The customer service at this location is unacceptable. I was given a hard time because the associate who cut my fabric forgot my discount. Once I got the register and realized that it didn't ring up correctly, a supervisor came over and told me I needed to go back to the fabric department and have them fix it. Joel is the only one that came over and fixed the situation. I'm not sure why they couldn't take my word for it and give me the 30% off. Took 15 minutes to get it sorted out. Trust your customers! I shouldn't have to go out of my way to fix a problem that I didn't create. I guess saving the company $5 is more important than a customer experience. I won't be back. read more

My daughter sent me out for some embroidery floss or something like it. Specific colors required and if it's cheap, I'll want more. It took me a bit to find what I needed because this store is just so huge and I have never shopped for this before. But I eventually found it and they're only 56 cents each. So I ended up getting about 20 of them in an assortment of colors. Well organized and well stocked. At the register, even though there were five registers open, it still took me over 20 minutes to check out. Ugh. This store ALWAYS has long lines. Mainly because there's usually only two registers open but also because the cashiers work at a snail's pace. I wish there was a HL closer to me but I have a feeling it's company policy to only have a couple registers open. It's also not very good business sense to not take competitors coupons. read more

Came here for the first time this week. It's a huge store with several knock knacks, party items, room decor, crafts, etc. it's in a shared parking lot with plenty of parking. They have plenty of sales in basically everything and you can get all the items you need and more. This is a bigger Michaels. The store is huge and has 1,000 things in it so Its a bit dusty so don't forget your Allegra. The customer service is basic. I will be back as I have several events coming up and I can get all the items in one place. read more

We were barked at before we had even entered the store, and thrown a mask. Sure, I have a gift card so I'll do it. Not more than 30 seconds in the store and I see four employees with masks below their nose and 10 + guests not wearing them at all. Mind you, there are hundreds of people in this store. It is a Mad house. The only rule you are following is screaming at your customers before they enter the store, after that, it's clearly a free for all. But Don't worry, you won't catch Covid here because they make you wear a mask when you enter. I'll also add they have signs around the store encouraging guests to inform the authorities if folks aren't complying. I suppose this is because they clearly cannot do it themself. read more

Came to Hobby Lobby yesterday to look for some Christmas decorations. It was absolutely packed which is normal for a Saturday afternoon. However, I saw at least 15-20 people throughout the store not wearing a mask or wearing their mask incorrectly on purpose (hanging off of their face.) There were employees standing at the front of the store and I did not see anyone ask those individuals to put on a mask. I love Hobby Lobby but I do not want to shop in a place that does not care to keep their customers safe. read more

Huge place... good selection of crafting materials. I usually come here for paint supplies and photo frames. It seems like they've got about anything you need for craft projects. Even their seasonal stuff changes a lot. At one point I think I saw some small furniture items in here as well. I am a little tainted since this used to be a grocery store I used to work at when I was in high school. Brings back good memories, but it makes it strange to visit since it wasn't what it used to be. It's good that Hobby Lobby chose this location though since the space sat empty for a year or two - I think that was even more depressing to look at since it is the largest retail space in Matthews Corners. I'm usually and "in-and-out" shopper but I can definitely see people getting lost in the vast store of all things hobby related. read more

I love Hobby Lobby! I make the trek down here from Ballantyne passing 3 Michaels along the way. I think Hobby Lobby has better deals, and normally you are a fan of one or the other. I am definitely a Hobby Lobby girl. They have a warehouse of crafting supplies, and endless amount of picture frames and home decor. Every Sunday in the newspaper there is a 40% off coupon hidden on the back of a section. I probably came here once a week when I was planning my wedding and would often find their entire wedding section at 1/2 off. I pretty much decorated all of my wedding space from stuff I found here. I am a frequent Hobby Lobby shopper. Upon moving to NC, I was very happy to learn there is a location close to our house. The three-star rating has nothing to do with the stock, structure, or upkeep of the store. They always have what I'm looking for and more. Every single visit I stand in line for an obscene amount of time. They need to hire more cashiers or retrain the ones they have. I have worked in retail and feel I am more emphatic to cashiers than a lot of other people I know, even the people with whom I have waited in line at this location, but the wait to pay here is just plain bad customer service. read more

This is an amazing Hobby Lobby location. It almost seems brand new inside. The place is huge and the selection is vast. Anything you need for a craft or decorating you can find here. Hobby Lobby, Oh how I love you so much! I love how I can walk into your clean and beautiful store and literally be pulled in all sorts of different directions. Every little nick-nack calls to me and says "pick me up". What I find amazing about you is that you have truly amazing prices every day. I can search high and low at all the local stores and will know that if all else fails Hobby Lobby will have what I'm looking for. I went to Hobby Lobby today to make a return. The return line had 1 person in it MAKING a purchase. Her purchase was 3 Baskets FULL of Christmas Decorations. It was taking 2 people to help her. One checking items and 1 wrapping items. I stood there with someone else waiting for more than 15 minutes. Frustrated I went to another line and when I got to the cashier she said she couldn't do returns. That I needed to go to the return line. Then why did they let someone get in the return line to make a purchase especially that large?? There were at least 6 cashiers working but one return line. I called when I got home and spoke with Eric (co-store manager) I explained my situation. He knew exactly who I was talking about purchasing in line and was very apologetic and mentioned the register beside the return line could take returns too. So if that's the case they need to put up a sign that reflects that! I had 1 item to return and the woman in front of me let me go ahead of her because she knew how long I had been waiting! But to no avail because the cashier couldn't do my return. By the way Eric hung up on me too! GREAT customer service Thanks Hobby Lobby you just lost my business and respect! read more

