasn't very good brisket or very bad brisket, just okay. The bbq sauce seems bought in and generic also, but it was all very hot and fresh, which I appreciate. I got one al pastor taco. The most flavorful aspect of it was the corn tortilla - the meat was dry, unfortunately, and I wouldn't order it again. I am so glad this place resonates with so many people, but $60 for two people for this - I find the tuition is quite high for what you get at Old School Burger.

Kaylee G.

Our waitress was really great. Friendly and attentive. The inside was very clean and nice. I got a burger with blue cheese and other stuff on it (forgot the name) it was okay. The meat didn't really have any flavor tasted a little burnt. The burger over all lacked flavor. The buns where good though, toasted but soft 6/10 Torta was good. Didn't fall apart and had good flavor. Could have used a little more beans 9/10 French fries 10/10 Pupusa: bean, cheese 10/10

The service was awesome. The food is hot and fresh. We especially like the barbecue burger.

Had a chance to visit this restaurant again last night. Very satisfied with the personal attention to detail. Burgers always come out made to order with minimal wait time. Not every restaurant can serve you your burger and fries with the consistent cook on both. Hot and fresh, go out and support this family owned business. I promise you you will love it. We popped in for a quick bite, loved it. Food proportions was very generous. Burger was massive and filling.

Amazing!! Always hands down amazing! Delicious food no doubt, we love the delicious flavor, serving size, service and the consistency of their product. Never disappoints!! On our recent visit we had pupusas, brisket fries, fire and cheese burger and the mushroom and Swiss cheese burger!!! Sooo good!! Music was on point we had so much fun listening to 60,70,80s greatest hits. Oh and to top it off, we had a savory churro shake and vanilla shake!!! Phenomenal! This is a great burger place!! We highly recommend this place!!

We felt like getting a good burger and heard great things about this new Katy gem on Facebook. The parking was plentiful. When we walked in we were greeted and the customer service was on point. I believe I set my expectations too high because I was let down. We had the burger and the chicken sandwich both which tasted as though I could have made them from home. They were very plain and nothing gave them the extra umph to compare them to other good burger spots. I will say the brisket fries were really good! read more

My wife took a bite of her take-home burger, looked at it, raised her eyebrows and said, "DAMN! This is a really good burger!" My lunch buddy exclaimed, "This is better than the double-meat Whataburger which has been #1 on my list for 30 years!" I loved mine with blue cheese and carmalized onions. Don't know what these folks do, but it is magic-on-a-bun! Their onion rings are superb too! My only criticism is they keep their ketchup in the cooler. I HATE cold condiments, but that's on me! BEST wishes and 5 stars go to Old School Burger! read more

Just like the name says: "back to the basics" Truly an old school hamburger. They have the key factors that make for a great burger: seasoned patty, seared nicely, quality bun and fresh vegetables. That's it! Amazing how many other burger places can't figure out this simple formula. Owner is extremely friendly, service was fantastic, prices are more than fair and I will most definitely be back. Only "gripe" is most of the walls are rather bare but it is a minor detail that won't keep me from frequenting this hidden gem on Mason Road. Cheers! read more

Homemade meals made just right for the price you pay! Our meals were served by the lovely lady who is the owner of the restaurant & her service was greatly appreciated. We ordered a brisket and chicken sandwich. The chicken was lightly battered and it comes with jalapeño honey sauce, so it turned out good! Parmesan fries with rosemary butter were delicious. The brisket was seasoned so well and was served with just the perfect amount! I would love to see this place grow because it has a lot of potential. P.s I appreciate the throwback music they were playing. We will be back again! read more

Maybe caught them on a bad day right after the freeze but it was good not great. Both the tots and the meat in the tacos were overly charred. Can't remember having meat that crisp in a taco before, and I've had many. Meat in the burger was average quality, though everything was very well put together. Maybe will give them another try eventually. read more

Like many restaurants around Houston and the 'burbs, this is restaurant is in an unassuming spot. The interior is normal, nothing special to write about. The meal was off to a rocky start when I was served the absolute worst horchata ever. The workers assured me it was good horchata: it was not. I've been drinking horchata every summer for decades and love it! Anyways, just order the tea. Service is prompt and the co-owner definitely cares about the customers. As for the food, the burger was cooked nicely! It didn't taste like the best quality meat, but it was cooked to perfection, so that's always a good surprise. The sweet potato fries were good. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I wouldn't drive out of my way to come here, but if I'm in the area I'd stop by again read more

The staff was very nice and super friendly. The inside of this place wasn't anything fancy, but that didn't deter me from giving it a try. I ordered the Swiss Mushroom burger medium and after a half an hour I was unpleasantly surprised to find that it was over cooked. This was pretty upsetting because I was really wanted a good burger. The price also didn't match the quality and the presentation wasn't any better than something you'd find at home. All in all, I probably won't be visiting this establishment again unless there is some serious changes. For their sake, I pray that those changes come quickly. read more

I'm not really sure if this place deserves 3 stars but it was overall average so that's what it's getting. The one lady working there was nice...and that about wraps up the positives. The food was boring. We ordered a couple burgers (I can't remember the name of either of them - one was a plain burger and the other was on a special menu), (L) parmesan fries, and (S) onion rings and water. Our total was $50!! That is absolutely crazy for what we got. Both the burgers were not seasoned and overcooked. Like someone else said, their meat has a pate feel to it and something seems weird about it, but I don't know what. We both ordered medium and it was definitely medium-well/well-done. The ambiance was drab and had no real theme or continuity. Bathrooms were dingy. We won't return. Too many great burger places for a sub-par one. I don't know why so many people rave about this place. read more

