    The "not saimin" saimin
    Steve G.

Came around 12:15 and there was no one here. Not a good sign. Wife wanted Hawaiian so went ahead and ordered. While I was waiting about 15 minutes a couple of take orders came but no one else came to eat in. Chicken Katsu Saimin - DO NOT GET THIS. The chicken katsu was tender and plenty of veggies. The problem is the "saimin" was not Hawaiian saim but rather like spahgetti you can get at Safeway. 2*. Terrible. Chicken Kastu Mini Plate - Harder to screw up a rice plate. Again, the katsu was fine. 3* Loco Moco Mini - Mostly OK except no gravy. wtf. Loco Moco and gravy?!? Sacrilegious!!! 2* It's convenient. Now I know why nobody eats here.

Food was yummy and just what we needed for the post dog wash next door (pet express). I just wish they gave more of the cold macaroni salad, it's so good! Veggies are extra and I wish I could swap the rice for veggies without it being extra.

The salmon had no season and it's over cooked and dry, the rice is made correctly the macaroni salad has no flavor or seasoning it tastes like off brand mayo and it's watery a little bit. Super nasty, the "salmon" is super then doesn't even taste like salmon. Should've known when it wasn't a single soul coming in or out. The place was really dark on the inside I wouldn't recommend to anyone infinity 0 out of 10 would never recommend. And we order extra Mac salad on the side. The other plate isn't in the picture

Well, I don't usually eat Hawaiian BBQ, but I wanted to give "Ohana Hawaiian BBQ" another try after my fair experience at another location. So I was in the area of Alameda's Nobhill Shopping Center, and decided to get takeout from the Ohana place there. I was there during the most ideal time.....just before lunch. Oh yes, that special time when everything is fresh and well stocked. Usually the best people are working. I got the "Chicken Combo," with 2 scoops of Mac salad, and 1 rice. How was it? It was very good The Chicken Combo was listed as 1/2 Chicken Katsu and 1/2 BBQ Chicken. Well, that's not what I got, but I'm not complaining. I got served 2/3 chicken katsu and 1/3 BBQ Chicken. That boneless fried chicken was hot, moist, and very crispy. OMG, it was good! They put a big slab of Katsu on top of the Mac Salad. The BBQ Chicken was okay. Good flavor, not salty. Hot, but a little dry. I think that's why they served me more chicken katsu. The Macaroni salad had good flavor, and tasted as it should. The white rice was just clumps, not fluffy and not steaming hot. Hmm, I think I'm addicted to that crispy chicken katsu. Next time, I'm just ordering that. Ohana Hawaiian BBQ in Alameda, CA is located in the Nobhill Shopping Center next to the Fruitvale Bridge. The shopping center is at Blanding Ave & Tilden Way. Free Parking

Terrible food ! I buy food , i'm not buy trash ! Do they care about their business :(

    Black char from burnt hamburger.

Burnt food. I DoorDash most days for lunch and this was one of the poorest food qualities I've experienced and I would like to warn others. The burnt char rubbed off on the rice the salad, and sides of the container. Not safe to eat. Why send out food like this?

Surf and Turf Combo - Everything tasted dry and overcooked :/

Nope. This ain't it. Serving me inedible food, are we?! You gets one star! My employee and I were craving for Hawaiian food a few months back, so we decided to Doordash this place for lunch. I've been eating at Ohana Pleasant Hill for years and I love the food from that location. I'm here to tell you that there IS a difference. Not all Ohana Hawaiian Grills are the same, and this one clearly missed the mark. The food that we received from this location in Alameda was simply repulsive. I ordered the surf and turf combo with fried shrimp, fried fish, bbq beef and all veggies while my employee ordered the fried shrimp plate with mac salad. First of all, these fools forgot the bbq sauce. How the faaaack do you forget the MAIN ingredient for your meats?! I wouldn't be trippin' so bad if the food was actually good, but this sh!t needed that bbq sauce BADLY! It was dry AF! Both the shrimp and fish were clearly over fried. The bbq beef was 80% fat and 20% beef. The veggies tasted like they came from one of those frozen bags in the freezer section of the grocery store. Nothing was fresh. Nothing was good. I'm honestly appalled. How can anyone even fix themselves to serve this to a human?! Hell, even the dogs ain't f-ckin' wit it. Whoever is cooking up this junk needs to be slapped. Better yet, they should try it themselves. I'm sure that alone will already be a slap in the face. The crazy part is, this place has been in business for at least 15 years. I'm sure at some point it might have been better, but their latest reviews are telling some serious horror stories. Now riddle me this: How are great restaurants closing up shop at the flip of a dime, but places like this are still thriving and staying in business? I don't get it. It's perplexing. But what I do know is that I won't be subjecting my intestines to this crap ever again.

I ordered a Fish Sandwich through Doordash, and the buns were BURNT! It's going into the trash can. I got a refund from Doordash, but what an absolute waste of my time.

    BBQ Short Rib *BURNT*

Ordered through DoorDash. The short ribs were SO burnt! What a waste. It looked burnt, it smelled burnt, then I had a bite & they were definitely BURNT.

First off, we called ahead to make sure they had fresh crawfish over the phone they said it was in season and fresh. When we got there we confirmed with the waitress again and she said it was fresh but it was not only frozen but borderline inedible and I'm shocked they served something that was essentially rotting from the inside out. The inside was BLACK and soggy!! Chinese all you can eat buffets have better quality than this. It was actually so bad I couldn't even continue eating it. The price was atrocious for that as well ($25 for 1lb, $22 for half). Service was just as bad. The two waitresses seemed like they hated being there and took forever to get us menus, took even longer to take our order and she just sat behind the counter and ate instead of bringing us water or utensils. They never once came back to check in on us after dropping the food off. The catfish was BLAND despite it looking seasoned which was shocking and the short ribs looked and tasted boiled as you can see in the photo. Just overall horrible quality. I'm actually sad about this spot! Just moved to the east bay from sf and it looked promising. Just was an unfortunate disappointment.

I'm used to sushi rice being at room temperature or slightly cooled, not hot and fresh from the rice pot. This was disappointing as it started to cook my raw fish and tamago.
