Just when I'm about to give up on the idea of customer service, your staff at the Trinity Parkway Office Depot in Stockton, CA continues to rise over and above my every expectations. In our small town that is being invaded by mega stores like WalMart and the ever alluring savings of shopping online, I can't imagine taking our business anywhere but to the forever helpful group of men and women under the leadership of Madrid.
In this particular instance that inspired me to write to you, I had just gotten off the phone with your customer service representative Mervyn for a transaction involving a 1000 business cards I had ordered a week earlier using your online print service. When I had made this card series using your online print center, I was excited to believe that I was making this easier on myself in saving the time that I had put in earlier card series I had done in store. Don't get me wrong, the cards I had made at the Trinity Parkway site where perfect. I just needed these cards for a convention, and thought I could do them myself. I had made cards at the Office Depot print center before, and despite an imperfection I blame myself for, I thought the came out respectable. In this series I even found a coupon that saved me a few bucks and gave me free shipping.
Fast forward to my call. I was disappointed to find my cards had not arrived after some time, and went back to my confirmation email to find in small print a code that said I had a CID error. In my call I explained to Mervyn that this was not possible, for which he did not confirm or deny. All he could do for me was to reenter my order and push back my cards for two weeks. TWO WEEKS? I needed these cards for this weekend. To top it off, after I agreed to decline, Mervyn ended our call with an insincere "Have a nice evening". WHAT!!!???
You can only imagine my flustered panic. Then in a moment of clarity, I remembered how blessed I am to live down the street from the Trinity Parkway Office Depot. I drove over, with little expectations after such a frustrating call. Who should greet me, but Stacy, who I had worked with before on multiple occasions, including my first series of cards some 5 years ago. I remembered her attention to detail on that card set, to the point that after we noticed a slight error, Stacy comped a whole new set. So, I began to tell my story. And before I could get to the end, Stacy smiled and said something to the Super Bowl commercial, "No problem". As if that wasn't worthy of showering praise, Stacy calls Shirley, who I've also worked with before on multiple occasions with outstanding results, and confirms that I they can give my cards a priority job status, do the cards before the end of the week onsite, and give me the same discount I had online. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" When does stuff like this happen? It's like I was expecting hidden cameras to pop out and tell me I just won customer of the year!
I have never been so honored to write anything to a corporate representative. I may never go online again, but I promise that I will always support, speak with absolute resolve for, and bring every cent of my business to the Trinity Parkway Office Depot.
