We were here for a private event and it was great!! Everything was clean and the drinks were on point.

Great place for a party! Great catering and it's nice that they let you reserve the space.

Video: Manager Walks Around the Bar to Confront Me in My Face After Cursing Me Out and Tries to Kick Me Out! https://youtu.be/0o6-9dB0ns4 On the night of Wednesday, October 25th / morning of Thursday, October 26th, I stopped by the sports bar, Vista Union located in the Five Points district in downtown Columbia, SC. I experienced the worst customer service experience ever in my whole life! I sat at the bar waiting to be served for 1 hour & 30 minutes before even being acknowledged by the night shift Manager. After an hour and 30 minutes passed, the manager approached me to ask if I was doing alright and if I needed anything. I replied, "I'm honestly not doing very well at all. I've been sitting for an hour and a half and haven't been served or even acknowledged for the entire time I've been sitting at the bar! Why have I not been served?" I was obviously very frustrated because I hadn't been served or even acknowledged for the entire night. I sought answers and repeatedly reiterated the question, "What was the reason that I have not been served after a whole hour and a half of sitting at the bar?" The Manager then stated he was sorry and began to try and offer some platitudes as to why this happened. The Manager did not take any further initiative to address the issue and I was not at all consoled by his response. The response appeared to be excuses as to why this happened but no form of resolution was taken to appease the situation. I then continued to inquire and later asked if the reason I was not served was because I am a minority? The Manager became immediately infuriated and belligerent because of the statement. He began to curse me out like no one has ever cursed at me in my entire life; saying "Why the f*** are you bringing race into this sh*t? Don't you f***ing bring race up into this s**t. He told me get the f*** out and threatened to call the police!" I began to feel threatened as he proceeded to walk around from the bar to approach me with means of intimidation. There was no reason whatsoever for the Manager to walk around the bar to confront me face to face because we were already having the dispute across from one another at the bar. He violated me by brushing up against me and putting his hand against my shoulder while talking at me. I certainly did not want to be touched or brushed up against by someone who had just cursed me out like a dog and who attempted to kick me out of the bar for no good reason at all. He was the aggressor toward me after only asking a question that made him feel uncomfortable. At this point I started to record the incident on my iPhone and I noticed he started to back off a bit once on camera but he was still standing and staring over me all the while I remained seated in my chair at the bar. Throughout the entire incident I remained seated in my seat trying to keep my composure after being utterly cursed out and disrespected in front of everyone that was present. I restated my point over-and-over again that I had not done anything wrong. I felt I was purposely overlooked rather blatantly as I sat directly at the front of the bar while other customers were being attended to throughout the early morning hours. Overall, I regret having experienced this episode especially as a first-time customer to a place that seemed to be such a nice and lively venue. I obviously will never return to or dine at this establishment again after such an unfortunate experience. read more

Each time I've been the food has been unbelievably amazing and the drinks are phenomenal. They are usually way understaffed so the wait time is longer than you'd expect. Last night there 10-15 people at the bar and only one bartender/waitress out front. Took forever to take our order then she had to go to the kitchen twice to check on our food and I got mine about 10 minutes before the three other people in my party. we enjoyed the beer while we waited and she was apologetic but a few more hands could make for a better experience and a fifth star. read more

Came in on a Thursday with a group of friends. The bar has a nice atmosphere and that's what drew us in initially. It wasn't very busy and there were seats at the bar, so we there. We sat there for around 15 minutes before we were greeted or given menus. The bartender looked at us a few time and didn't acknowledge us. Finally he came over and asked if were doing okay. We let him know that no, we still needed menus and drinks. He got the menus and then was gone for a while after that. Once we got to order our drinks, the bartender was very rude and came off judgemental when the guys in our group asked if they had vanilla and/or flavored whiskeys. Never got the waters we asked for either. The experience got better once the owner came out and began serving behind the bar. We got our waters and checks quickly from him. Overall, still wasn't a pleasant experience and don't plan on returning. read more

Just came home from our high school reunion and I cannot speak highly enough of this venue. The employees are so incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. If you are looking for a spot to host a private event- have it here, they have cornhole boards, pool tables, and ample seating for a crowd. This is an excellent spot to stop in while you're in the Vista. The bar has a fun and laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend! read more
