Great customer service! Prices were reasonable, I needed to make several copies and then use their fax machine.

College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving - Bend

Having had a reasonably positive experience with junk removal (one time), I accepted an estimate from College Hunks to move my possessions from Bend to Corvallis, OR. Prior to the move I had already boxed 90% of all household items and pre-moved fragile and expensive items. For the most part only clothing items and furniture needed move prep. Since I was simultaneously loading and (later) unloading miscellaneous items into a rental cargo van, I was not able to oversee the movers full time. I was also not able to inspect every item prior to their departure at the destination. It was only some hours later when I started rearranging items to make space that I discovered a floor lamp had been damaged. This lamp is metal and cantilevered and requires a heavy base weight for stability. Almost the entire weight (a type of mortar with a plastic bottom facia) was missing (see image). A few bits of plastic littered the floor under the lamp. This amount of damage debris could not reasonably have gone unnoticed whether it happened during loading, in transit, or while unpacking. The lamp was unstable even with the cantilever arm folded against its support. There was no mention of this damage by the move crew or the foreman. I see this as dishonest. I gave the movers a tip before their departure. Big mistake. I suggest you unpack and inspect your belongings before making any judgements on tipping. You can always provide one later. I promptly contacted College Hunks to notify them of the damage (I had opted for the more expensive "replacement" insurance). The process was not easy. Calls were seldom picked up or returned and most communication was via email. Eventually, I provided several images to support my damage claim. When there was no follow up I tried calling again and at some point reached Morgan Parker (the owner?). She was unaware any images had been sent so I emailed the images again, this time directly to her. More delays until I was informed that "a check will be sent." What? Several days later a check arrived via USPS with no cover letter explaining the amount, just a blank sheet of paper. In one exchange I had said where the lamp was originally purchased. There is no evidence this store was ever contacted. There were no discussions of the lamp's value or my cost to replace it. How the check amount was arrived at remains a mystery. I have heard nothing from College Hunks since receiving the check. When shopping for a replacement (in function) from the original store, even the lowest cost lamps were more than the check amount. Since receiving the check no calls have been picked up and there has been no response to messages. In desperation I reached out to College Hunks customer service. My inquiry was handled by several separate individuals with no end result. I was informed that each branch is a franchise and managed locally. I was told they would "reach out" to the Bend office, but it's been eight days and still no response. "Certified professionals?" Is it professional to conceal damage? Is it professional to stonewall damage resolution? That's doubtful. Disappointed? Yes. One would think College Hunks would exercise more influence over their franchises if only to protect their brand name. Look carefully at the four star rating. Over twenty percent of the reviews on this site are one star (18 out of 86). Make that 19 out of 86! Caveat emptor.

They did everything they said they would do, got the stuff here with breaking anything and were just a pleasure to work with. Calm, cool, collected and very, very professional. The main guy arrived late and the new guy stood around not knowing what to do. The one guy was new, so I get that he did not know what to do, however, the other guy said that he has been with the company for a while. However, we did not know that they would take twice as long and that this would be a training session. We offered to help to make things go faster, however, he said that he did not want us in his way. Very disrespectful. I had antique furniture and explained that to them but the one guy who had been with the company longer, dismissed me and while I am standing right there, he tells the "newbie" to ignore what the customer says and that you just need to pack the truck. When they finally got done, they charged up an extra $450 for the "overage" of time. I told him that was not our fault that you were taking longer because you had to train someone. However, he did not care and told them (the office) to charge our card. We also kept telling them that they needed to hurry up as the other crew that is unloading will be waiting. Well when we finally got going and the other crew was waiting for us so that they could unload, we found several things damaged. I had a box that said "Fragile" was shoved into spots that it should not have been. Precious items that I have had for over 20 years, broken and destroyed. Items that were my late mothers, gone and I can't replace those memories. So, it did not matter if it says fragile. Our kitchen table scrapped/scratched and chunks of it gone. I am not sure what they were doing, but we had to be a new table as this one was destroyed. Even though this crew was better and more respectful, when they were moving things into the home, they hit the walls and put gauges in the wall. So, now we had to repair the wall. They also allowed us to help unload the truck too. My antique furniture broken and can't be repaired, fragile items crushed and irreplaceable. So many items are broken due to the carelessness and disregard. I am devastated! We reached out to the owner and nothing. So, do not ever use this company!!!

I would literally hire these two guys on every future move of my life. There is a reason this company is voted "Best in Bend." They carefully laid out protective barriers on the floors, doors and walls. They were friendly, respectful of our worldly possessions, and kept insisting they would stay and move boxes and furniture anywhere in the house (even though our only goal was to get everything unloaded from the truck and inside in a pile). Thank you #bendbrothersmoving for completing our 2 month journey, from Atlanta, back home to Central Oregon. If I could give you a 10 star rating, I would!!!

Hired Proud American for a long distance move (Boston to San Diego)and they brokered out my move to unreliable movers that are impossible to work with. On Trak Movers picked up in an unmarked truck, and charged me an extra $400 to move my couch down 4 flights of stairs. This was after I refused to pay $800 (first lie). This company held my stuff for a week and then handed it off to another company MMG Moving without my knowledge or consent. I was told they would give me 48 hours notice prior to delivery. MMG called less than 24 hours prior and told me when they were coming, refusing to work with me on a date/time. I told Proud American and On Trak movers (multiple times) that my building requires a reservation in advance to reserve the loading dock (as do all buildings in San Diego or any city in this country-standard!) Jeremy from MMG refused to agree on a time the loading dock was available and said if you can't do 9am today too bad then we are forced to move your stuff into storage and can't give you a delivery date. I called the MMG office and spoke with a woman that confirmed delivery on June 15th at 3pm. The following day they called and refused delivery and apparently moved my stuff into storage. It's now 21 days later I do not have my stuff or a delivery date. No one will return my calls or confirm a delivery date. This company MMG is impossible to work with and Proud American has accepted no responsibility. Jeremy at MMG is absolutely impossible to work with and has no interest in helping get my things delivered. Tori Brooks at Proud American is the person I originally spoke to and she has done nothing but lie every step of the way, nor will she send me a copy of the contract that I have asked for 3 times. Ava the dispatch manager my case was escalated to told me she would take care of it and she is no longer answering my calls. No response in the past 24 hours. I have spoken to all 3 companies and no one is willing to help me or taking responsibility to get my things delivered. Absolute nightmare. I have asked for a copy of my contract 3 times and they refuse to send it to me. Close to $10k later I am forced to hire a lawyer to get my stuff. I have also filed complaints with BBB and FMCSA. RUN as far away from this company as you can. You have been warned.
