Second time that I have put in an online order for cases of printer paper for curbside pickup. Alerted the store on my arrival both times by the email instructions and no one came out so I went in and was told by the man working (believe he was the manager) that online orders were over against the wall and I could go get it there. When I told him I could not lift the cases he told his women employees to go carry them to my car. Same man used to always bring my cases of paper out as soon as I arrived for my curbside order. At the very least give your ladies a handcart and don't offer curbside pickup if you aren't going to respond to your notifications! read more

Jonathan Lambert, print manager/asst manager was so helpful today! I couldn't figure out how to send the files to be printed via the website. Ever patient, he helped me get a non-pdf file from my laptop to him and printed double sided bookmarks perfectly. He also went out of his way to assist with another project printing and cutting. I visited Office Max and received the best possible customer service from Seth in the printing department. He calmly walked me through what, is to me, a very complex set of steps to email time-sensitive official documents to their printer from my email and then have them printed, signed and scanned back to my email. Seth was clear and thorough in his instructions and made, what feels like a daunting task to this technologically disadvantaged customer, a smooth operation. Kudos to Seth and his Manager, Sharon, who showed pride in her young colleague who is new to his position but takes the utmost pride in what he does. Great service is hard to come by these days so I really appreciate when someone like Seth makes for a very satisfied customer..! read more

Just needed some flyers printed. I couldn't figure out how to use the website properly for what I needed. I drove to the store. I waited in line as they are obviously busy and there was only one lady in the printing dept. She asked me "are you here for printing!" I said yes and she promptly informed me she was extremely busy and there were many other people ahead of me and blah blah blah I don't care. I'm not in a hurry. I asked for a local email for the store that I could Email the files to and come back maybe when they aren't so busy. That was just tooo much for her. Terrible customer service. I won't be back. Maybe if you don't like your job or you don't like to be busy do something else. Just a thought. read more

I recently visited this store. Four people were on duty and at least two presented as neuroatypical. I dealt with both and they both gave helpful service. Big box store convenience. Plain and simple. Located on Bend's Eastside, it's on our way to and from work. They seem to have what we need and prices are competitive. We've been shopping here for years and have spent thousands of company dollars here and a few of our own. Pros: Selection. If it's not in the store, they are always more than willing to order it. However, we've only utilized this a couple of times of the years. 99% of the time, they have what we need right there, in stock. Warranty. On the "pro" side of things, we have utilized this add on purchase and gotten our money's worth from it. For a few extra bucks, we've replaced countless office chairs, fax machines and copiers that have failed before their "time" and the warranty replacement is typically a phone call, a few pictures and then a gift card arrives in the mail. Service. Hard to believe that employees at a big box store would recognize their patrons, but they do. At least they recognize us. Which says a couple things. Either we are in there way too often, spending way too much money or we are the KOOKY couple who are in there way too often spending way too much money. Another reason may be that they have low turn over who recognizes the kooky couple that comes in way too often and spends lots of money in there. Still, in today's day and age, it is nice to be recognized for your patronage and loyalty. Cons: Warranty. On the negative, sometimes the "up sale" can be a bit pushy. They had this one employee (haven't seen him for awhile, so maybe he is gone) who was downright annoying. He didn't LISTEN when we would say, "Yes, we know how this works." The warranty replacement is not something you should by for a pencil. C'mon folks. Service. Along the same lines, we are very familiar with the store, it's layout and where everything is located. As I said, we've been shopping here for years. And sometimes, I just like to wander and LOOK at things. Here's a little secret about me: I love stores like this. Be it a hardware store or office supply store. I like to look at things and daydream. I'm not always looking for something to buy and wandering around in frustration because I can't find what I'm looking for. Trust me, if I can't find it, I'll ask. So the, "Can I help you?" gets a little overwhelming at times. Pretty pathetic when the same sales associate doesn't even remember asking you that question 10 minutes ago. In conclusion: I do miss the "mom & pop" stores but those are such a distant memory, stores like this are the norm today and OfficeMax suits our needs. In truth, were it another big box store chain (like Staples at the north end of town) we'd probably be just as loyal to this location. In other words, it's not really the OfficeMax chain we are loyal to so much as it is this location and the service and selection of this particular store. read more

