    Undercooked Chicago 7
    Owen B.

If you want to eat undercooked pizza, come to Old Chicago! Had to send it back to the oven for it to be cooked further and when it came back bottom was still a doughy mush. Service was decent but not decent enough to bring this review out of the gutter. The previous reviews about the same undercooked issue show managements lack of care about their food and restaurant. Avoid completely.

Great pricing and good selection of food and drinks. I see this as a good place for a sports day downtown. It did take a little bit to be seated in a mostly empty place the day I went but it wasn't a long wait and I know staffing has affected people everywhere. The hand tossed pizza was delicious. Sauce was just right and the wings are good. Enjoyed my visit.

We had a new guy. He was nice. We went as a work group. Many pizzas were ordered. We had salad and f drinks also. I had a few slices of the farmer, daughter pizza and two Long Island ICs. The Long Island seeds were not made very strong, they were what was expected. I've had some coworkers at my table that had margaritas, they forgot the soul in the first one and two were strawberry margaritas. I heard that those were made with a nice kick. The pizza was OK, I wish the sun-dried tomatoes weren't burned to unrecognition. I didn't know that those were sun-dried tomatoes until I asked and had a confirmation that the Pizza I was trying to grab was farmer's daughter pizza which consists of arugula, sun-dried tomatoes, and cheese.

First & foremost, great menu with a reasonable amount of options. I'll be honest I did not have a Pizza but what I did have was some GREAT wings and a surprisingly great batch of the Nachos which when I think of a Pizza joint I wouldn't think the nachos would be phenomenal but I was wrong. Huge shoutout to the bartender Brooke who was customer service forward, timely with checking in to see if I need another beer, or anymore food. No complaints with the employees here at all. The craft beer selection on tap & in bottles/cans was impressive! Highly recommend. Only complaint is the bathrooms need some repair work & love. Also I'd highly recommend re-sealing that bar top. The texture makes you think you're stuck to a piece of duct tape when you pickup your elbows off the bar. Overall 4 out of 5 stars & will recommend Old Chicago!

I've been here a few times but never reviewed it. I've always been pleased with the food. This was surprisingly the first time I ordered the pizza which was very good. Thin crust though. I've had Chicago style in Chicago and I don't care for all that dough.

Old Chicago was alright, I wouldn't say that there was anything wrong with it, but nothing that really stood out as exceptional either. I got the mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders to eat (don't judge me I had pizza the night before,) and a margarita to drink. The mozzarella sticks were not very good, and the tenders and fries were pretty average. The margarita wasn't great either. In addition, the restaurant was pretty dark, and most of the TVs were broken and malfunctioning. All-in-all, I may or may not stop by again, but I would definitely classify it as a "mediocre" pizza restaurant.

I visited here on Labor Day. I took my family out for something special while we were trying to make the most of my unexpected day off. I cannot say enough good about how amazing their specialty pizzas are here!! The Farmer's Daughter on a gluten free crust was amazing!! My wife loved her pizza also! The waiter said she picked their best seller, but I can't remember what it was since I'm writing this review 2 days later (shame on me). But that's the impact this place had. I was so impressed with our food, the atmosphere (3rd time here, first time eating outside), and our WAITER- Scott- was epic. He took such great care of my family! It has been an extremely long time since we received service that extraordinary. He knew all about the menu, answered our questions flawlessly, was VERY attentive to our table, and the beverages never ran low. On top of that he interacted with my kids, made them laugh, and even surprised our youngest for his birthday. We WILL be back. We love this place. And I HIGHLY suggest you check it out if you haven't. They have delicious gluten free options and a ton of great menu items overall. The pictures I included were of all the smiles from us having such a great time!

SICILIAN PEPPERONI ROLLS, mozzarella sticks and Italian nacho appetizer

On a trip to Columbia my friend and I decided to try a different style pizza restaurant for lunch, one that offered many options however again I forgot to take a photo of the menu. When we entered it was pretty quiet with many empty seats. Our server, Jojo greeted us promptly and stated she would be back to get our drink order. Given how quiet the restaurant was we were surprised she didn't take our drink order right away. She was slow to return but eventually we placed our order for drinks and appetizer. Again, the appetizer was slow to come, however when it did arrive it was piping hot. The mozzarella sticks were lightly breaded and had the best cheese pull. The Italian nachos were also good along with the Sicilian pepperoni rolls. We decided to have an individual hand tossed pizza with garlic cream sauce as the base, chicken, bacon and mozzarella cheese. The pizza could have used more sauce. My friend had the Italian sandwich with a veggie side. Again the food took a bit of time to arrive, but yet again it was piping hot and so delicious. The marina sauce here is absolutely amazing. The quantity of food was so plentiful we took lots home. The prices were good too...all this for $48. Although Jojo appeared to be tied up when we were initially seated she definitely redeemed herself checking on us frequently and even bringing an order of fries because she had heard me mention that to my friend. Parking was also easy given the location of the restaurant although I suspect this could change when the college students return. Overall good food at very affordable pricing.

