Where do we even begin. We're in LOVE with Oh Hello Dog. Janet, Lisa and the entire OHD team are simply amazing. They genuinely love and care for each dog!!! We needed a place where we can trust our skittish and anxious rescue dog with. We also wanted her to have more opportunities for healthy socialization. After looking up dog daycare in our area, we decided to check out OHD due to all the 5/5 reviews on Yelp. We first had a phone call where Janet explained their program. She then helped us schedule an intake evaluation appointment. We were honestly so nervous. But our little Bella passed the evaluation and was accepted to the transition daycare program! The transition program is designed to help dogs who need more support to transition into the group play area. Some dogs are immediately accepted into group play. Lisa and Janet knew exactly what Bella needed in order to successfully transition to being with a larger group of different personalities. They are extremely knowledgeable about dog behavior. What we appreciate about this daycare is not only the quality of program and the people who work here, but also their strict policies. Every dog has to pass their evaluation in order to be admitted to the daycare. They also require all dogs to be vaccinated, including annual canine influenza vaccine. Not only that, but dogs who were sick cannot come to daycare for 30 days to protect other dogs from getting sick (jussst in case!). The pricing is also reasonable compared to other daycares in the area. It's been about four months since Bella began attending OHD and we have only had positive experiences so far. We also noticed improvement in her behavior. She used to often bark at other dogs out of fear, but we rarely observe that now. She is so much more comfortable around other dogs. She also walks into the daycare by herself without having to be carried. Overall, we are so glad we found OHD for our Bella and we recommend it with 1000% confidence! read more

Ok so one thing the reviews don't mention enough of is the absolutely flawless decoration and celebration skills. I know what you're thinking...what does this have to do with my dog? First of all, it deserves to be mentioned. Secondly, it helps to create a fun and family-like environment which is what you want for your borky baby. May the Fourth (iykyk), Pride, Halloween, Día de los Muertos, Lunar New Year, Valentine's Day, some things I'm probably/definitely missing, and Christmas...including red and green leashes hanging on the fence...the details!!! And options for birthday pawties for your pup if you so choose. Yes, charcuteries for dogs. Yes, you need that. And you get to watch it all unfold in painfully cute stories and posts on Instagram. Ok so onto the pup part. I went with a Pitbull who was so afraid of people she'd hide from them. Apparently that is a combination of things that can happen. Also very bad at hiding a 60lb body so just sad all around. She failed her initial evaluation and rightfully. Whoops. We worked on her confidence and her trust and then she did the transitional program and almost a year later remains a regular. It used to take her weeks (yup, I said weeks) to warm up to new people and now it takes about 30 mins. OHD helps give her structure, routine and boundaries that have taught her how to regulate her excitement with other dogs so much better than she did before. Because shy girl is also a crazy energetic girl. A real enigma. And wait there's more...I recently had a baby and everyone has been so kind, giving, flexible and understanding both with me and my pup. I drive from Pasadena to take my dog to OHD and I wouldn't take her anywhere else. They're the best. Down to the tiniest of details. Been here 3 times so far. My baby always comes back super tired and hungry! I think he really loves it here. After my husband moved to LA, we have been fortunate enough to stay home all day, everyday. Unfortunately our dog has been at home with us all day & everyday for over a year as well. Our dog seemed too bored so we started taking him to the dog park, then I read about the canine flu/diseases spreading in LA. We wanted a safer & cleaner place for him to have fun & socialize. At Oh Hello Dog, all dogs are required to have up-to-date vaccinations. He has been with dog sitters when he lived in NY. He has been to daycare & boarding when he lived in Pittsburgh. But I was still a little scared about the evaluation process because some of the reviews made it sound so intense. I felt like a proud parent when he passed the evaluation. Oh Hello Dog has the cleanest lobby we have ever experienced. Doggy daycare places usually have a distinct smell as soon as you walk in, not this place. Our dog does not stink when coming back from daycare either! I love that they have someone watching the dogs 24/7. I do wish that they have live streaming webcams like other daycare places, but I can also understand why they don't have webcams. I have yet to board our dog here, but I will probably consider paying for videos/photo updates. Location wise, it is a bit of a drive from Pasadena, but anything for my dog's happiness. This place is located right across from the produce market (which most people know it as where Smorgasburg opens on Sundays). This area is super busy on weekdays from 2-3am to noon-ish. At night this area turns into a ghost town. Pretty scary when I picked him up before closing hours on a weekend. I recommend picking your dog up before it gets too dark. read more

