Well, it only took me four years after moving to NE Ohio before I finally checked this place out. Kind of bummed I took so long, but I did it and now it's gonna be a staple of my restaurant visits. I take the family out to dinner every Friday and this is definitely going to be added to that list. Ribs were good. Coleslaw was good. Brisket was good pulled pork was good. Sausages were good. Yes it's expensive but everything is expensive these days. At least you know you're getting good meat and you're helping a local business versus a franchise. We'll have to try the wings next time and the fries. They both look bomb along with the mac & cheese. Oh, and their spiciest barbecue sauce is no joke. Wow spicy. It's a bigger building than you would've thought from the pictures. We order extra because everyone takes a to-go pack. Easy to work with and the food is consistently fantastic. Eating at the BBQ shop itself is laid back. A small place inside, tables outside with views of the old golf course. The smells from the smoker make you order more then you probably bargained for. Must get the Mac and Cheese and the Brisket. Every time I'm in Aurora I stop in. I'm never disappointed. Service is fast. It's hard to find good barbecue in Ohio, but this place has it.

Been here now a handful of times. Had the walking taco. Good. More filling than it looks. The corned beef for St Patrick's. That was amazingly good. The Wilber and the brisket. Both decent. Yes, it's true. Real BBQ can be found in NE Ohio and Ol'chefskis does a great rendition of brisket, pulled pork, and other sides that you expect from a good pit master. Their sauce is tomato based, and is very good for that type of approach. I tend to like vinegar based sauces, but this one is good and it has a hint of heat to it. Grab your favorite habanero sauce to spike the heat up, and you'll be happy! They're open in their new location on Trails End in Aurora. Just had dinner with Ol'Chefskis carry out and it was great. It was a dinner for eight and the hostess got their ribs and pork barbecue as well as their macaroni and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw. The ribs were meaty and very tasty. Everything was delicious, but the potato salad and macaroni and cheese were especially good. I heard that their hours vary because they close early if they sell out. Not sure if that's true, but our hostess called a few days ahead and set up a pickup time, so it wasn't an issue. I also don't know about the cost, but I would be glad to have their food again. As a brisket-lover, I would try their brisket next. If you are a barbecue fan, I recommend giving them a try. read more

Be careful questioning a bad order, as they believe that just telling the customer that they will call the police is the way to handle it!!! This place is probably about 30 minutes from my house and I'd go out of my way any day to return! The day I went we had just volunteered at a Greyhound adoption event and were muddy and tired. We didn't want anything from a drive thru or go inside anywhere to eat. Saw this place on Yelp and went with the hope it was as good as reviewers said. Fast forward...Yes! Wow! I got the mac and cheese with pork and it was amazing! Loved the sauce, texture, taste, and pairing. The portion size was insane! I had the left overs for dinner the next day and it was just as good then, maybe better. My daughter got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of cole slaw which was also a great choice. I swear they must get these buns somewhere special- they are huge and can hold up to the amount of pork they piled on the sandwich. Having cole slaw on the sandwich would've been too much and might've gotten the bun a tad soggy. The sandwich was also huge and half was taken home. I like cole slaw on the chunkier side and theirs was perfect. It was nice sitting outside in their gazebo without worrying about how muddy we were. It was a rewarding meal after a day of volunteering. We will be back. You will too. read more

Y'all's food is miserable and you should be ashamed of yourselves for even calling whatever it is you serve BBQ. You're not serving brisket, it's steamed pot-roast made from a brisket which is the saddest thing you could do to that cut of meat. Free tip, don't wrap in aluminum foil and yes, it is possible to overcook a brisket. You don't even cut your meat right! AGAINST THE GRAIN not with it! jesus tap dancing christ...How your ratings are so good is one of life's mysteries up there with "how did they build the pyramids" and "who really shot JFK". Returned my brisket sandwich as it was inedible and got a pulled pork instead. Threw my pulled pork replacement away after three sad bites as that was not any better. At that point I just gave up and left, the staff clearly didn't care. Who can't make a decent pulled pork?! It's BBQ on training wheels...rub a pork butt in seasonings, smoke @ 225f until the shoulder bone pulls out cleanly, occasionally mop w/ sauce and/or apple cider vinegar, it's not hard. Your pork was dry, flavorless, and stringy, and was absolutely drowned in a rancid Cole-slaw which had so much liquid draining off it that I had less of a pulled pork sandwich and more a cold coleslaw/pork soup in a hoagie bread bowl. Honestly it was the only 'sandwich' I think I needed a spoon to eat if I were able to get over the rancid flavor. Service was poor, No manager came to chat or see if there was anything they could do to help when I was clearly not stoked on my meal. Look...I love BBQ. I'm from Texas, and run on the KCBS competitive circuit. I was so excited when I saw your joint, it looked so legit! Big wood smoker out back, grungy dudes with beards hanging around it, sign that says "open till we sell out" man that's all good things. Drove 30 minutes out of my way to swing by your spot for lunch! I went from excited to absolutely bummed in about 10 minutes flat. I go out of my way to try new BBQ joints and can usually find something worth eating there even if their brisket isn't up to snuff, and lord knows small businesses don't need bad reviews right now, but this place is irredeemable. Family and I were looking for a quick new place to try as we are new to the area. We found this place on Yelp and the pictures looked amazing! However, the actual food was not!!!! If you've ever had real BBQ I suggest you DO NOT eat here as you will be severely disappointed. Mac-N-Cheese, bland, backed beans tasted like canned, sausage seemed flash grilled and had horrible flavor from doing so, pulled pork was worse than something you can buy at Wal-Mart pre-packaged, bbq sauce tasted store bought. They had just run out of brisket so was unable to try. But glad they did, so I wouldn't be disappointed in that as well, if it was just like everything else. I am from the south and have had amazing BBQ, maybe my expectations are too high. But I've also had BBQ from Germany to Japan to Montana and this is by far the worst I've ever had. read more