I can never find anything in this store. They have the signs on all the aisles and what's marked on the aisles is there, but if it's not on the sign, I have no idea where it is. I suppose it's intuitive, but not in a way that I get. Staff has always been helpful, but aside from the cashiers it's a little bit of a crapshoot to find anyone on the floor to help you track something down. Not a lot of choices in town, so have to make this work. But I always go in already feeling like I don't know what I'm doing, or where I'm going. read more

Worst customer experience ever. Went in to buy laptop and was told it was an "online only" thing... Okay, dumb, but whatever. The other laptops were mis-priced and didn't align with the current in-store sale prices (on the website). The associate told me I was wrong (and also argued some other details --accused me of being wrong again)... turned out that the customer was right, on all accounts. So anyway I ordered the laptop online and it stated it would be ready for pickup the next day. They authorized (aka. placed a hold on) the full price plus sales tax, even though my state (Oregon) has no sales tax and the item wasn't even being shipped in from one that does. I wasn't able to make it in for a few days, to pick it up, as OfficeMax (aka. OfficeDepot) is across town from me and I don't own a vehicle. When I showed up they told me that there was no such order. I was like "you gotta be kidding me". After a some waiting and stressing the associate (not the first guy) finally decided to lookup the order in the system. Apparently the order had been deleted. I was never sent any email, no phone call, no nothing. So she gives me a toll-free number to call (after I walk all the way back home) and when I finally get a rep on the line she tries to tell me it's all PayPal's fault and that they've already "deleted" the transaction. --Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the hold on my money still remains on hold and PayPal says that, as far as they can tell, OfficeDepot Inc (name on the statement) is the one who needs to let go! So here I am with no laptop and $421.99 poorer. It was a badass laptop too, for that price. Bummer. read more

Less than friendly service. I stopped in on a slow Saturday afternoon to get a refill on my black ink cartridge. There were employees standing around, and no one up front at the print refill station or any of the registers. A female employee, Tracy eventually wandered up, and without looking at me asked: "What do you need, ma'am?" I replied "Just an ink refill." Without even looking up, she announced: "that will be a 24 hour turnaround on that." I'm looking around at the empty store, and the employees doing nothing, so I was quite surprised at her lack of customer care. I curiously asked why it would take 24 hours? She snottily replied "Because that's that way it's always been done." and then something about not enough manpower to do it. Now, I've taken my ink cartridges here before, and it takes a max of 5-10 minutes. Considering there was no one waiting today for ink, and the store was not busy at all, I feel she could have been a little more accommodating than that. It's as if she didn't want to be bothered with me and wanted me to just go away. Fortunately, another employee, a young man, walked up just then & checked behind the counter and it turned out that they actually had my style ink cartridge in stock, so I could just do an even exchange. She quipped: "I guess you don't have to wait 24 hours after all." Office Max has a great deal on ink refills, but customer service is lacking. I'll stick to Costco for ink refills next time. I can hardly believe this place is still in business. The few good experiences I've had are with their print staff. They have been friendly and able to turn around jobs quickly but the rest of the experiences I've had have been dismal. Recently we attempted to purchase a desk and chair from them. They didn't have anything in stock in the store or the staff didn't know. In order to purchase anything we'd be required to pay shipping to the store. Ridiculous. read more

Beginning of the story: Seriously the worst customer service I've ever experienced from a professional service provider. The last time I was in, not only was my order not ready, the cocky young girl gave me a full on attitude. Asked a manager for help to no avail. Ended up walking out. I wouldn't have been back except my daughter has a preexisting order to be picked up. The clerk was working on laminating something. Stood here for a full 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Guess what? They can't find our order. Ugh. End of the story, however, is that they found the order, printed it, didn't charge me for it and assured me that further training was taking place within the store. read more

Cheap Chinese junk describes their office furniture. I was disgusted with the chair and file cabinet I brought home today. I will be seeking a refund tomorrow, and let you know how it goes. Both products were inferior right out of the box--NO instructions on a very complex office chair, and wrong hole guides on several parts. Dangerous and cheap. File cabinet was partly broken and wood vanieer was bubbling off--right out of the box. Sad to have to return the whole lot, and who knows what reception I will get tomorrow? read more

Worst service ever! Didn't answer the phone, put me on hold, couldn't tell me their fax number, couldn't talk to the manager, was told I needed to come into the store to get the fax number. I've never seen worse service! Went into the store just to express disappointment in the level of service. Nothing but a superficial apology. Worst service ever!! read more
