I got my first tattoo from Natasha Tsozik in December and had a great experience. I draw and make art, so I was a little nervous about collaborating on a design with someone that would be on my body, you know, forever! But she put me right at ease. We worked out the basics of the design over email, and she was really welcoming and encouraging about the references I sent, asking for more specifics. Our consultation via Zoom helped more, and then we worked out last-minute design draft stuff in the few days leading up to the tattoo. I thought it might be stressful, but it was just fun. The day of went well too. Natasha sent really clear instructions beforehand, and I had a good idea of what to expect. I knew that if I had another idea that day, she would've altered the design in the shop without it being a big deal. I also liked walking into her space and confirming that I had the right idea about her aesthetic and how it matched what I was seeking. She also has a light hand - someone in the shop told me I was lucky to have Natasha doing a piece on my ribs, a notoriously painful spot, but she was super gentle about it and checked in regularly. I had such an amazing experience at Old Crow. I have been there for three tattoos so far and they have all been fantastic. Natasha Tsozik is such a cool artist and I got two of her ocean/underwater flash pieces. They both came out so detailed and the shading is unreal. Natasha was also nice enough to lighten up the shading a little so that it went a little better with the idea I had in mind. Both pieces mesh really well together and I'm hoping down the road to go back and add even more. Being that Covid is still going crazy I felt super safe with all of the protocols they have in place to ensure everyone's health. Even though I've moved, I hope to go back to Old Crow eventually to get more tattoos! I also got a tattoo from Teasha Faye and I had such a blast talking back and forth about food places around the Bay Area. I got am umbreon and all of the recommendations about the design from Teasha were spot on for the idea I had about the piece. I got a flash tattoo done here by Caitlin. I couldn't have been happier with the process, and with the end product. Caitlin is by far the nicest, chillest artist I've ever had, and this was on a busy flash day. The price was reasonable for the size and intricacy. I was nervous going to a new tattoo shop. However, Natasha made me feel comfortable right from the start. We talked about the concept of the tattoo via Zoom and she explained how she would accommodate any ideas I had and was transparent about the costs and when she would have the sketches ready. We set a procedure date one month after that first meeting, and emailed back and forth up until the day before the appointment. When I went to the shop in person, it was clear that the artists wanted to be careful about COVID and its variants. There were reminders everywhere of using sanitizer and keeping masks on. I had disclosed in my release form that I had pain anxiety, and Natasha did everything in her power to settle my nerves: she used a quiet machine and let me listen to my music while she worked. Now about the tattoo: I absolutely love it!! There were some things in her initial sketches that I didn't like, but Natasha worked with me to get it perfect. Hannah Wolf, who owns the shop, is an incredible tattoo artist. I recently completed a 3/4 sleeve with her and it is truly a work of art. The shading/line work of the animals is o u t s t a n d i n g. I am proud to show it off and have this amazing artwork on my body forever. All the shop staff are friendly and kind. After paying a $400 deposit, my tattoo appointment had to be rescheduled several times due to COVID-19 shutdowns. The last time I tried to reschedule the date, Hannah told me she was so busy she couldn't book me until sometime in 2022, my original appointment was for April of 2020. She then offered to return my deposit, minus fees. I was surprised, but given the delay, I agreed to do that. Hannah, then, despite suggesting this, refused to refund my money saying all deposits were non-refundable. I then tried to once again reschedule my appointment but Hannah refused to respond or give me any date options despite multiple requests on my end. Wow -- not even sure where to start! I came to see Hannah as my 3rd consult for a sleeve (1st real piece -- other than a random turtle I have on my ankle) I was getting ready to start. From the initial consult, I knew Hannah was my girl. The previous artists that I'd met with had me in and out in less than ten minutes, and while they were both talented people -- I felt rushed and they didn't seem all too interested in understand what I was going for. Hannah had blocked out an entire hour for us to talk about my piece and given that this was my first real ink (and was going to be visible since we started on my forearm) -- I felt very much at ease with someone really wanting to take the time to grasp the vision, detail, and type of tattoo I was going for. Hannah sent me away with some homework and we booked my first (all day) session just a few weeks out. I arrived on a Tuesday and was definitely a little anxious/nervous -- but Hannah quickly had me at ease once she got started. Simply put -- Hannah is a badass human being and bleeds dedication and passion to the art of tattoo. I cannot respect her enough for her grind and drive to be the best at what she does, and her work speaks for itself. Six hours of a needle jamming into my skin thousands of times per minute later and my first session was done. The time flew by and Hannah was great at giving me breaks when I needed a few minutes. Two weeks later I was back for my second session and we finished up in a little over 4 hours. I thought her work was amazing after my first session, but once we added the map, leaves, and a few more details to the piece -- I was flat out blown away by how things came together. I'm not even near fully healed yet and cannot stop getting complements and questions about my tattoo and who was behind the work. I feel so lucky and grateful to have found such a badass artist -- and without a doubt Hannah will 100% be doing the rest of my work. I'm not a fan of traditional tattoo (though I appreciate it) and really love the black and grey, highly detailed, and realistic look -- which Hannah absolutely nails. Also, five stars for Old Crow as the shop is really put together well. The gallery in front is awesome featuring all different types of art, and everyone I interacted with from my initial booking, consult, and actual sessions were friendly and professional as could be. The appointment was today so I got there and was super excited to get a piece that I've been thinking a long time about! Alan gets in and basically tells me that he wasn't really vibing with my idea and asked if I had any other backups instead... I appreciate and respect his honesty in telling me this because I think it's super important that an artist feel inspired by their commission requests. It's just like bro...You definitely could have called me at any point within the past month BEFORE I took off work for the day and came all the way to Oakland to have the pleasure of not getting tattooed (sarcasm). I've been working on an upper arm piece for some years now and it can be difficult to find an artist who is willing to revise/expand on an existing piece that isn't entirely their own work. Natasha was open to it and even embraced it as a fun challenge. During our initial consultation she listened attentively to what I wanted, asked questions, and then came up with some beautiful sketches that perfectly matched the aesthetic I was going for. The day of the session everything she did was super intentional, nothing felt rushed or unexpected. The vibe was calm, respectful, and communicative the whole way through. A few years ago, I decided to get my first tattoo. I scheduled a consultation with Polina Cohen within a very short period of time. I had a simple idea for a piece on my shoulder.