They are above and beyond a daycare. They are life! Janet and Lisa are so smart, so caring and really strive to meet your dogs needs. They are also extremely conscientious about how dogs socialize. My dog wasn't ready to just jump in and they suggested their Transitional Daycare Program. It was training she needed to make so many adjustments not just there but everywhere. And her training and needs continue to be met every time she is there. She takes naps and time alone when she needs it. With this attention to every dog they are able to have a fully balanced place for your pup to go. Every dog is able to have a successful day of play and fulfillment. I so respect that when my dog isn't doing her best they not only let me know, they give her the time to be alone and regroup. And overnight care is an amazing experience. They don't let any dog show up. They are dogs that are part of the OHD day to day pack. My dog needs a bit more structure so she crates alone but she could easily sleep with the group if it was right. They cater the stays as well. fetch session, lick mat or extra cuddles.. Being new to LA we were unsure of who to trust our puppy with and here we are two years later so certain that OHD is hands down the very best doggy day care. Every single team member at OHD is kind, patient, knowledgeable and genuinely attentive to our dog and us humans. They know my dog's preferences to eat (just the right ratio), play, who his besties are and when it's time to give him a break. They've taught my dog to listen, respect other dogs and people's space, know to read the room and stay safe inside and outside OHD. It almost seems like they have a curriculum and the structure of a school which should not surprise anyone given Janet, the founder of OHD was once a school teacher and principal. Yup, that's the caliber of this place. Learning to be the best dog while having fun! Thank goodness OHD's rates are very reasonable because that's allowed us to create a routine which makes it so much easier to go to work knowing our dog is hanging out with his besties and being fed just the way his picky self desires. When things suddenly come up OHD is also super responsive to accommodate reservations. Can't even say how many times they've saved my days. Use their app and boom someone actually responds to your emails within minutes. Can't even express how much I appreciate that. TRULY. Specially when we've been overseas and our dog is boarding there and flights are delayed. Speaking of which, I would not trust my dog to anyone but OHD if I'm going to be away. These are just facts: my dog is the pickiest eater with the most sensitive stomach; however, he eats well and he's never gotten sick while boarding at OHD; his belly is as stable as it can be. One last thing, I hear people not liking that OHD doesn't have a live camera. My question is why would you need a boring static camera with low resolution if you can follow them on Instagram? Their account is so genius that it's almost therapeutic. You laugh but please go visit their account and you'll see what I'm saying. The process of getting your dog vetted is no joke. They take pride in the safety of all the dogs and I respect that so much. Yes, your dog should listen even when in groups of dogs due to safety. How to get started: send an email to Oh Hello Dog, the owner, Janet, is prompt about setting up evaluations and it's easy to send over vaccination documents on their portal. parking: Private lot in between Diaz Produce and Oh Hello Dog. Ambiance: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. NO DOG SMELL. I was impressed with the sanitation considering they do boarding and day care. That was a green flag. Cairo, my 12 year old Siberian Husky unfortunately did not pass the evaluation. But Lisa, the person who did our evaluation was extremely helpful in offering solutions. They said we were welcome for boarding, but would need socialization improvements for daycare (which is a honest evaluation!) We are going to work on his dog-to-dog socialization and come back and try again. I appreciate the thought and care that goes into the process. I am beyond grateful to have came across OHD! My 2 year old pug is very anxious and nervous around other dogs off leash and reactive on leash. When I took her to OHD during her evaluation I was recommended a transition program for Nala and I had never heard of that at any other daycare. She did 8 sessions and on her own felt more confident with other doggies around her. Didn't think she would come around as I had tried many things. I would receive a report card after every session of her progress and pictures once a week. OHD has been a blessing and now when I drop her off for regular daycare I feel at ease she is in great hands. She recently had an overnight and the next morning I received an update on how she did and I was so glad she did great. I highly recommend giving OHD family a try. read more

