Why did I go to the OG Dumpling House on the Blvd.? Because I read great Yelp reviews for the Rochester location and made a destination drive there back in March '24 searching for outstanding dumplings (at that time yet to be found in WNY). In the process, I learned from our "passionate about the business" server that a "Buffalo location would be opening in the Spring". Being a first timer at the Rochester location, the overall experience was impressive (Impressive food taste and texture, impressive personalized restaurant service, impressive clean and modern surroundings). As a result, I couldn't wait for the Buffalo location to open; it took several months longer than planned for that to happen. Was it worth the wait? Hmmm.....the bar was set high based on the Rochester experience. Was BUFFALO outstanding? No. Sadly, this Buffalo experience was underwhelming. JUST AVERAGE, nothing special. Food was good but not great. Service was mechanical. Nice job repurposing the old Pizza Hut building to represent the look and feel of Rochester. Will I be back? The food and service were both good. One entree out of the two came before our tea and the appetizer. It was cold in the place (for a 65 degree day) and the AC was blowing on us- the waiter did turn it off. The overall experience was good, though I thought the food was a bit bland. When I first arrived here it was an old Pizza Hut and it was weird how there were photos of food and half of them are not saying what food was and you can't see inside. I walk in side and it was really tight and a bit dirty so I asked for a table and I was told "Just sit wherever" and the lady didn't even look at me. So I sit down and order the dumplings with pork and vegetables. The dumplings were poorly made and the dough was too tough but it was good. So I recommend it but if you're looking for an amazing meal maybe different places. read more

This place seems to be massively popular, every time I've been here it was packed, unlike its predecessors, most notably Mandarin Garden. I'm not sure why, as the fare doesn't seem to be THAT different (this isn't just a dumpling house, it's more a general chinese place), aside from not having a couple of Mandarin Garden's dishes, most notably the pistachio coppa for desert. However, it's quite clean, the servers are young and attentive, and I suppose easy-to-get dumplings are a prize, so perhaps that explains its popularity. In terms of price, it's a little above middle of the road, for instance 8 dumplings at Golden Hill cost around 8 dollars while 7 of the same kind (pork) or 8 of chicken cost 9 (as of 2024). But the quality is very good and I suppose the price can be justified by the place specializing in dumplings. I'd certainly come here more often if I lived in the area, but as it stands I'll certainly try to hit it up whenever I go through Niagara Falls Boulevard to get to Best Buy or Barnes and Nobles-I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could, but to be generous I'll round it up to 5. read more

I like how fast we was greeted and could choice were we wanted to be seated. I ended up here because they had bbq pork bun. It was delicious and fresh. The place is clean and waitress I had was very friendly and fast in getting our order and refilling our water cups. I will come back again as I want to try more of their menu. read more

It was a Friday night and very busy, waited for a short time. Wait staff was very pleasant and helped my party decide what type of dumplings were what we would like. A few in the party had never had dumplings before and one had no clue what to do with chopsticks so our server brought out some forks. My niece loved the whole experience and the green tea. When we left she asked when can we go back lol. Crab Rangoon was amazing! Pork and Napa (cabbage) was very good as well. The Bao was very good, like a fluffy ball of goodness. It's at an old Pizza Hut and the only thing you can tell on the inside is the iconic windows. But the restaurant tries to make the space feel newer and brighter. Overall experience was excellent! Let me start off by saying - this place was hopping - whether it was dine in or to-go - it was almost impossible to find parking at 5:30pm on a Saturday. Once I arrived, I sat down (my friend was there before me) and took a minute to look at the menu - it was very extensive and a lot of different foods to choose from. I got the scallion pancakes, chicken and cabbage dumplings, and the crispy chicken with spicy teriyaki. The server was awesome and efficient. Our food arrived quickly and truth be told, my order was only ok. I wasn't really blown away by anything - the scallion pancakes were kind of bland as were the dumplings. The sauces that accompanied each were lackluster. The crispy chicken with spicy teriyaki was a generous portion of food, however, I am still trying to figure out why they call it spicy - it lacked sauce and spice. Food is subpar. Fried pancake is small and overcooked. Dumping both steamed and fried is not tasty- even frozen supermarket dumplings are much better. The skin of xiao long boa is too thick, not enough soup. The only good food is the sesame balls. The service and ambience are good. read more

I've gotten takeout here a couple of times now and everything I've tried has been great. The pork dumplings had a generous amount of filling and the dipping sauce was tasty. The crab rangoon was some of the best I've ever had. The broth with the dan dan noodles was very flavorful and had just enough spice. The pork fried rice and general tso's chicken were also very good. When I picked up my orders I was also impressed with how they redid the building. I hadn't been inside since it was a Pizza Hut, but it looks totally different now and they did a nice job with it. My food was also ready in 15-20 minutes each time even with the restaurant being completely full inside. This will definitely be a regular place in my takeout rotation and I look forward to eating in as well. read more

Very clean interior with a lovely decor. The staf was friendly and polite and welcoming. Food was fantastic, although i did not order much, the dumpling where hand made and VERY good, I cant wait to go back and try basically everything on the menu cus all the other customers were going "oooo.....ahhhhh!!!!" One couple even gave eachother that dumbass look you see on commercials where they are both super immpressed and thier eyebrows are raised and everything, so i knew right then the noodles must be fire. This place is meh. I got three different types of dumplings and they were all very bland. One was supposed to be pan fried and it had one slightly browned side but other than that it was mushy. My boyfriend got spicy beef noodles and they were also bland and soggy. Crab Rangoon was very tasty as was the general tso's chicken but I was so disappointed to pay $100 for a bunch of bland dumplings when the place is called "og dumpling house." Being Chinese, coming from NYC and having frequently travelled to Hong Kong and China I've been privileged to have had some great dim sum and dumplings. This is not the case here. Opened recently, it's in an old Pizza Hut. We were excited to try this place, but, it was a disappointment. We came on a Saturday at about 2:00pm at the end of the lunch hour. It was busy and the wait was short for a table for 2. The shumai was "fishy" tasting. We were expecting either pork or beef. The beef wide rice noodle ("ho fun") was greasy and the beef was nothing special neither in quality or quantity. It needed to be pan "fried" a little more. We've had better beef ho fun at Eastern Pearl nearby down Maple Road. The shrimp dumpling ("har gow") was tasteless and a bit gummy. The BBQ pork buns were doughy. Nothing seemed fresh. Like other local Chinese restaurants, they may buy it FROZEN from a food distributor. Possibly, they get it from their Rochester location. Either way, we probably won't go back, especially not for $50 for two including tax and tip. We could get 3X the food with better quality buying it frozen at the Asia Market down Niagara Falls Blvd in the Home Depot Plaza. Service was good and overall clean. The overhead lights were cute. Front of the house staff are mostly, if not all, younger Asians. For the non-Asian lady who said to me, "Great food", on her way out, I can't help to think to myself, she doesn't know what good Chinese dim sum and dumplings are...too bad...taste buds are a terrible thing to waste. \ read more

I had a bowl of peanut noodles with shrimp. The noodles seemed like they were boiled several times rendering the noodles flavorless and mushy. The saving grace was that the shrimp was cooked well. I left the entire bowl of noodles and sauce. Also had their house dumplings and found them to be unremarkable. Cannot recommend. Service was good but not the food. For great dumplings go instead to Peking Quick One on Somerville Ave. or China Taste on Sweet Home Road. read more
