    Khao soi steak
    Elven B.

A beautiful upper tier Thai restaurant. Feels new, clean, and trendy. We ordered the Khao soi, tom yum, and kra pow. All were excellent, deep, and flavorful. We're big Thai food fans and their style of cooking set itself apart from some of our favorites spots. I was impressed that the garnishes were served on the side. My wife doesn't like onions or cilantro and I love them, so being able to share with her, and then add them in for myself was appreciated. The crispy chili oil at the table left a positive impression on me as well. We'll be back to further explore the menu.

Location (4/5): Corner spot in the same plaza as the Kroger. It was kind hard to spot since the sign was not very big. I was surprised how nice it looked inside compared to the exterior view. It had an overall relaxed/chill vibe to it. Food (5/5): Started with the curry puffs which was one of the best I've had. Really flaky and good amount of stuffing in them. Tried the Boat Noodle and Steak Khao Soi. Both were solid choices with them being very flavorful, good amount of protein in them, and just had an overall clean taste to them. Overall just a great experience with the food. I'll be going back to try the other dishes.

I've been hearing about this place for a while and finally got time to try it out. I didn't get a picture of the boat noodle but let me tell you it was probably my least favorite, the broth was too sweet and it had a coconut flavor not the best. I give it a 5/10. The beef kra paw was 7/10 but meat tasted cheap. The khao Soi probably the best thing was a 8/10. Portions were huge I will say and prices were not bad. The place was nice and comfortable super modern maybe I'll give them another chance in the future.

If you are craving flavorful boat noodles then Old Boy is the place to end your cravings. This spot has been home to a few other noodle shops in the past. The menu is noodles geared towards Thai cuisine. I will say for Thai food that the menu is above the average amount that you normally pay for Thai food, but I think the reason why is that it is in Southlake and the ambience is pretty fancy for a noodle shop. The service is very fast and knowledgeable about their menu which is always good. The food itself was pretty good. I enjoyed the appetizers and the boat noodles. This is probably a very good place for a romantic noodle dinner or a nice work lunch. I think I'll come back again for date night with the wife.

Really solid food and the service is great. I do miss Malacca, it's very difficult to find Malaysian food. The inside is basically the same and some of the staff is the same as well. The curry puffs weren't as authentic as I hoped but the beef bowl was very good. The khao soi was also spicier than I expected, I was surprised when the receipt said "non spicy". I think they'll have to tone it down a bit to cater it to the people in the area. Overall, great spot; but Malacca will be missed. Hoping they can open closer to Plano or Frisco, I think the cuisine would be more appreciated there than where it originally opened.

From the moment we walked in everything was perfect. They have a cloud series drink, and we bought the Ube and Matcha. Both were so so good. And then my son got the garlic fried rice and I got the steak khao soi. I am so excited that this restaurant is here because the food is excellent! This is definitely one that we will add into our repertoire.

The beef noodle soup was one of the best dishes I've had in a while. The beef was so tender, the broth was flavorful - overall a great lunch experience. I also tried the curry puffs and they were equally delicious.

This is a must try spot in Southlake located in the corner of the Kroger parking lot. The outside doesn't have signage yet, but the inside is well put together and clean. The service was great, the people who run old boy are kind and helpful. We tried the boat noodles and garlic fried rice. The proteins are good quality, the food is flavorful, and there is plenty on the menu to try. The fried rice might be the best I've had, if you don't mind some heat add some of the chili oil that's in the middle of the table! If you haven't tried Old Boy yet, give it a try it won't disappoint!

The beef boat noodles were amazing. I was able to choose the rice noodles but you can also choose egg noodles or glass noodles! The chicken garlic rice was absolutely amazing. I topped both dishes with their chili oil and it was insanely good.

