Ambiance 10/10- trendy, upper scale feel. Bringing the New York vibe to Indy Service: 10/10- I didn't really care for our waitress but the manager was very attentive and had great customer service skills Food: sushi was decent. The rice didn't taste like sushi rice, it felt a little harder. And I wish they had a larger menu selection. I would say better than most sushi in Indy though. Drinks were good! It's pretty pricey there but we would go back and try other dishes!

Went for soft opening! Aesthetics were beautiful, literally felt like I was in NYC; our table looks like tatami mats on the floor but there's a hole for our legs We got some rolls from their soft opening menu. All the fish in our rolls was minced (not my preference). The fish was pretty fresh and rolls overall were lightly seasoned. Our bluefin tuna roll was only 5pc and I wish that was notated on the menu. Enjoyed my cocktail! It had lychee and earthy herbs. We met the owner and she discussed a lot of thought that went into the restaurant and that was really cool.

Went here for a quick date night, I was wary that service may be slow because they just opened and are likely still working kinks out. But for a Saturday at 6:30, service was fast, friendly and attentive! We each had a drink- espresso martinis are very good, the margarita... eh- and 3 rolls to share because we weren't super hungry. 2 rolls (Kari-kari shrimp and spicy scallop) were really good but the 3rd (Nami heat) was just ok, just not our fave. The restaurant is gorgeous and creates an intimate space with the low lighting! I would love to go back and try again when they have their full menu!

Celebrated my birthday with an omakase! It was our first time here and the food was spectacular and so flavorful! The service was great and such a modern ambiance! Parking is available in the garage and very accessible.

Incredible food, service, and ambiance. We did the Omakase (chef's choice tasting menu), which took roughly 90 minutes. I believe 11 courses, everything exceptionally delicious. You can also do a sake pairing, which definitely added to the overall experience. The cocktails are interesting with a unique twist to each of them. Overall a great new addition to the Carmel dining scene. Highly recommend for anyone interested in Japanese food wanting a more high end dining experience.

Great ambiance, service and experince. Will be back for the Omakase! They have a setup for live music, a great bar, on point cocktails, and really fresh high end sushi

Did the omakase experience - while pricey, it was excellent. Great service. Excellent cuts of fish. Definitely a memorable experience.

It is fancy and clean restaurant. I want to be back try omakase . Great sushi and very fresh . The rolls were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. Nice atmosphere and very clean restaurant. I will definitely come back again. Highly recommend

Such an amazing experience! This was our second time going and experienced the omakase. Highly recommend. The sushi was so fresh. It tasted exactly like when I was in Japan. Also, be sure to meet Jackson at the bar. He was very knowledgeable on drinks, sake, and our meal. By far my new favorite restaurant.

Very overpriced for the quality of fish. Inside was pretty cool and drinks were good. But the fish itself was just okay.

Amazing new addition to the Carmel scene. Omakase sushi, amazing rolls, Kobe steak. Beautifully designed space. Still getting up to speed and ready to serve some of the best sushi in town.

This design looks like a haphazard patchwork. There's no theme or personality, and I see absolutely no atmosphere of a Japanese restaurant, even if it claims to be high-end. It's more like a nightclub. Shouldn't the chefs be wearing hats? I personally think this is very unhygienic. And some of the server they not really know about the menu , He hesitated and couldn't answer several questions. We could only awkwardly continue looking at the menu. Maybe it's only suitable for people who like to try new places.

We had an amazing experience at Okonori last night. First, the restaurant look and ambiance is amazing. I think it is the nicest I have been in, in the greater Indianapolis area. This was our first visit(my son and I). We had been told they have something like a tasting menu. I did not see this when I looked online. I arrived early and the General Manager was telling me about the restaurant. I inquired about a "tasting menu". He mentioned some Chef's selections on the menu and they have an Omakase table. He explained the omakase, but said they only have scheduled sittings for this. I said we would like to do that and will try another night to make a reservation for the omakase table. He quickly went and talked to the chefs and told me that he could accommodate us for the omakase table. The experience was incredible! We had our own chef(Ben). He prepared each of the 14 courses individually. I have eaten a pretty decent number of Sushi places and this was by far the best. Actually, nothing else comes close to this and is probably the best meal I have ever had. We did the sake pairing and it too was really fun. Annie was in charge of the sake and talked to us about each one and each food item that we had. It was expensive, but I still feel like it was a great value. All of the ingredients come directly from Japan. I saw some reviews mentioning this was like a restaurant in New York. It is definitely the caliber of high end sushi in New York. In fact, Annie and Chef Jimmy have moved here directly from New York. Sorry this is so long. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I really feel this experience should be shared and others should flock to Okonori for excellent food. It was truly one of the best dining experiences my son and I have ever had.

    Sashimi special great great great!

The service was quick and cordial. The food is good, though could be better. We liked the fried tempura and the sauce that it comes with. I thought the Japanese curry was good and I enjoyed the pickled veggies, but the curry only thinly lay on top and it didn't have any carrots/potatoes in the curry. The fried pork cutlets were very yummy though. The yakisoba was good but the flavor was on the more mild side and the noodles seemed a little too soft for my liking. It's very pretty and seems like a nice place for a date or outing if you're up in Carmel area.

When we arrived for our midafternoon reservation, we appeared to be the only customers in the restaurant. Others arrived after we were seated and were seated at the regular tables. A group of three were seated at a hibachi table. There seemed to be confusion about which hibachi table we were supposed to be seated, and the hostess asked if our entire group was going to be there. We assured her that everyone was there and in fact walking in the door at that moment. We were seated around two hibachi grills that were side-by-side, so all 16 of us were sitting together in a big square around the two grills. We sat with 8 men on one side and 8 women on the other. A few of us order vegetable hibachi, others ordered chicken hibachi, and a few ordered steak. The server seemed put out with us as soon as he started taking orders. He explained that it would be easier if we rearranged our seating and said that his order pad was like a map, and he even showed us that there were 16 squares around the tables and he would have to write on each square if we had different orders. We didn't want to change our seating arrangement, and he seemed visibly annoyed with us. Service was fairly slow, and when the server started bringing our soup we didn't have silverware or napkins. We had to ask for silverware and he seemed surprised that we were asking. The hibachi chefs were great! Definitely the best part of our experience. They were cheerful and engaged well with everyone. They put on an entertaining show. As for the food, I would say that it was just ok. The fried rice lacked flavor and was fairly greasy. The noodles too, had absorbed quite a bit of oil. The vegetables were good but servings were a little skimpy, especially considering that the rice was just plain rice without any added onions, garlic, peas, carrots, or other things that are usually added to fried rice. More vegetables on the grill would have been appreciated. The chef had grilled a large mound of rice and large mound of noodles but much smaller amount of vegetables. The chicken and steak were good. A few in our group also ordered sushi and they enjoyed it. The restaurant was very attractive, with nice decor. We also had a $20 off coupon, which made the dinner very affordable for sushi. The only drawback here was the service. Our server also got part of my son's order wrong, bringing out a shrimp tempura roll instead of just the shrimp tempura. He fixed it, but it did take quite a long time. Overall, very good. Just some minor complaints.