I have only left my dog here for day care. My main issue is that they don't have a webcam. Instead, they offer sending you a video clip which costs $25.00. I want to be able to see my dog at any point, and not just when they stop and take a quick video at a certain point in time. I would even feel better if they had a window, looking into the play area, so I could watch her for a bit when I drop her off. But there is no way to see inside at all. The other negative is the incredibly dicey neighborhood this is in. During the day light savings time, at least I don't have to pick her up in the dark; but otherwise, I would never feel comfortable being in that area late at night. When I dropped my dog off one morning, there were a bunch of guys fighting on the sidewalk. Also, the sidewalk right near their entrance, is usually covered with garbage. The people who work there are great, but sadly I am looking for another place where there are at least webcams and is in a better neighborhood. read more

My dog had an evaluation with Oh Hello Dog yesterday and he failed - understandably as he's a very sweet and happy 1 year old poodle mix puppy we adopted from the pound a couple of months ago and his social skills and his impulse control are lacking. We're diligently working on these things with him but we recognize his exuberance. The place itself is clean, they're organized and they really make sure that the dogs are up to date on their vaccinations, and that behaviorally they are trained well. All these things are positive things in my book! My frustration, and why I'm giving them 3 stars is, if your dog isn't an already well behaved dog, you're out of luck and they don't give you any options. They basically told us do some more work and come back for a new evaluation. We were looking for a more partnered approach and they didn't have it outside their narrow criteria and lane. Anyway, undaunted, the next day we took our dog to another doggie day care with the same standards and protocols (we like, want and appreciate these standards and protocols). This time we had a completely different and very positive experience. First, the new doggie daycare has screens you can watch to see what you dog does during the evaluation. Oh Hello Dog does not have that - your dog disappears and you get the evaluation told to you an hour or so after when they hand you your dog. This other doggie daycare offered us training and packages to help our dog up his behavioral skills to be able to attend daycare - which we took them up on! The trainer is great and he gave us tips and we have a plan. This was the kind of partnership we were looking for. Oh Hello Dog does not have any of that. In fact, when we asked about trainers and other suggestions they were not helpful. In my opinion they're leaving money on the table by not offering something for those who have dogs that need a little more training. Speaking of money, the daycare and boarding prices of this new place is much better and more affordable than Oh Hello Dog's. If your dog already has their obedience skills down, I'm sure Oh Hello Dog is probably great. If, however, you have a dog that is young or younger and is learning how to be a good dog citizen, they won't let your dog in and they won't have a lot of options for you. read more

I have lived in many cities around the country and have never come across a place as wonderful as Oh Hello Dog. Every place will tell you that they will treat your dog as their own, but the employees at Oh Hello Dog will treat your dogs like their own child. I have never come across a boarding place that will have someone sleep over with the dogs at night (great for my George loves to cuddle). Also, whoever is in charge of their social media is an absolute genius and even when my dog is not visiting I still watch to boost my endorphins. All the extras they provide just proves they go above and beyond your average doggy day care. Somehow they are the only people to get great pictures of my completely unphotogenic dog. They did Pride photos in June, adorable birthday celebrations with a charcuterie board for your pup, and somehow got a painting on Valentine's day made by my dog (see pictures). I was so sad when we moved from DTLA to West Hollywood, it just meant a longer drive to the best doggy daycare (no way I was going to leave you guys). Janet, Lisa and the OHD team are the most caring and thoughtful dog lovers out there. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I trust OHD with my dog just as much as (and probably more than) my family. My pup Matty was an OG at OHD and I was bringing her in regularly since 2018. Sadly, she passed away early 2023 and the outpouring of heartfelt support from OHD was unbelievable. The OHD team cares for every dog as if it was their own. After a year of grieving, I adopted another rescue, Bella, and I immediately brought her to OHD. Although it doesn't change the past, I'm looking forward to Bella spending time at OHD daycare regularly. Why? Because the dogs get socialized, loved, exercised and grow confidence. Spoiler alert: The rave reviews are well-deserved! In the past, my husband and I rarely traveled because we weren't comfortable leaving our dogs with anyone other than family or one highly trusted pet sitter. When we rescued our new pug we wanted to do things differently, but had a difficult time finding someone in Los Angeles whom we felt would watch and care for our little guy the same way we would. After having a terrible experience with a pet sitter (we had to fly home after 24 hours away because the woman decided she no longer could watch our dog), we decided to check out Oh Hello Dog. My husband and I work from home, so we knew that we didn't need a full-time daycare. But we wanted Nigel to remain socialized (we were taking him to the dog park, but the lack of supervision and vetting of temperaments made us nervous to continue) and we really wanted a safe place where we could board him when we traveled. (We were determined to travel this time around!) After Nigel's evaluation it was determined that he needed a few sessions in the transitional daycare program. He needed to learn about respecting personal space, but didn't require a lot of extra time to do so. He aced his program, donned his graduation cap and was ready to join the pack. Nigel happily attends daycare a couple of times a month and last month he boarded for nine nights. He was exhausted when we brought him home, but we know he was extremely well cared for while we were away. Janet, Lisa and the entire crew at OHD are clearly animal lovers - but they are also professionals. And this is what makes the difference. We knew Nigel would be supervised. We knew Nigel would be safe. We knew he was having FUN. And most important, we knew he would be watched, cared for and loved in a way that made it possible for us to travel without worrying. And because of that, we will continue to drive (usually 40-minutes both ways) to OHD. The peace of mind is priceless. We got a dog during the pandemic, and it's the best thing that happened to us in 2020. However, there are days when we can't watch our dog because of back to back meetings and super packed days...so we started looking for dog daycare. We first took our pup to K-9 Loft in Echo Park and we saw our worst dog-parents fears come true... in the live feed we saw Kevin go to the corner and hide under an obstacle...And there he stayed for the next 7 hours. That was heartbreaking to watch. Luckily, we stumbled upon OHD's instagram feed and saw how much the staff interacted and loved on all the dogs. And we are so glad that we did! Our pup was definitely nervous, but we knew he was in good hands and by the 3rd day, he went in to daycare wagging his tail and not looking back. I absolutely love bringing my dog to Oh Hello Dog! I have an 11 month corgi and she's super energetic and playful--sometimes too much, which makes us nervous because some dogs might not take that lightly. In addition, we've never put her in daycare before so we were definitely concerned about leaving her alone in a strange place for too long. However, after a lot of searching on yelp and testing out a few daycare facilities, my partner and I made the right decision by booking our first daycare experience here. Janet, the owner, was super helpful in explaining the whole process and made our dog feel very welcome! Luckily, our puppy passed her initial assessment and were able to connect with the other dogs there. We left on our 3 weeks long vacation knowing that she was going to have tons of fun. Even though OHD doesn't have a live cam, they often send us videos on instagram, which makes us very happy! After the first initial experience, we've loved it there so much that we continue to bring her there whenever we have a busy weekend. I would like to think that bringing her to OHD is like letting her to on her own puppy vacation--partying with other dogs and socializing without the parents ;) I personally like the location of this facility because it has a big parking lot and it's easy to get to. OHD is great! We just picked up our 2 pugs after an 8 day stay during Spring Break and we (and they) couldn't be happier. I heard about OHD from @dogcafela and after utilizing another dog boarding place (which was nice but really expensive), we decided to give women owned OHD a try after reading all of the fabulous reviews. All of the reviews are correct - Janet and Lisa (and their fab employee, Vee) have a place that loves dogs and the dogs love them back! Yes, OHD's Instagram feed is precious but the staff at OHD are also detail oriented, communicative and really care for your pups when they can't be with you. Where do I start?!? I mean it's as though I stepped into a 5 star, Michelin rated, a wonderful place made from the dog heaven sent right here in the heart of DTLA!!!! AMAZING is not a strong enough word: from daycare to weeklong boarding, Oh Hello Dog has supported us and our special needs dog Charlie from the beginning! From quick response times to all our questions to guiding us through the very