I've been printing our annual holiday letter at Office Depot every year until December for close to 15 years. It's just 200 color two-sided copies, pretty straightforward. I apply a corporate discount card to give me a significant discount on the total price. After a terrible experience at the Chantilly location, I went directly to Fairfax and thankfully had a positive experience. It was a Wednesday evening, store was quiet, 2.5 hours before closing. I walked right up with my file on a USB drive, and the Print Center employee printed my letter in under 10 minutes. She said the new corporate purchasing card rate is a flat 30% off, which is something new for 2023 and double what I paid last year per my receipt, but that's not on her. I thanked the woman profusely for handling my print job immediately and alleviating some of my holiday stress, especially after what I encountered at the Chantilly location. I'll be taking my business to Fairfax from now on! read more

I used to get great deals on laptops here. Also printers. Those days appear to be in the past. Some in the business world, might like their supplies. To me they are overrated. It's a competitor to Staples. Have fun if you're here, as they certainly do carry a lot in inventory. It's not crazy busy in here, the last few times I've been here. That could be good or not so great for them. I will say they have above average customer service. Their people know the technology section quite well. If I remember correctly, they have some good sales on tablets occasionally. There is an ok amount of parking close by, but also a Costco is in the area. Be careful as the driving experience can be problematic. read more

I came here to print two pieces of paper and laminate them. Expecting to take no more than 15 min but ended taking about an hour. The synopsis is that their printers for some reason don't read pdfs well and I had many misprints as a result. Printing directly from a Word doc seems to fit the bill. But again, I and the customer service rep only found that out through much trial and error. First of all, there is a self service station where you can insert your usb drive or pull from your email to print. And then there are staplers and hole punchers nearby. For tasks costing less than $2.50, this is the way to go because their full service minimum charge is $2.50. Originally I used their self-service printer, but the formatting is limited and it ended up printing things upside down and pictures spilled over some parts. So then I had them print it on their full service printers. The rep working at the time was clearly young and inexperienced. So I will give some grace here. But I do have to state the facts and hopefully they will train their employees better...Firstly, when the rep took my usb drive and inserted into the computer, he inserted it wrong and kind of roughly. It was a thinner design so I was having concerns that he would break it. I ended it inserting it properly myself. And then the prints didn't come out right. Good thing I checked myself before heading home. The issue, as aforementioned, turned out that for some reason their printers didn't print overlayed textboxes and spilled over images. The fix was to print from within Microsoft Word. Then with the laminations, he was not very careful and some of them were crooked. Good thing I wasn't in any hurry and the rep did try his best to resolve the issue. But then he tried to charge me again for all the mistake copies...I had to insist that it was not ethical to charge the customer when it was their machine's mistake. Only after he pulled in another colleague was I free to go. Definitely won't be coming back here anytime soon for any kind of professional printing. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I hate posting negative reviews. The issue I experienced today absolutely requires me to at least post about my experience so that others don't waste their time coming to this location. In the past, I've used this location specifically because the customer service and printing services were amazing. I work at Amazon and I had a couple of projects I was managing and I needed some signage & banners printed. All the other times, the employees were absolutely lovely and eager to help. Today, I stood at the counter along with another gentleman who had a printing question, for 24 minutes. I timed it. This entire time, an employee sat at the computer on a stool, fiddling with a picture of a 1099 that another customer had brought in and needed "photoshopping" done to the picture to enhance the clarity. I'm not sure if this falls within the scope of these employees responsibilities, but for whatever reason, this associate decided to assist. This isn't the issue, though. The issue is, another associate stood at the cash wrap, on their phone, texting or whatever. I just needed to look at the samples for the types of available premium printing they offer. Nobody even acknowledged me. I simply just walked out after I had stood there long enough. Don't waste your time. read more

About a 2-2.5: This Office Depot/Office Max is similar to the one in Bailey's Crossroads in terms of a limited selection of office supplies for the workplace. This particular location has a little less variety, and some of the supplies are just not well-stocked. It is a bit disorganized, as there seems to be an issue of certain items not in their correct places. You are still able to get your basics, such as writing utensils, school items (markers, crayons, pencil organizers/cases, notebooks, etc.), paper, and ink/toner for the printer. I was able to get some stickers, notepads, and clipboards (as they sell them individually, by 2s, or by 3s). The check-out was a little slow, as the cashier wasn't focusing on the number of items and almost missed half of my purchases! I've been to this Office Depot a number of times over the years - to pick up all of the generic office supply stuff that one needs: pens and pencils, highlighters, a Label Maker, staples, tape, packing materials, on and on. Today I stopped in to stock up on #10 and #6 3/4 mailing envelopes. What is interesting about this location is it's address. Years and years ago - across the street was a big discount members only club - named "The Price Club." And so the whole address naming convention for the street/plaza was set as "Price Club Plaza." Years later, Price Club would go out of business, or get bought out, or something - now it is a CostCo - and yet the name is still "Price Club Plaza!" read more