AMAZING tastes. We eat a lot of Thai, vietnamese, Indian etc. food and are picky' I also cook it myself. So I do know what I'm talking about. This place is THE BOMB. the curry puffs were so flaky, light, and flavorful. Some of the best I've had, even better than the ones I ate in Singapore. The Khao soi was total chef's kiss. The broth was flavorful beyond belief. The noodles were well done. Next time I will ask for my shrimp tempura on the side because it was soggy. The boat noodles were delicious. The pork broth was super flavorful. My dining companions raved. The Passionista was beautiful. So gorgeous. It was however way too sweet for me. But I also don't eat a lot of sugar so YMMV Really hope this place makes it. No restaurants like this in the Kelle, and Southlake, Grapevine neighborhood

came in during soft opening and though their food tasted very good (get the khao soi you will not be disappointed!!!) they definitely have a lot of things to improve on service wise. first, when we came in there wasnt anyone to greet us. waited for about a minute or two and then we decided to just sit ourselves. the waiter eventually came out and handed us the menu after some time. food came out at a reasonable time but the waiter got my friend's order completely wrong. she got a different protein and a different type of noodle than what she ordered for her boat noodle. taste wise the khao soi and both broths for the boat noodles was very good. no notes. looking forward to come back and try out their other stuff and for hopefully better service next time

I had a great experience at Old Boy after hearing about it on social media for a long time. I tried the Boat Noodles -- some people say they are too sweet, but authentic Thai boat noodles really do taste like that. The Khao Soi Duck was amazing, and the Num Tok used high-quality steak with fresh vegetables that were beautifully prepared and fully edible. Definitely worth trying if you enjoy real Thai flavors.

    Khao Soi

Food, service, and ambiance were all nice. I felt bad that I was the only person eating from 5-6 on a Monday. I got the papaya salad and khao soi.

My husband got this. I think it was boat noodles. It was just okay

Should've done a side-by-side, but it was only me. Lol. The fish was exquisite. The heat was also good. This dish pairs really well with rice; I also enjoy taking the leftovers home, letting them sit overnight in the fridge, and enjoying with more rice. Mmm! But I am from out of town and was alone, so I ate it all there. They don't have WiFi, but there was some "guest Frontier" WiFi that was good for an hour. (And you can refresh it each hour.) Next time, I would try the "Szechuan Boiled Fish." Or if that's too much, the Mapo Tofu. I placed an online…read moreorder for the two chicken egg rolls, Spicy chili wontons, general Tso chicken and an order of fried rice flat noodles. All the food was on the expensive side, but I heard it was good, so I didn't mine. One of the first thing I noticed was the entrees do not come with rice. There is a $1 up charge for white rice and $3 for fried rice, $5 for noodles. I have never experienced a Chinese restaurant that charged for white rice with an entree (not even PF Chang). I arrived 10 minutes after the time I was told my food would be ready. I checked in at the register and was told it would be another 5 minutes. I was told to have a seat and wait. Since there is no place to sit when waiting for a take out order, I sat down in the closet booth next to the register. After about 1 minute, a very rude lady came over in broken English and screamed that I could not sit there. I told her I was waiting on a to-go order and she just kept screaming "you don't can sit there", so I got up and stood by the front door. If my food had not already been paid for, I would have left after that rude encounter. The ambiance of the restaurant is very strange as they had a boombox loudly playing 80s music. It was so load, I felt bad for the customers who were eating at there. No way you could enjoy siting there listening to the annoying loud music while you ate. About 5 minutes later (15 minutes past the time they originally told me it would be ready) my food was ready. The food did come out very hot. I retrieved my food and took it home to enjoy. Overall the food is very basic and not worth the elevated price. The egg rolls were over fried and greasy. The spicy wonton were very bland and not spicy at all. The general Tso chicken was not good. Very small pieces of chicken, over breaded and a bland sauce. Again not spicy at all. The fried flat rice noodles were the biggest disappointment. Mushy noodles that were all stuck together. Not good at all. Overall the Noodle Works was a big disappointment. There are so many better option in the area (Dragon House or the Wok). Do yourself a favor and skip the rude staff Noodle Works.

The dumplings themselves absolutely lived up to the hype--perfectly delicate with a flavorful broth inside. The variety in the dim sum was impressive, and the lo mein had a great texture and seasoning that tied the meal together nicely. You can tell there's real skill in the kitchen when it comes to the food. My only complaint was noticing the staff making the fresh dumplings eating personal food while working.