Went to Old School Burger yesterday, I ordered the Bunrise Burger, it was actually juicy and very delicious. Now, let me tell you about their fries. I'm a huge fan of fries that aren't too thin or too thick. Example: I absolutely hate the fries from Freddy's and love the fries from Red Robbin (even though they're steak fries). The fries at Old School Burger (in my opinion) are perfect. The only thing that was less than pleasant (which I'm hoping will change) is when I ordered a Coke with my meal I received a big glass of ice and 1 can of soda ($1.75 each). No problem, I ordered a glass of ice water as well. Service was great! You can really tell they are a new business and very eager to please the customers... not to mention you could eat off the bathroom floor (it was that clean). Prices were VERY REASONABLE.... next time we go we're going to try their Pupusas. On the flip side of their menu they have breakfast options and other things like Tortas, Tacos, Tostados... DEFINITELY GIVE THEM A TRY!! read more

As soon as we sat down, we were catered to and asked what drinks we would like. A few members of our party arrived later, yet they still received the same warm, welcoming service. The food came out in less than 7 minutes and it was genuinely one of the best burgers I have ever had. The bun was so soft and the meat and egg were perfectly cooked to what I had requested. Additionally, the sweet jalapeños on this burger tasted magnificent. The fries were also extremely tasty. Definitely see myself returning before the end of July and I totally recommend for anyone who loves great food!! read more

Before I went to this restaurant, I called ahead to see if they were actually gluten-free or just in my feed. They said that their fries are in a dedicated frier, and they have gf buns. So, I went to check them out. The restaurant is not close to me, but I was in the mood for an adventure. Omg. I had a bacon avocado hamburger in one of the best gf buns I've ever tasted. Although I ordered a medium cook on my burger, it came back well done. Yet, it was moist and juicy and filled with messy goodness. They do have a lot of napkins too, and you'll need those. It was worth the wait. Fries were hot and fresh. The front of house was run by two women, so when they are busy, there is a bit of a wait. BUT THE WAIT IS WORTH IT!!!! Refills on drinks. And have have Dr Pepper too. The rest of the restaurant is cute just like you'd expect in a family run business. I'm going to have dreams about this burger for a long time. I'll be back. read more

Ordered the Bun Rise burger, and Bacon Egg taco on flower. Let's just say if I could give it 10 stars I would. One of the best, moist, flavorful, incredibly burger. The over easy egg was perfect, the burger was juicy, all the toppings didn't overwhelm the burger, it was just a pleasant addition. The breakfast taco was good, not out of this world, but for a breakfast taco it was a solid eat. You could definitely eat quite a few. I do wish they had a breakfast burrito. I think they'd kill it for sure. My wife had the pork pupusa, it was really good, the outside of it was just melt in your mouth and crispy at the same time. My new favorite place to eat. Staff is super friendly, she took our order and before we knew it we had an incredible meal. Tables were clean, food had a good presentation. I am coming back way more often. read more

While visiting family in Houston we were excited to come across a "real" Mexican (as opposed to Tex-Mex...iykyk) taco shop. As soon as you walk in and see the Tijuana and Baja Mexico signs and decor you know you're in the right place. There's an open kitchen, allowing you to watch your carne being grilled on the open-flame grill. That charged meat smell is heavenly! Their guac is chunky and simple (nothing too fancy), hot sauces are tasty (and they have a kick!), tortillas are thin but strong -- holding the goods in just right. It's also nice that they have complimentary tasty, crispy pork rinds -- as opposed to the standard chips & salsa. Portions are ample! They definitely don't skimp -- tons of meat and guac in their tacos and huge, meaty burritos! Prices are fair, especially for what you get! Their dining room is a tad small, but it's very clean and the a/c is good...there's also a nice patio outside. Service was swift and friendly. Food was good. A/C was poppin'. Parking was plentiful. All in all I have to admit that Tacos Frontera comes as close to good San Diego Mexican food as you can get...they would definitely be able to hold their own in San Diego!

Sure, here's the revised review with a mention of the top-notch service and attention to detail: --- **Old School Burger on Mason Review** I recently visited Old School Burger on Mason, and I have to say, it's a fantastic spot that brings back the charm of an old-school diner with modern comforts. The atmosphere is cozy and nostalgic, perfectly capturing the essence of simpler times with its classic decor and welcoming vibe. **Drinks:** One of the highlights was the frosted glass for my beer--such a small touch, but it made a huge difference. It's these thoughtful details that elevate the dining experience. They also offer a great happy hour from 3-5 PM, making it an ideal spot for an after-work drink or a casual catch-up with friends. **Appetizers:** I had the crab cakes, which were on special, and they were simply amazing. Creamy and bursting with flavor, they set the bar high for the rest of the meal. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, they were an appetizer that could easily double as a satisfying entrée. **Main Course:** For the main course, I opted for the blue cheese cheeseburger, paired with parmesan fries. The burger was a juicy, flavorful delight, with the blue cheese adding a rich, tangy kick that complemented the perfectly cooked beef patty. The bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together without getting soggy. The parmesan fries were equally impressive--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and generously sprinkled with parmesan cheese. They were the perfect side to the indulgent burger, making for a satisfying and well-rounded meal. **Service:** The service at Old School Burger was top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing a great dining experience. Their attention to detail, from the frosted glasses to the perfectly timed service, really stood out and made the visit memorable. **Overall:** Old School Burger on Mason offers a delightful combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and thoughtful touches that make the dining experience special. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite, a relaxed happy hour, or a full meal, this spot is sure to impress with its dedication to quality, comfort, and exceptional service. Highly recommended! read more
