Located on Roosevelt Row, Taco Boy's has a parking lot. It's not big, but I found a spot on a Thursday evening. Ambiance (3.5/5): Taco Boy's is a little chaotic. You order at the counter and then they call your name when your food is ready. It's not a large taco joint, and it's a popular taco joint. Which means you'll see a lot of people cycling in and out, as a lot place to-go orders too. Not the most calm experience, but not an issue for me. You'll also come out smelling like meat lol. They have an open kitchen, and it smells fantastic. The downside is that it sticks to your clothes, too. Service (4/5): Service isn't a big part of the experience, but for what it is, it's pretty smooth. They took my order quickly, I paid relatively quickly, and my food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Drinks (5/5): I'm a sucker for agua frescas. Taco Boy's delivers. They had four flavors available. I went with the pineapple/mango. It's served in a large cup. Good stuff. Food (5/5): I wasn't terribly hungry so I got a small barbacoa quesadilla. Outside of quesadillas, they have tacos, vampiros, and burritos. Your choice of meat including usual suspects like carne asada, al pastor, chicken, etc. They grill all of their food right in front of you and it's absolutely delicious. Fresh off the grill. Flavorful. Well marinated. Quality meats and ingredients. At the complimentary salsa bar, you can stock up on various sauces, limes, cucumbers, etc. I can't wait to get back to have a heartier meal and try out more of their items. Hands-down, the best Mexican food I've had in Phoenix so far (after a year and a half).

Here's a refined review without the mention of being in the top 5% of reviewers: Review for [Maguey Taco Bar]: A Culinary Triumph at Cactus and Tatum [Maguey Taco Bar] is an absolute standout in the Paradise Valley dining scene, offering an experience that goes well beyond a typical meal. After my recent visit, it's clear that this corner gem is setting the standard for exceptional food and hospitality. I began with the Tampiqueña, a dish that beautifully balances bold flavors with refined execution. The steak was expertly cooked--tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The enchilada on the side added a smoky, savory depth that made each bite memorable, while the accompanying sides brought the perfect touch of freshness. My mother had the Alambre, a hearty and vibrant mix of grilled meats, fresh vegetables, and melted cheese served with warm tortillas. The flavors were perfectly balanced, offering a delightful interplay of smoky, savory, and satisfying notes. This dish was both filling and elevated, showcasing the chef's skill in creating authentic yet innovative cuisine. I couldn't resist trying two of their quesadillas, and they exceeded all expectations. The freshly made tortillas, perfectly melted cheese, and thoughtfully chosen fillings turned a classic into a standout dish. Simple in concept but exceptional in execution. The margaritas, however, might just be the hidden stars of the menu. Over the course of the meal, I enjoyed three varieties, each crafted with fresh ingredients and a balanced blend of tartness and sweetness. The attention to detail in these cocktails was unmistakable, and they paired beautifully with every dish. The ambiance was equally impressive--welcoming, stylish, and just the right balance of relaxed and refined. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who made the entire experience even more enjoyable. This wasn't just a meal; it was an experience. I'm already planning to return with my wife for dinner, excited to explore more of the menu and enjoy another round of their expertly crafted margaritas. In short, this is the best food on the corner of Cactus and Tatum, and a must-visit for anyone looking for a truly memorable dining experience in Paradise Valley. From the exceptional food to the impeccable service, [Maguey Taco Bar] has earned its place as a top-tier dining destination. 5/5 stars--highly recommended! read more