Saturday August 12th at 3pm. Interaction with the cashier was awful. There were two SEPARATE lines and the other line was going slower so then a man from the other line moved to my line behind me. Just when it was my turn to step up the cashier, the cashier shouted to me, "mam, that the gentleman behind you was first." Ok this is absurd but whatever. There was never a single line so this is ridiculous. So there I stood a VERY long time while he processed this man's transaction. The man bought a printer so of course he had to offer the extended warranty. Then he let the customer know that it only comes with starter ink so then he left the register to pickup ink for the customer. Then the other line proceeded to move forward but the cashier said nothing about me moving next to the other line. How incredibly rude and inconsistent. I will never shop at this location ever again! I've been a long and loyal customer of Office Depot for many years. Several days ago I ordered - online - two computer monitors. I was advised that they would be delivered the same day, then told that it would be the next day - which I was fine with. Then I received an email saying they wouldn't be delivered until the following week! When I contacted Office Depot they said it would be faster to cancel the order and then re-order for pickup at a local store the next day - to which I again agreed. Then I receive an email the next day saying the packages would be received the next day. When I advised that the order was cancelled - I was told that the delivery would be cancelled. To my chagrin - the packages were in fact delivered the next day. Trying to get their customer service to figure things out was a MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT. I will never shop at Office Depot again. i came here yesterday to drop a package for fed ex which didnt happen but thats not the basis for this review. when i arrived, i stood behind a woman being helped by the man in the full service printing area. she whispered 'he is in a bad mood'. i noticed he had the laminator taken apart & then saw several newspapers the woman had on the counter. i asked her what she was laminating & she lit up with excitement sharing with me that she is a local artist that had been selected over the summer to create a mural on a building in culpeper! this had been memorialized in several publications that she wanted to preserve & rightfully so! THIS MAN BUTCHERED THEM. the papers were wrinkled, couldnt read the date & he cut the edges so close some areas werent even sealed. theyre ruined! she will be lucky to find replacements. i butted in & he said 'you cant laminate newspaper. its too thin'. i asked him 'then why did you do it?!' i asked the woman if she agreed to this risk before his attempt & she said no. he reluctantly chose to not charge her but at that point so much damage had been done & not just to the papers. ive always had a good experience here but this was disturbing! that said, soon after i arrived, the cashier asked if i needed help but then indicated she couldnt process fed ex & the man had to do it. she was proactive & friendly while we chatted briefly about earrings. she was great! beyond that, the man never acknowledged me (never said 'i will be right with you' or 'im going to be a few minutes') until i had fully interjected myself into the laminating situation. at that point his tone was super nasty when he said 'maam did you NEED something?'. needless to say it became a battle of wills & he is a very weak individual. on my way out i asked the cashier if he is nice to her. she hesitated when she said yes. i told her he is not allowed to bully her or intimidate her. she said he was the assistant manager that had been transferred a month ago from another location. management? acting like that?! The shelves are sparsely stocked and utterly disorganized. I've gone in multiple times only to leave empty handed after not finding what I was looking for or not having a clue what the price was due to the chaotic merchandising of the store. But the worst part is that, while I've rarely ever been asked for help, employees seem to find the time to linger nearby while you're shopping. My computer was acting slow so I went to Office Depot for computer support. They accidentally DELETED everything from my hard drive - ALL my programs, documents, pictures, emails, EVERYTHING. This happened two weeks ago and they're still "considering" whether or not to upload the programs they deleted! DO NOT COME HERE FOR COMPUTER SUPPORT OR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Update: After hassling with the managerial staff for over a month on them replacing the programs they deleted from my computer, their final answer: "NO! We will not replace the computer programs we deleted from your computer." read more

If you want something printed here I suggest you avoid it at all costs. The ignorant and rude lady at the printing department could not figure out how to print a pdf document sized for a business card. Out of all the available software they have on their computer (Photoshop, illustrator, pretty much anything you can think of) she only knew how to "open" publisher. After about 30 min of changing formats and manually stretching my image without keeping it's ratios she finally printed a proof. Of course the whole thing was pixalated. When I told her this is not going to work she told me to go somewhere else. I complained to the manager and drove over to Kinkos. I was out of Kinkos with quality business cards in under 10 min (printed AND cut) The employee at office depot was rude from the start, was walking around and laughing like an ape and joking with other employees while customers were waiting. Had below basic knowledge of how to use a computer, it was painful to watch. If you are going to have a business print department, put someone who had basic knowledge of computers. In addition if the employee has no customer skills, is rude, makes faces, does not speak proper English, has a laugh that can be heard across the whole store and just zero manners what so ever - put them in the warehouse so they can stack boxes and not hurt your business. This was my singe place for office needs, however due to this experience I will gladly go to a different establishment. read more