Pizza Hut style 'deep dish' with burned toppings (put the cheese on top and they don't burn)
    Tim T.

After recently relocating from Chicago and not finding anything anywhere near Chicago style pizza (thin or deep), gave this a try. Despite it being a Texas-based hospitality conglomerate, drove 45 min. Bad all the way around. 3 beers/ciders on the website and in-restaurant menu - Out. 3 happy hour apps - Out. Thin crust pizza - Out (huh?). Salad greens old. Beer glasses dirty. Pizza toppings burned. Service unfamiliar with menu, slow, inattentive, and overly apologetic without any making up for the misses. Washrooms smelly, dirty, and broken. Won't be back and will steer anyone from the Windy City far away.

I ordered the truffle fries to go along with the burger. Fries only come with a few of their dishes. The restaurant was a bit busy when I arrived, and I was asked if sitting at the bar was okay, which I didn't mind at all. As soon as I sat down, the bartender greeted me and took my order right away. excellent service from the start. He was very outgoing and friendly. When the seat next to me opened up, he immediately cleaned the area, which was great to see, especially during a busy time. The place overall felt very clean and well maintained. I ordered the Smokehouse Burger with fries. While waiting, the bartender consistently checked on me and kept my drink refilled, which I really appreciated. He even came back to let me know that the food was taking a little longer than usual since they weren't expecting it to be that busy. I completely understood and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while waiting. The food arrived in about 24 minutes and looked fantastic. The burger was cooked exactly how I asked which was well done and tasted great. I upgraded my fries to the bleu pimiento fries, and they were absolutely delicious. Everything was spot on. After lunch, I ordered a Cookies & Cream dirt shake, and it was amazing. The presentation was fun, and you could tell care went into how it was made. They also have a full bar with a good selection of alcohol, although I didn't order any drinks this visit. I spent about $36.00 total including tip. Overall, my experience at Mark's Grill was excellent. Great food, outstanding service, and a clean, welcoming environment. 5/5 -- I'll definitely be back.

Now, I do have to mention the one downside: the queso. As a big queso fan, I was a bit disappointed because while it tasted good, the texture wasn't quite right. It came out a little lumpy and not warm enough to be smooth, which was a letdown. On the bright side, the staff was fantastic about it. They noticed the issue, were super apologetic, and even took the queso off my bill without me asking. I'll also say that I got a margarita, which wasn't the greatest margarita I've ever had, but which was definitely above average relative to the ones I've gotten at similar Mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa also seemed to be fresher than other said Mexican restaurants, and my friend said that their food was pretty good as well. As for my food, I didn't necessarily love it, but it wasn't terrible either. I asked for a cheese quesadilla, and they gave me a chicken-and-cheese quesadilla instead. I understand that this was just a simple mistake, but it was kind of disappointing nonetheless. In addition, the tacos that I got were good and of high quality, but I do wish that they had been a little bit warmer by the time they got to my table. My friend and I got the garlic soy edamame and that was probably my favorite thing I ate. It was so flavorful, the edamame was well made very well, wasn't too salty. Our waitress Mina was such a delight. She said she made/created the Seakhawk Stack drink for the superbowl so I went ahead and got it :) and it was actually really good! My friends and I went during the NCAA Basketball Tournament, hoping to be able to watch all of the games at once. However, rather than having any of the basketball games on, they literally had a replay of an NFL game, a volleyball game, a TV that had timed out, and some kind of documentary on the other TV. When we asked our server if they could put the games on, we were told that they were unable to change the channels on the TV, as it was some kind of streaming service. Furthermore, we placed an order for drinks, and after sitting there for about fifteen minutes (15) minutes, got up and left after not seeing our waitress after that. If I were simply judging by this experience, I would have given The Yard negative stars if possible. However, my friends and I returned to The Yard to watch the NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship, and had a much better experience. It seemed that they were able to get the TV situation worked out, and we were actually able to get drinks this time. I know that this is the bare minimum for a sports bar, but they did show marked improvement from the first time that we went there. Our server, the bartender, and the hostess were all very nice, and I really liked the interesting sports regalia that was hanging on the walls. Overall, I'm going to give The Yard a generous three (3) stars, mainly considering the context in which my experiences took place. I hope that my first visit was simply a matter of needing to work the kinks out, and that future visits will be more in line with how my second visit went. I've yet to try their food, so I'll probably come back at least one more time, which'll serve as the tiebreaker as to whether The Yard is a worthwhile stop or not.