It has been years since I have written a yelp review, but it's the holiday season and I am in the giving mood (LOL). I think often times, stores with great customer service do not get enough recognition. I had a great experience at this particular hobby lobby. I had gotten a pre-lit Christmas tree at the University location for my office and it turned out to be a bad tree (it was the floor sample) - I was able to return the tree with literally no hassle and everyone was attentive and nice. I will make it a point to return to this particular store in the future. It really does make a difference when people are friendly! read more

FRAME SHOP HAS VERY VERY QUESTIONABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I USED TO WORK IN A FRAME SHOP AT ANOTHER BIG ARTS AND CRAFTS STORE. Here's my experience... I took a couple pictures and frames in to get them put together properly. I wanted them done by a frame shop with an air gun to get the dust out of the frames. The girl who worked on them acted very frustrated with her job, framing my large artwork, and me in general. She started working on it then tried to quit and just give it back to me unfinished because she did not approve of my less than expensive frame. Instead of creating a work order and letting some else more experienced work on it, something I attempted to encourage to do, she expected me to just hang out in the store for a very very long time with me just checking back in periodically to see if it was done yet. Most of the times I came back to check in to see if it was done, she had quit working on it and was doing something else instead. She put Finger Prints All Over the White Mat for one artwork. The picture had been factory sealed when I brought it in to the shop and she took it apart got smudges all over it and then actually tried to tell me I brought it in that way !! * There is dust one frame and permanent marks from where the dust was sitting on the mat in other frame before I took it back to be worked on again. The D rings from which to hang the artwork not oriented properly. The frame shop manager told me she worked on the picture herself. The picture is the 2nd most popular Van Gogh print on amazon and clearly has a top and bottom. I don't understand how a frame shop manager could get that wrong especially with an order that has been returned. I am feeling extremely frustrated by the whole ordeal. I love Hobby Lobby and shopped there during my art school days, almost weekly prior to my wedding, and now I still go at least once a month or so for household decorating items. I have recommended the store to SO many people for the 8+ years I have shopped there. And I do love hobby lobby But I love honest reviews and ratings even more. SO... shop til your hearts content in the store and always be sure wait for their 50% sales on the particular items you are wanting and/or use their nearly weekly coupons for 40% off one non-sale item. (just show them the coupon on your phone or print it out prior to shopping) *BUT* I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEIR FRAME SHOP TO ANYONE. At the frame shop I worked at an arts and crafts store that starts with M, if we destroyed anyone's mat we replaced it, no questioned asked. We also made the back of frames look very nice and used Proper Hardware for the picture even if it was the customer's frame purchased somewhere else. We also never hesitated to apply glue, add an L-bracket (or two), touch up scuff marks, and the like, without being asked. read more

Sooooo many things it's overwhelming. Good customer service. I went in to get some drawer pulls and felt like they were overpriced so I came out with three other random purchases. Some great discount items. This is the store to shop for a girl friend! Great home decor signs for every taste. HL has pluses - stock, nice staff but.....I truly dislike two things there - the state of their bathrooms which never look clean and the wait in line to checkout is always way too long. If I can get it at Michaels, I go to Michaels. read more

Unlike most of my store visits at the Hobby Lobby Matthews Township Parkway location in NC, I was very dissatisfied tonight. When entering the store, I was "greeted" by what looked to be the store manager (tall, bald man with mustache, in a plaid shirt, unlike the rest of the employees) who's first words to us when entering were, "we close in 5 minutes." My intention when entering the store was to make a quick return, which could easily be completed in the closing time span.This man then proceeds to stand at the door and continuously check the time on his phone, reminding every customer who passed about their limited time, and eventually blocking the entryway with carts to ensure no further guest entry. If his comment and actions would have registered with me sooner, I would have said something to him personally about customer service myself; but considering he was too busy worrying about leaving on time, the opportunity did not arise. I understand that customer courtesy also applies in these situations, but as an employee, especially manager, this should be no way to treat guests. Otherwise, love the store, but this experience will forever leave a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Horrible customer service during pickup. The employees were dismissive and unwilling to help in a timely manner. After 10 minutes of waiting for a unity candle rental, the employees were lost and had poor documentation. They spoke to my husband very condescendingly. After they placed the candle at the front of the store, one of the leads decided not to assist and was, instead, on the phone without explaining the situation. My husband was asked a so many questions just for them to say they couldn't release After the wedding, they wouldn't accept the return without the original paperwork. The process is convoluted and idiotic. Luckily they accepted the candle when my father in law went and spoke to the manager. The manager was helpful but the lead at the register was a hindrance and an embarrassment to customer service. Our experience with this location is such that we cannot recommend this hobby lobby for rentals. read more
