Just a small disclaimer, The sauce here is not the best vinegar base sauce I had so I'm glad it was on the side. I think everything had too much vinegar in it. Maybe it's to cut the natural saltiness of the pork, in not sure, but it's not my cup of tea. My order: I got the 3 rib plate with Brunswick stew, coleslaw and bread. The ribs were tender and they are cooked in with some of the sauce product. The coleslaw was too vinegary for my liking. Brunswick stew also had too much vinegar for my liking. There is more advanced BBQ out there, but you'll have a hard time finding a better cheap eats version. Pulled pork and tea are reliable, but the fall apart ribs are the best grub. The half bird is a great option as well. The house sauce hints at the Carolinas, and the sweet sauce is good. I have reviewed them before and absolutely loved them. We eat there a lot and I have sent I don't know how many people there to try it. I can say the service has always been lacking, but the food made up for it. Until yesterday. Yesterday I ordered for my husband, me and our two-year-old daughter. It was almost $60 with tip, which is what I was expecting. But they gave us my husband's food and my daughter's food And when we went back inside to tell them that we didn't have my food we were asked what we did with it. We took our stuff out to eat on the patio. I ordered a pork plate and the Brunswick stew didn't have a lid so it's not like I was just gonna go hide it in my car And try to get more food. I was then asked to show my receipt which I had tapped no receipt when paying because I didn't feel like I needed it. She told my husband more than once that she really didn't feel like she needed to give us another pork plate. I didn't get it to begin with! I told him to forget it and they could eat and we would go. She ended up giving me my food and then stood there calling me a liar to the other people there. We won't be back. read more

The perfect no-frills bbq joint!! This place has a nice little covered patio and when we came for lunch it was packed! The prices for this place were super cheap and super tasty as well. This is definitely the place to come for some good bbq without the frills and it's reflected in the pricing as well. I got the bbq pork sandwich and brunswick stew and my partner got the bbq pork sandwich and baked beans. The bbq pork sandwich comes with the bbq sauce on the side, so you can add as you like or opt out. I enjoyed the bbq sauce and doused it on the sandwich. The pork was so tender and packed with flavor. The bun is really about as generic as you can get . The sandwich is on the smaller side, but with the pricing you can easily get two. We had a lighter lunch so one was fine for me. The brunswick stew was loaded with meat and some corn and was so good! My partner enjoyed his beans as well, but said they were a little sweet. (We opted not to get the combination plate as we aren't the biggest fans of cole slaw, but the bread on the combination plate is your standard white bread untoasted.) This barbecue is as close to being barbecue from North Carolina as any in the Atlanta metro area. All of their food is delicious. This barbecue restaurant has been open for many years. I have been holding off on writing this review for a few weeks. I was really conflicted about my trip here. the food was excellent, the ribs had the light bark in the surface followed by a well defined smoke ring ending with succulent and tender meat. The pulled pork wasn't dried and had a nice taste to it. The slaw was a vinegar base and was tasty. the Mac and cheese fantastic. Then why conflicted you ask? Well the only complaint I had with the food was the provided sauce. It wasn't to my taste. A vinegar based sauce with lots o tomato base. No much more taste than that. Even that didn't dampen the meal because I usually eat good barbecue with sauce. The service was counter service and everyone was friendly so no gigs there. What slowed me down in writing this has more to do with the times we live in and the rapid inflation we have been going through. I just felt for the price I should have gotten more than 3 ribs and a scoop of pork. Especially since the slaw serving was so small. Maybe I'm stuck in another time where inflation wasn't king. The food and staff were great. I will probably be feeling this one over and over in the coming months but the price for what you got was uncomfortable. After highly disappointing (non) sevice at Fox Bros BBQ in Brookhaven, I drove down the road to Old Brick Pit BBQ and got excellent service and absolutely delicious ribs. Don't know what they marinated them in but they were fantastic even without sauce. Brunswick Stew was good - I'm not the biggest fan of Brunswick Stew so will try a different side next time I come. I came for the ribs and was more than happy with my choice. Don't go to Fox Bros. Come here where the prices are reasonable, food is fabulous and service is excellent! read more

