Taking care of business (which I'm pretty sure is now an officially licensed Office Depot song) I stopped in with two simple items on my list. My favorite pen had died this week (broken not empty) and I needed a new steno pad for taking notes. The store is neatly organized, the ceiling signs do all the heavy lifting, and it's the kind of place where you can walk in, hum a little TCB under your breath, and actually feel like you're living the brand. They don't have the usual clearance section tucked in the back, which almost disappointed me until I realized they've scattered the bargains like Easter eggs throughout the aisles. A quick scan told me nothing on those shelves matched what I needed, so I kept moving. I found the two‑pack of pens right away, but the steno pads were priced higher than I wanted to pay, and since I'm not about to overspend on something that basic, I passed and later found one at Walmart for about half the price. Checkout was quick and painless, just a tap at the register and I was out the door, feeling like I'd done my part in Office Depot's ongoing quest to take care of business, one pen at a time. My experience with the employees has always been great. No complaints about them or the store as it is always clean. My complaint is I cannot get a human on the telephone. I lost my bracelet and I wanted to know if they found it. I am on a walker and the handicap parking is a distance from the store. This is extremely irritating to me that I am required to return to the store not knowing if they have it or not. read more

The return policy is terrible. Office Depot states that their stores accept online returns, but when a return of an online order was attempted, we were turned away and advised that the stores do not accept the return of online orders. Additionally, their website does not accurately provide a description of their items as the item that arrived was not as expected, therefore they falsely advertised the product. I also called their customer service line and was given the run around. The customer service representative was not very helpful and only provided me with a claim number and then abruptly ended the call thereafter. read more

Today's visit was horrible. I had about $100 worth of supplies in the cart with intentions to purchase 3 bookcases, a printer , a desk. From research online , ~$1800 total. I was looking for magazine style file boxes. The employee i approached just motioned over his shoulder and said "they should be over there. " i told him i had already looked , he pointed in another direction, which only had plastic file boxes. When i asked if he knew what product i was looking for , his comment was " we move things around constantly and i have no way to it up. It would be best if you asked someone else." I thanked him and walked around a bit more. Another employee passed me in an aisle and hardly made eye contact. At that point i left my cart. On my out i passed what appeared to be the manager. She walked directly by me and never looked up from her phone. Went home and purchased the supplies from Amazon, will find the furniture elsewhere. read more

THE WORST OFFICE DEPOT IN CHARLOTTE!!! I bought a printer and arranged curb side pick up. Paid approx $300. Drove 50 minutes to pick it up. Got there and they say I didn't pay for it. I show them the charge coming out of my account. Through a TWO HOUR SWEATY EXHAUSTING UNBELIEVABLE ORDEAL they end up charging my account TWICE for the printer AFTER repeatedly reassuring me they wouldn't. So now I've got $600 in charges on my account that will take 4 days to drop off. And I STILL don't have a printer!! I finally left. Exhausted and starving. They never offered to give me a gift certificate or anything. They acted like I was the problem and that anything they did was as a personal favor to me. The manager called me "gal" and accused me of calling her stupid. I was stunned and glad there was a witness who heard every word I said. read more