sensible but specific process to make sure the dogs are in the right situation for them, it's easy to see that Oh Hello Dog has the great combination of knowledge, care, and ability that is necessary to effectively care for dogs. They are invested in the dogs to make sure they are well taken care of beyond just giving them a place to stay. Our dog Charlie has special needs: he is deaf and has a ton of health issues that can make taking care of him difficult. From constantly changing medications for health to managing his social anxieties on top of him not being able to hear normal commands, we do not trust many people with Charlie, but Janet, Lisa, and the rest of the staff have shown they are more than capable of looking after Charlie. When Charlie is doing well they tell us and celebrate with us; when Charlie is struggling, they help manage him and tell us how they are problem-solving with Charlie to make sure he and the other dogs are okay. And on top of that they always respond quickly and administer his medications when he has to stay. Every stay is accompanied with updates on how he is doing, and their INSTAGRAM IS THE BEST! I found this dog daycare on Instagram and thought I'd check it out for my dog. I like that it's cagefree. My dog had to pass a temperament test to make sure she is a good fit for playing with a bunch of dogs off leash. I knew she'd pass, but it's good to know everyone else has to pass too. The owner is super cool and answered all my questions. My pup will be coming here a couple times a week for daycare and I'm glad I have a solid place for boarding in downtown Los Angeles. After trying several doggy daycares in our vicinity, and ending up with either a FILTHY dog, or cuts on her face, or having them drag her by her collar when they think we arent looking, or her having such a bad skin allergy that the Vet almost shaved her completely, or the employees carrying water bottles to spray the dogs in the face when they felt they were misbehaving, we were saved by Oh Hello Dog. (DM me if you would like to know the name of these locations). I cant gush enough about how much we love Oh Hello Dog and every employee that works there. Its not easy finding a daycare to care for your beloved child when you arent able to but Janet and the staff really answered our prayers. Not only do they watch the dogs, but they really spend the time to play with the dogs NONSTOP. The staff there genuinely LOVE and CARE for the dogs as if they were their own. Katsu comes home exhausted from a day of nonstop playing with her friends and the staff. We havent had any problems with her skin since having moved her to a new daycare, they are diligent about ensuring all the dogs are up to date on vaccinations and check to see if the dogs are on flea medication (thank goodness!). But not only do we send her for daycare, but we've also boarded her there. They do not isolate the dogs (but they can if you request it), but they pull out mattresses and the staff actually sleep in the play area with the dogs. We were very hesitant to leave her there overnight at first but because we trusted them so much for daycare, we gave it a shot and felt very good about who we had left Katsu with. Amazing facilities and staff! We have a 3 year old Catahoula rescue who can be fearful and skittish. I trust so few people with him (let alone boarding/daycare facilities) but we confidentially bring him to OHD for daycare and boarding. The staff is so attentive, kind, and always gives the best updates on what he did that day. The facilities are incredible - he comes home totally happy and exhausted from playing all day with the other pups and staff. Plus, they do baths, nails, training, etc. so it's an easy one stop if you need it. Not to mention the hours are incredible (I've never been to a daycare with such extended hours), and parking is super easy. Overall, I love bringing B to OHD but probably not as much as he loves going there :) read more

Great staff. Our dog loves it here. Animals tested to make sure they can handle socializing. Add ons like puzzles and training times. And their social media account is the best thing on IG. Big plus: free parking lot. In the area, it's really hard to come by something that allows for convenient drop-offs. That should be worth another star in it of itself. read more

I brought my Shiba Inu here for a temperament test last fall. She was around 8 months at the time and I was looking for a daycare near the DTLA area that we could take her to. I had just come back from Europe for 2 weeks and the boarding place I used loved her and said she was so well behaved and got along with everyone. My fiance and I arrived at Oh Hello Dog and we were welcomed beforehand by the business owner on Instagram when I said I wanted to stop by for a temperament test. When I got arrived at the front desk, a woman was there and mentioned she'd be the one to assist us that day. We all went in with big smiles on our faces, only to be given a short, curt response as she took our dog to the back. We didn't think anything of it and thought, maybe she was just tired that morning, and went to go