Excellent food and service. Very fresh tasting food, and the margarita was well crafted.

Ridiculous up charge of cheese dip. Cost of a meal.

$12 cheese bowl. Says 4.50 on the menu. Waitress asked if we wanted the large bowl. Apparently that is 3x more. Food okay. Atmosphere okay. Service okay. Not interested in ever going back

4 to 5 stars for the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the service. 4 stars overall…read morebecause...FCB is overpriced. I don't usually factor cost into my ratings. After all, the prices are marked on the menu and nobody is forcing me to eat there...but, when it's in my face... 25 bucks for 2 links of Andoulli with a, fairly large, "shot glass" of coleslaw and another, smaller, shot glass of pickled onions, and, a tablespoon of brown mustard. I saw the price but I still ordered it. After dinner my wife was laughing her ass off: "That anduoilli could have been from Kroger, you know?" I'm sure she was right. If the sausage was homemade, I'll issue a retraction...and eat my hat. That said it tasted great. For 15 bucks, it would have been a good deal. 90 bucks for a dozen oysters and a few prawns, AND 5 tasty scallops. We saw the prices but still ordered it. The oysters and sauces were excellent, so were the scallops. But that ain't "market price." The beignets for dessert were more than ok. Almost, but not quite there. The atmosphere of the establishment, including the patio, is top notch. I like the look and the feel. The service was also great. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and took great care of us. Drinks: I've been drinking a lot less as of late (I like being cut more than I like being buzzed), but last night, I did have an excellent cocktail, or two. In this category, FCB gives you what you pay for! Overall, Farnsworth Cocktail Bar is an excellent establishment. Them prices tho...

Limited number of tables but spacious - you aren't sit on top of the other tables. I always enjoy sitting at the bar. Service is always friendly and great. My husband enjoyed a couple different cocktail from the menu and I always find a good wine! I've only come in for apps & drinks so far. Due to the size, I'd recommend a reservation. We have been turned away when trying to pop in due to no availability. So dinner must be great!

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.

Really, really good food! The Perch was some of the best I've ever had. Mushrooms were great too…read more The only knock I have is the waffle fries were like warm. I LOVE waffle fries, but they have to be hot. It was also nice to see they had a selection of beers. Food came out fast. I would not hesitate to return.

Upon first glance the outside doesn't really give you that vibe, but don't be fooled. The moment you walk through the doors, the crisp, modern atmosphere immediately sets the tone for an exceptional evening. We were seated promptly and welcomed by our server Joleen, who provided attentive and friendly service throughout the meal. Our group ordered wine and some appetizers. We chose the Cesar salad, french onion soup, tuna tower, scallops, and shrimp cocktail. The presentation alone was enough to impress. Everything was absolutely divine. The scallops were some of the best I've ever eaten. Seasoned and cooked to perfection, the smoked bacon jam was an ideal pairing. As impressed as we were with the appetizers, the entrees somehow managed to top them. Our table ordered the filet mignon, steak frites, and the smash burger. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and while I don't typically order steak with a sauce the blackberry demi glaze added just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the meat. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals stating that the smash burger was the best burger they had ever had. We finished dinner with a coffee and a crème brûlée. If you are looking for a phenomenal dining experience in Port Clinton, this is it. They really checked all the boxes.

We went again on Saturday. WOW!…read more Started with a Martini for my dining partner and iced tea for me. Both were great. The waiter (Josh, a five-star waiter if ever there was one) really knows how to take care of his customers. He really knows the menu, can explain the dishes along with their components and what makes them unique and paces each course perfectly. He even asked if we were BOTH done before any dishes were removed from the table. Nothing looks worse than one person still eating while the rest of the table has no plates in front of them. We started with the roasted carrot salad. The carrots were perfectly roasted and chilled with and amazing tahini "paste" and radicchio, perfectly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. OUTSTANDING!!! Seriously, this could have been my entire meal! The tahini paste is great, and I made it once while making a tahini dressing for roasted Brussels sprouts. Tahini naturally gets thick (paste like) when liquid is added. To make the paste, just stop adding liquid to it and stop mixing until it gets smooth again. Seriously, delicious. We both ordered the chicken schnitzel for our entrees. It comes with a really nice side salad consisting of mixed greens, dressed again with a very mild vinaigrette. My only quibble (and it's a really small one) is I would have liked the schnitzel to be a bit thinner. That said, it was perfectly cooked, not at all dry and the thickness is up to the creator of the dish. I don't think there's a "standard" for this (ha, ha - get it!). Great breading and very tasty. The dessert... Again, had to go with the sticky toffee pudding! If this is on the menu, there's no way I'm not going to order it. GOD, it's just a perfect ending to a great meal, well, that along with a pot of French Press coffee. All in all, the meal came to $108.00 excluding the tip. Expensive, but WORTH EVERY PENNY! I spent that much a few weeks ago (maybe more) on a really awful meal/experience at a different place. You'll have to read my old reviews to figure that one out! Anyway, this place treats their employees like they actually appreciate them. They took them on a cruise! Of all the restaurants I used to work at, the best thing I ever received was a shift meal or maybe a cold beer because I was still at the place cooking apps at 1:00 in the morning and the manager wanted to go home but felt bad because I couldn't leave. Thanks for the glass of Miller Lite draft, Mr. Chi-Chi's manager guy! Everyone in the place, from the servers to the hostesses, to the bus folks and the floor manager had smiles and a sense of graciousness and appreciation to each and every customer. Try to find that at any other restaurant in Toledo. The food is top notch, made with very unique recipes and techniques you're not going to find anywhere else. The dining room and restrooms (at least the men's) are clean. I never had to ask for a refill on my iced tea or water. New silverware was brought before each course was served. The old plates were removed from the table after the staff asked if it was OK to do so. Proper training in procedure and etiquette is obvious. Again, just a great meal in every way - 10 out of 10! Can't wait to go back.

We loved the Standard after visit #1. Then, somehow, a year and a half passed before we returned…read more The reason was location, and the reason was atmosphere, but mostly it was atmosphere. After visit #2, I'm not sure there will be a visit #3 anytime soon. The consensus among friends -- confirmed now by our own table -- is that everything is too heavy. The first few bites bring the oohs and the ahhs. By halfway through the plate, the ughs and the oofs begin. The menu reads as thoughtful and dialed in. Our table of four ordered very different entrees -- seafood, steak, pasta, salad -- and somehow every plate arrived at the same destination: rich, savory, dense. No acid. No brightness. And strangely, blue cheese and garlic had crept into every single bite, as if the kitchen could not bear to let a dish leave without them. A meal that should have pleased everyone left most of us with a mild remorse. I felt surprisingly ill for hours afterward -- not because anything was unsafe, not because it wasn't delicious, but because it was simply too much. Too rich. Too savory. The body, it turns out, asks for contrast, and we had not been given any. The service, on the other hand, is STILL outrageously good. Without question some of the best in the region -- better than nearly every higher-end room in town. But the atmosphere is stuffy, the food is one-note, and high quality is not the same thing as good execution. My wife's "medium plus" steak arrived extremely rare. My salmon was undercooked. At this price, that is inexcusable. Still -- the service. The service is something to behold.