I purchased a filing cabinet online. It was badly damaged upon delivery and I called a local Office Depot about this. They said they don't offer pick up service, that I had to take it back to a store which I did. I was told I would receive my refund in 7-10 days. I did not. I called them and was told again to wait 7-10 days. The third call took me to a "Solutions" Dept. and they said the cabinet had to be in their warehouse before a refund could be issued. I asked if it was there and was told yes, to wait another 5-7 days for the refund. Again, no refund. The phone calls continued for several more weeks and Office Depot employees continued to lie as to when I would receive my refund. I got in touch with the manager at the store and she had been trying to get Office Depot to pick up the cabinet ever since it first arrived but they were dragging their feet and telling me that they had the cabinet when they did not. I received an email in June from Office Depot telling me to expect my refund in 3-7 days. Not so. Another email arrived in July again telling me to expect my refund in 3-7 days. Not so. Two and a half months later I talk with the manager at the store who still has the cabinet behind the register. She contacted Office Depot again and they gave her a confirmation number for me and I was told to expect the refund by no later than July 6. Never happened!! They finally picked up the cabinet on July 11 and I was to told, again, to expect the refund in 7-10 days. It's been 4 weeks since the cabinet was returned and I still have no refund. I would recommend never using Office Depot to buy any furniture online. If you do, don't take it back to a store - wait for a pickup. All other stores I have made purchases from online allow you to take the item back to the local store. Not Office Depot! They also do not care about their customers. Only really go here if I need something right away. They do have a good selection of office supplies so you can find just about anything. This locations seems a little cavernous and empty... I still don't know how it is still in business sometimes since the other businesses in this shopping center seem to come and go pretty easily. Maybe the reason why I never like this place is that I always end up here to buy printer cartridges that cost an arm and a leg - not a real good way to associate a place if you know you are going to spend x amount of money.... Kristen in the Copy/Print center provided a terrible customer service experience. I was in Charlotte on business, visiting my company's local office. I work in the marketing department of an engineering firm. It is my job to produce proposals, and the Charlotte office does not have in-house printing capabilities, so my boss told me to just go to the nearby Office Depot. I walked in and waited at the counter. I informed Kristen I needed 7 copies of my proposal printed and would need to overnight it to its final location. She asked if it was something that could be picked up later and I told her no. She didn't like that answer and proceeded to tell me it would take awhile. I asked her how long and she said around 30-40 minutes and I said that was fine, I would wait. She was very huffy with me as she delegated the printing to a different employee, whose name I believe was Julie. Julie was very professional and pleasant. Julie printed the documents. I had supplied covers and tabs, so I put them in the correct place and then Julie bound the documents. The entire time this was going on, Kristen was very obviously complaining about me to anyone who would listen. She kept looking in my direction, pointing, rolling her eyes and huffing. When it came time to overnight the document, Kristen came back over to process that part of the order. I informed her that I would be taking my business to UPS since I was clearly such an inconvenience. Her coworker Julie apologized profusely despite her having done nothing wrong. Kristen said nothing and just walked away. There was a UPS around the corner who was very pleasant to deal with and informed me that they had printing capabilities as well. I called and spoke with a young lady about getting blueprints printed, she was professional and helpful. 4 hours later I finally got the chance to pick them up and I barely get 6' inside the door and the manager asked if he could assist me. I need help in figuring out how to give this location ZERO stars. The print section is run by fools and idiots ... let me explain. A good portion of the time the color printer/copier is down. There's no rhyme or reason it's usually broken. This afternoon I send an e-mail with 10 - 1 or 2 page attachments needing printing. The lazy guy behind the counter started talked about 24 hours needed. He didn't even open the attachments to see the size. I asked about coming in when they open and waiting ... nope. Seriously it's like the people in this store just don't give a crap. I've dealt with them before and can sincerely state that I'm not the only frustrated customer BUT wait I'm not a customer any longer and won't be back. read more

After my review of Best Buy in Matthews I have to give Office Depot at least a 4 star review! My husband and I have HAD IT with the customer service at Best Buy. We decided to take a chance and go to Office Depot and see what they offered in terms of laptop selections and service. When we first walked in we went over to the laptop department and we were greeted by George. George was extremely helpful in explaining to us everything we should consider when making a large purchase. George spent over an hour talking with us about the different types of processors, ram and overall quality we would be purchasing. He wasn't pushy and was completely upfront about where he gets his commission.. George not only spent an hour talking with us late Friday night, but he also made sure to set up our laptop for us to pick up the next day. In conclusion.... So if you're looking for a new laptop go see George at Office Depot! You might spend a few extra $ at Office Depot but you're going to get better service then you would at Best Buy. read more

The store is very clean, everyone was very helpful, and I was able to locate everything with ease. I actually made it out of there without buying any new pens or post-its!!! Customer service is terrible, every time I come to pick up my copies I have placed online I end up waiting forever for someone to even help me. Typically there is just one person behind the counter working in the copy center and they are always annoyed and doesn't seem like they want to be at work. Office Depot does not need to offer printing online services for a "convenience" if I'm going to end up waiting 30 minutes or more just to pick up my copies I have already paid for! This location needs a lot of customer service help. There's always many employees walking around in the store but no one comes to help! read more

Terrible visit tonight. Understaffed.....only one person in the printing area, yet they had 2 cashiers (only one was busy) and there were other workers others out on the floor. One of them helped me find an item. There were 6 people in line (I was third in line) to be helped with some printing. I left after 15 minutes and this was after I had not moved up one spot. Not sure what was taking so long with the customer at the counter, but the worker was hand entering many items from a list she was looking at. Had enough...very slow, and not enough help. I had been there before and there were 3 workers in printing then and it worked out great. Not sure what has happened since then but they need more than one person in the printing area Will have to try another location tomorrow. read more

Horrible printing service! I went there to print some color certificates this morning. Very poor quality: green color looked blue. The customer service rep told me that the printer had been acting up but did not offer an apology or any other solution. She just stood there and stared at me as if our roles were reversed and I was the one serving her. I will choose Staples next time! read more