run errands for an hour or two as our pup got her temperament test. When we went back to pick our dog up, the woman immediately started asking if I was aware of our dog's current diarrhea issue. I responded that I was aware, and explained that she was likely nervous from the car ride since it took us about an hour to drive to DT. Then she proceeded to go off about our Shiba's bratty stubbornness, unwillingness to sit on her first command, and non 100% recall in the play area. She mentioned that the facility needed and expected well trained and obedient dogs for their daycare's safety. After we listened to her pretty much bash and complain about our puppy, she then said that our pup still passed the temperament test and was welcome to come to their daycare. My fiance and I were both REALLY confused and did not feel comfortable anymore with leaving our baby there in the future. I would like to add that I wouldn't mind if they just said our Shiba didn't pass their temperament test and be done with it. But to complain about her and her "lack of obedience", I want to say that if anyone has ever had experience with 1) an adolescent dog and 2) a SHIBA INU, they would understand that it is not in that dog's nature to listen automatically and 100% to a complete stranger. And if that was a requirement for all dogs, why did they say ours still ended up passing the temperament test? If a dog daycare needs to rely on 100% recall for the safety of their dogs, literally anyone can be a dog daycare attendant! Just call the dogs name and they will come, whether or not you are their owner.. My Shiba is now a year and a half year old and every daycare she has been to since she was a puppy for temperament testing has gushed about how good she is and well socialized. Oh Hello Dog is a well kept, clean facility- and it may be good for other people's dogs, but it is not for us. read more

We love hello dog and so does our dog finn! He gets so excited to go and absolutely loves it. We visited many other dog daycares in dtla and were leery about the other sites we visited. Oh hello dog genuinely cares AND LOVE DOGS AND THEIR JOBS. AThey have multiple celebration/holidays for the dogs, and are extremely thoughtful with making our little pups feel special. We never even hesitate to go on vacation because we know Finn is well taken care and overall, living his best life when we are gone. We both work from home but drop our dog off often just cause he enjoys it so much. When we mention oh hello dog, his ears perk up and back and hes over the moon!! We have been taking him since he was baby (6 months) and he is the most socialized, playful, happy pup. Thank you so much Oh hello dog for giving our Finn dog a second home. read more

Janet and Lisa are true dog whispers!! Finding Oh Hello Dog was a god send after some awful experiences with "independent" dog sitters (don't fall for those dog sitter apps, they're amateurs!). After only 1 full daycare day and 1 night of boarding I already feel and see a huge difference with my 2 year old shorkie's separation anxiety and a huge drop in how aggressive his initial hellos are when meeting new people and dogs! You can tell that everyone that works there enjoys being there and what they do. They're overnight boarding prices and policies are unbeatable. You're able to drop off the pup as early as they open the day of boarding in order for said doggo to get maximum play time in a cage free play area and sleeping area, which for me as an event planner who works long hours is priceless. OH HELLO DOG IS THE BEST!!! I rescued a dog during the pandemic, and was worried about taking her to doggie daycare for the first time. They were so friendly and attentive with the evaluation, and my dog has really come out of her shell after spending time there. She gets really excited when we pull up at the front door. I love that they offer treats for purchase during the day, because my dog is a grazer who usually eats at weird times. And if you aren't following them on instagram, you're missing out on some seriously good dog content. read more

We used their boarding services for our fur kids Pebbles & Bam Bam on two separate occasions and I am very happy with my experience in both instances. They really LOVE dogs and it is very apparent. Their vetting process is pretty extensive, but it's for the better and it makes sure that your pets are a good fit for their facility. This will be my dogs' boarding spot moving forward. Oh Hello Dog is a fantastic doggy daycare facility. I can't begin to sing their praises enough. My dog is a rescue and as such can be a difficult dog to deal with due to the anxieties that are inherent in a rescue. I'm new to LA and didn't think having a big dog would be soooo challenging. From apartment complexes having weight/size restrictions, to salons and daycares not wanting to bathe or keep my baby simply because she weighs nearly 100lbs. Finding OHD was a blessing. They don't discriminate on size and are lovely all around. I got multiple calls during my pup's orientation and picked up a super happy Pup. Gray loves everyone there and can't wait to go back.