The car window was rolled down as I headed by this small shack on route 82 in Aurora. Smells of smokesmeat wafted in... I told my daughter we would see what it was on the way back. Next to Becks farm stand, a little brown house sells smoked pork and brisket. We were excited to try it. 7.00 for a sandwich including coke slaw. Delicious meat, the best Mac and cheese...and try the walking taco!!! worth a try if you're in the area. UPDATE: Open now at 15 Trails End. I just got done eating at Ol'chefski's for the first time earlier today, even though it's my 3rd time driving there. They had sold out early the other two times. I have no problem with this. In fact, I think it's cool when a place is so popular because it usually indicates a high quality product. For a place that is described as "Cleveland's Best BBQ", I was underwhelmed with some overpriced food. For a three meat combo (4 ribs, average portion of brisket, average portion of pulled pork, and mac and cheese), it cost $38. I can overlook the high prices if the food is exceptional, especially considering the state of the U.S economy. But, the problem is that for all the hype, the food is just ok. Let's start with the positives: the pulled pork and the mac and cheese. The pulled pork was very tender, juicy, and flavorful. It had that nice fatty texture that I look for in pulled pork, along with spices that gave it a unique flavor. It had a mesquite, almost bbq chip flavor to it. The mac and cheese is ooey and gooey in the best possible way. The pasta shells were cooked perfectly and the cheese sauce is super creamy. The flavor is simple, but it works. If this was all I ordered, I would give them a 4 star review. Now the negatives: the brisket and the ribs. Most of the slices of brisket were pretty tough and chewy. Other than the mild smokey flavor, there wasn't much else going on. It was just not cooked properly. It was probably the toughest brisket I've ever had. Similarly, the ribs were just bland. Additionally, some of the ribs were not trimmed in the back, so there were really chewy parts that I didn't eat. Don't get me wrong, the ribs were ok, but just ok. I've had much better in this area for less money. If I were to compare this place with their closest competitor, Oak and Embers, I would give the nod to Oak and Embers. I swear I have no affiliation with OAE, but I think they really are better. Their brisket has a similar flavor, nothing special, but it's much more tender. Their ribs are far more flavorful, well-trimmed, and just seem to be superior in quality. They are slightly cheaper and offer you two sides, plus a nice hunk of sweet cornbread with your 2-3 meat combo. Ol'chefski's meat combos don't come with sides or cornbread; it costs extra. Lastly, they are a nice sit down restaurant with a full bar and a dynamic menu, unlike Ol'chefski's. Overall, Ol'chefski's is a solid roadside bbq establishment with friendly service and decent enough food. But, it is nowhere even close to Cleveland's or Northeast Ohio's best bbq. If you are expecting them to be, you will be disappointed. I wish them all the best, and obviously this is just my opinion. Try them out for yourself, and see what you think. read more

I have been eating ribs all over the country for many decades; 5, and these are the very worst rubs I've ever eaten. With all the 5 star ratings how possible? It's a mystery to me. If you like eating lumps of sugar with a trace of smoke because certainly they are the sweetest ribs I've ever tasted and if you like eating a slab of lard which indicates and represents a poor method of cooking preparation probably boiling them or steaming them and then putting them over a smoky grill for a little bit to crisp the exterior but leaving all the fat in the ribs. Good barbecuing techniques cause the fat to melt drip away. That is not the case with these ribs. I suggest just buying one slab of ribs not like me who bought 3 1st time around with this outfit and spent around $80 Including some sides, good goeslaw. It really pains me to say how bad their ribs are, talking about the ribs only. Thinking on it further see if you can buy a quarter slab or half a slab to give them a test first. You would be better off going to Marc's and buying a slab of Tony Romas for 10 bucks. read more

I've eaten in thousands of restaurants and written hundreds and hundreds of reviews. This is the first time I've been in a restaurant that deserves a -5. We went there with our kids and grandkids for lunch today. Something very unusual happened after I ordered $85 worth of food And the menu was such that for some people. It was hard to order but we got by with it when the lady brought out the food my son asked for a couple glasses of water for the kids woman says we don't have any water my son said ,well by Ohio law you're required to have water if anybody asks for it now I have to preface this by saying that I tried to order diet pop for everyone and they told me they were out of diet pop, so my son said that they were required to provide water tapwater not bottled water just have water and a glass for anybody that asked in that state .I don't know this but that's what my son said she went in and sent out the manager or the owner, who then started to yell at my son, and says since they didn't serve liquor, and since it was mainly a to go place, they didn't have to give anything to anybody This is over a couple glasses of water you understand the woman who first talk to us then came out and started to scream at us then two police cars pulled up and said you have to leave the premises. We all got up and left and left the food that we had paid for sitting on the table, the police actually walked with us to escort us off the property. This is the first time I've ever been thrown off the property of a restaurant for asking for a glass of water the worst place anybody who goes there is out of their minds. read more