Brand new to this place, I tried it because it is convenient to Costco where I had an errand. It's a good thing I didn't read the restaurant description, because I didn't think I liked vinegar-based barbecue, but this was delicious! I got the half rack of ribs and it was falling off the bone! That is what I'm always looking for when I get ribs. These were so falling off the bone it seemed they were never attached! They had a great seasoning and mild smoky flavor. I like that I could just order the ribs, and not bother with any of the sides. I'm all about the meat. Even though I requested sauce on the side, I could tell that they were basted with some sauce during cooking, which is fine. Just a few extra carbs for this keto girl, but totally worth it! Normally, I swing by the Pig-n-Chik BBQ place a couple of blocks away but I decided to check this one out after getting my second vaccine at the Wal-Mart in celebration. The menu was very limited but I quickly chose the rib plate. It came very quickly and only cost about $10 a change. The ribs looked and smelled super good even though there was only three. Fortunately, they tasted amazingly good as well. Nice crisp on the outside, fatty and mouth-satisfying on the inside. So it was quality over quantity. I also found the tart/sweet slaw tasty and the Brunswick stew, while a little watery, yummy. As you can tell I'm not a foodie food critic cos I just used the word yummy. Old Brick Pit BBQ recently extended their hours, so they're now open from 11am until 8pm (used to be 7pm), Monday through Saturday. Still closed Sundays. This is an old-fashioned BBQ joint in Brookhaven, just north of Oglethorpe University. The restaurant is easy to miss because of its nondescript appearance. The building looks like a glorified shack, its top made to resemble a red barn complete with traditional-style barn doors. The place looks like it's been around for decades. Old Brick Pit got its name for the old brick pit smoker that was designed by the original owners and is still in use today. Old Brick Pit uses vinegar-based BBQ sauce. However, it doesn't taste like the vinegar-based sauces in my home state of North Carolina. It actually tastes like a mixture between sauces from North Carolina and Georgia. Whereas NC sauces tend to be more vinegary, Old Brick Pit's BBQ sauce has some extra sweetness to it. The restaurant's menu is simple, which is a good thing: BBQ pork (pulled), ribs, BBQ chicken, Brunswick stew, coleslaw, baked beans, and peach cobbler. The BBQ sandwich is only $2.75. Plates are anywhere from $6.40 to $9.75 each. All of this is a good deal, especially considering the amount of food you get. Generous portions. I've tried just about everything on the menu. The $9.60 combination plate seems to be the best deal if you want a good sampling of what the restaurant has to offer. It comes with BBQ pork, 2 ribs, stew, slaw, and 2 small slices of plain, soft white bread. The stew also comes with a pack of crackers. Old Brick's BBQ sauce isn't bad, but I'm not a huge fan. I can't put my finger on it, but it's just not as tasty to me as some of the other BBQ sauces around town. Unfortunately, this affects all the meat. I like how the pulled pork is separated into finer, smaller strands. I prefer it this way. The only downside to the pulled pork is it's a bit tough and chewy. It could stand to be softer. Then again, they don't use pork butts or pork shoulders here, so that's part of the reason. I found myself slathering on more sauce than I wanted to. The ribs are OK. Good flavor and consistency. The chicken is the surprise -- it's very tender and juicy. If you haven't tried it, I'd definitely give it a shot. The stew is below average, unappetizing. However, I really like the slaw. Crispy, crunchy, and the appropriate amount of tanginess! I like to add black pepper to my slaw to make it taste even better. I love the sweet tea ($1.50) here. It's super sweet and made all the better with crushed ice. Free refills. Old Brick Pit has a casual, laid back atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Order at the register and pick up at the counter. Disposable Styrofoam plates and cups and plastic silverware. Indoor booth seating and covered outdoor patio seating is available. Come during the day, preferably at lunchtime or in the afternoon, for the freshest and best-tasting BBQ. At night, they close the kitchen and serve food that's cooked from earlier in the day (still not bad, but not as good as fresh-cooked). read more
