This restaurant was so good that we went back a second night while we were visiting Philadelphia. On our recent annual trip up the east coast to visit the north east part of the country this year, my wife and I stayed a couple days in Philadelphia. One of the highlights of our trip in the way of food was Keatings Rope and Anchor. On the first night, we sat outside overlooking the water and it was very romantic. If you have the option of sitting outside or sitting inside, I highly recommend sitting outside. We were not that hungry on the first night so we both ordered salads. My wife ordered the chicken Caesar salad and I ordered a special of the day Caprese salad. They were both absolutely delicious and the portion to price ratio was right on par. We were absolutely exhausted on day two and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal from evening one that we decided to go back. I am so glad that we did. We both had the Keating's famous double burger and I normally don't find anything special about a burger in this case, however, The burger was cooked to absolute perfection. I cannot tell you how many times I have asked for a medium burger and it comes out somewhere between medium well and well done. In this case, there was just enough pink on the inside of the burger that it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. The staff was awesome, the restaurant was clean, and we had a wonderful experience.

The salad was okay. A heaping serving of crab, with half an avocado on top and served on a bed of lettuce. So not the most complex of flavors, but it was fine. The margarita was a tad on the sweet side for me. The service was excellent. My server was friendly and attentive. He gave me a few recommendations for how to spend my time in Philly and was prompt with taking my order as well as bringing out the food (but given my description of my salad above, I would expect it to be easy prep and quick to come out). The ambiance was very nice. The hostess sat me at a window seat right next to the water. The view was gorgeous and a perfect solo lunch where I got to read my book and await for the wedding festivities. If I didn't stay at the hotel, I probably would not have gone out of my way to eat here, but it's a good option to have for vibes and drinks.

Oddly I wanted a lobster roll with out the roll but still went with the soup anyway. But, he said he could do that. The soup was pretty good. We do not get a lobster roll when we visited. But, The soup hit the spot. The bathroom was so cute. It had a a nautical theme. This place really made me think of coastal Maine. Pricing was on point for lobster. No complaints. There are a few tables and a window bar like seat option that faces the street. The offer Maine sodas to drink.

After driving around for 20 minutes to find parking I called and they had not received my order. Uber Eats or Door Dash must be the preferred. Or call! Anywho, Uber Eats delivered. It was cold. I don't believe the other lobsters rolls I had were cold. These were and still good. Maybe they are warm if you pick up ‍ They give ample portions and the butter is on the side. Three ramekins! One for each roll. I only needed one for all three. Note to self: always ask for butter on side. The shrimp roll was packed. Thankful because the baby shrimp were baby. The lobster roll was about 1 claws worth. It was the crab that shocked me. Overflowing with crab meat. Everything was fresh. The bread was soft and buttered. I didn't taste much 'seasoning' it was well 'flavored' and covered in oregano (?) I would return. It's a cute little spot that is in the basement of a building. I didn't go in, I know the area well. Next to Sofitel. Hard to find parking

But, on…read morethe multi-festival Saturday, second of May in the year 2026, I can definitively say that I've now tried the little seafood spot on one of our favorite corners, that we're almost always just passing by to get to Time. First, the friendly, informative service: in an oyster bar with a rotating fresh selection, that's an underrated must. We were seated outside, given a rundown of the menu and "as it's ready" flow of the kitchen. We got a pair of cocktails, the Melonata and a Tequila Julep. I think the Melonata might be my new summer favorite. It looks like Ecto Cooler but doesn't give a distinct feeling of growing diabetes while drinking it. In grown up terms, it was well balanced, not too sour, not too sweet, and deeply herbal, fruity, and refreshing at the same time. The Tequila Julep was a Mint Julep with tequila instead of bourbon. It was good, though it's hard to mess that set of ingredients up. We got a selection of oysters and a shooter. Every oyster was distinct and different. Felt like there were no "different on the menu but same in flavor profile" that you can sometimes run into. This implies it's well curated. I have no idea, because I'm not an expert fishmonger, nor do I know whether that term specifically applies here - case in point. Anyway, I got 2 from Washington State, and another from Cape May. The first WA was large, buttery, and had the satisfying chew of young coconut flesh. Semi sweet. The second was smaller, sharper, and briny as hell - tasted of the ocean. And finally, the Cape May was mild and fresh, a good balance between the two others. It was a perfect little tasting menu that I'd created by just ordering the first three guys off the list. Not sure what selection came with the shooter, but the concoction in the shot glass shooter was bright green and pickly. Glad I got it as a contrast to the classics with what I assumed was red wine vinegar. Besides that, we snacked on salmon avocado toast with the Calabrian Chili Oil. It was also very, very good. Sometimes things are better than the sum of their parts. This is true here, but it's also worth noting that the individual parts - the bread, the smoked salmon, the chili oil, the avocado, the shaved onions - were excellent in their own right. We will be back for sure.
