After working in the radio business for 25 years Gumbo Limbo's proprietor Patricia O'Connell…read moredecided to open a boutique. In 2007 she purchased the previous Gumbo Limbo and kept the home decor items and store name. She opened her store in 2008 and added purses and Alex and Ani jewlery. I was searching for presents for some hard to buy for friends and I made the rounds of the gift shops in historic downtown Stuart. This was the second store I visited. Gumbo Limbo bills themselves as coastal chic. Store sections are grouped by the type of event you are shopping for making it very easy to buy gifts. For example some of the sections they have are wedding, mother's day, and birthday. They also carry tropical decor, art, and jewelry. Brands they offer include Roost, Zodax, Dash & Albert, Napa Home & Garden, Vance Kitira, HomArt and Michel's Design Works. Some items they carry are specific to Stuart if you want to bring home a vacation memento. I didn't end up buying anything this trip but I had fun shopping. Customer service was excellent. I was enthusiastically greeted and then left alone to browse. The items I was drawn to were a higher ticket than I could afford to spend since I had a few people to buy for. If I was looking for just one special gift or money was no object I would definitely come back and select something. This is really beautiful store with many unique items. Right now they are selling tickets to the spring Stuart and Stroll. It is an open house walking stroll through the shops and restaurants in the historic downtown. The businesses offer drinks and snacks and there is also live music.

Sunrise surf shop was always awesome, but they have truly amped it up since I have last visited!…read moreThis is a huge surf shop with everything and anything you could possibly need for the whole family .. all ages, all interests, and nothing but high quality products and original works by the owner, Dom. I actually had decision burn-out, as I went in sleepy, not knowing how they expanded this store greatly since my last visit! I left with some super cute accessories but I am considering going back before I had back up North to buy something else while I am not half-asleep! And maybe a super cute and soft towel even though there's no good beaches up north, but the towels were just that beautiful and buttery soft! There's a really dope Halloween design, amongst other awesome designs, and you can put them on a variety of shirt styles! Awesome music was playing, and staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! Especially the two ladies who were helping me; if every retail employee was modeled after these girls, the world would be a happier place and stores could certainly boost their sales too honestly! Compliments to the staff! Whether it's accessories, clothes, decks, surfboards, trinkets, toys, gifts, or anything in between ... you will find it here at Sunrise Surf Shop! I promise you will find something that makes your heart smile!

They have a plethora of items for men, women and children here including comfy sandals to walk about in. Judy helped me find the most comfy flip flops by "Oofos." My flat feet are loving every minute of them Jerry! Lol. Like walking on clouds! Available in a lower heel but I like feeling tall so I went with the platform ones...a little pricey and $20 more than the flatter ones but worth every penny! They also sell jewelry, hand bags and top brands swimsuits for men, women & children. *Very friendly and helpful staff *Plenty of parking in the lot *They put out several sale racks out front every day. Prices range $10 - $20

My husband and I visited here First thing Sunday morning on January 18, 2026…read more I did not feel very welcome here. We both shopped around, my husband went one way to look at things he was interested in, and I went a different way to explore the store. No one ever greeted or spoke to me. It was my first time in the store and they had lots of nice items. I did have questions about some items I wanted to purchase, but was never acknowledged the entire time. I walked through the store from the dishes, clothing, to the furniture side. One tall dark haired woman walked past me at least 4 times in the store but only spoke to my husband across the store a couple of times. I was very sad when I left the store. He told me so much about this store and I was excited to get there. Not sure what happened here, but I wonder if it was because we are an interracial couple that I was never acknowledged, but my husband was.

This was a good thrift store…read more Everything was neat and organized. The store is decorated well. There's a large section of furniture and housewares plus housewares and bric-a-brac. And some clothing, of course, and accessories. You have to wander around a bit to see everything as it's not grouped all together by categories. Some prices seemed a little high, but it is for a charity. They do offer sale discounts on different days on different items. And Wednesday is the senior day for 25% off. We did observe some local shoppers using a loyalty card as well. This card gives a discount to the users, but I'm not sure of the details. We didn't buy anything here when we visited, but as at all thrift stores the inventory changes often.

Their name comes from the bible verse Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." The Mustard Seed Ministries mission is "to coordinate the energies of the Christian churches of St. Lucie County to meet the spiritual and material needs of the whole person and to make referrals to all available relief agencies in our community to take care of those in need". According to their website their "services include assistance with food insecurities, past due utilities, rent/mortgage payments, furniture, transportation/travel, emergency shelter, prescriptions, medical equipment, clothing, gasoline, medical care vouchers and many case-by-case interventions. As part of our food program, we implement a summer food program for school children who receive free/reduced meals during the school year; operate a Community Bucket Garden and an annual Community Thanksgiving Feast." For more than 3o years the Mustard Seed Ministries has been using a grass roots model to meet the needs of the community holistically. They are supported by hundreds of volunteers and community members who administer 17 programs and services available to individuals and families in St. Lucie County. They also operate a food pantry at their thrift store and provide medical education. Proceeds from this thrift store and the one in Ft. Pierce raise funds for their programs. The thrift store receives donations from businesses and the local community. They sell art, small appliances, clothes, furniture, accessories, and household goods. They sell a varied selection of items and prices are inexpensive. Strangest item found here this trip, a very serious portrait of Fred J Ball. Who was Fred and how did he end up here? I have so many questions but he is keeping watch on the store. So many cool treasures here. You can donate and shop in confidence knowing you are supporting one of the worthiest charities in St. Lucie County.