I must give this Office Depot FIVE stars for quality AND customer service in the printing department. This is my go to place for printing: party invitations, favor bag tags, labels, and now a 20" by 30" poster. First, the quality is Amazing!!! The colors are vivid and bright. Their printers can't compare with the one I have at home. The poster is stunning . It looks like a professional advertisement from a department store!!!! Second they always have everything else I need: invitation kits, labels in all kinds of shapes and sizes, fancy paper, mounting boards, etc etc. No need to go to Michaels or elsewhere. I walk in with my USB and voila - all done!!! Third and very important is the customer service, the guys know their stuff!! They corrected some of my files before printing and gave clever suggestions. They were patient. I didn't feel rushed. ... A couple of times I have to wait while they help a customer in front of me ... 20 minutes or so. But I trade that for the excellent service when it is my turn. I know I also think why they don't put more people out and etc (I also enjoy the fast and stressful DC metro life) but sometimes I have to remember to have some patience... Lastly the printing prices and everything in the store is very reasonable. In fact it often compares to the prices on Amazon.com except you get to see the items in person and helped by real people. read more

It was my pleasure to work with staff that were so courteous. Very obliging group- all of them especially in the print dept. Kyle Roberts and Matthew Mattson bent over backwards to accommodate a printing request that required precision, more accurately perfection. I usually drive to the Chantilly location. Use this location as a last resort for same day supplies. Staples location recently closed - so this is the closest for me. In the past toner shelfs have been completely disorganized and difficult to locate your product. Today was a fail on basic business skills. I made the mistake of using their restroom. It was filthy. I suggested to the manager that it needed attention and asked when it was last cleaned? (They had not been open more than an hour today) Their response was just 3 days ago. Really, most stores require daily cleaning and inspection every few hours. I had noticed in the past they refuse to refill supply fixtures and instead take the lazy way out opening sales stock of paper towels and soap and leaving it out. Management needs to be retrained. Not the level of service I would expect from Office Depot. If you cant take care of your business, why should we trust you to take care of ours? read more

I went here to make some copies in the print center and found that the prices are more expensive than what was advertised on line. In the interest of time I decided to stay, but it was difficult getting assistance needed (basic questions) for the self service area. The worker in the print center just stood around and texted instead of trying to see if she could help. When she finally finished her texting and came over, she was not pleasant or helpful. I quickly realized that the print quality was not good and could not be adjusted (too dark). I ended up taking my project to the Fed Ex print center where the workers were cheerful, helpful, and the machines were more efficient. read more

I went here to buy some notebooks and when I went to the register to pay for all of it, the cashier tried to sell me a box of wide ruled paper. I declined and he suddenly became extremely rude about it. After I had paid he said "The money you paid for these notebooks you could have bought a box of this paper". Best OD, I've ever been to. Is that saying much? ... all depends on your expectation level, I guess. But having been to every office supply store in the greater FFX area, I have to say this is the first time I was impressed with the staff. Helpful, pleasant, and for once, one store had every odd sort-of-office-related item I was looking to buy ... in one place. I went on to their website to order a couple things and the website told me that if I ordered by X time guaranteed delivery the following day. I thought WOW that is awesome, free delivery and the next day. I decided to do this since I was off for other reasons and wouldn't require me to run to the store or take time off from work to be home to receive it. Well..... that was not the case as I just found out. Even though I ordered within the time parameters that were given the shipment is not being delivered until Monday which means a day will have to be taken off of work to be home to sign for it and when speaking to a customer agent online he offered coupons as a sorry for your troubles but all required that I spend a minimum amount and expired within the next 2 weeks. False advertisement and learned my lesson that they false advertise next day delivery and just go in to the store to get it. read more

I shopped at this Office Depot on a Friday evening. I was browsing store, and had occasion to have conversation with store manager. The store manager was very rude and then proceeded to lecture me on 'my behavior' which was blameless, and then had the gall to say that 'I was still welcome in the store.' This 'manager' knows nothing about public relations, and I can't imagine returning to this store as long as that individual is the store manager. I also noticed the staff giving out incorrect product information on two occasions including on whether a computer could have upgraded memory or not which I verified with manufacturer, and on another occasion didn't know where their own inventory was located in the store. This appears to be a case of follow their 'leader.' I did see one associate that was actually trying his best to help customers, but with a manager like that in charge, I would think it is an uphill battle. read more

Okay, so I bought an HP laptop from Staples in Fairfax and with my purchase i paid for an extra 2 year warranty. The store manager told me that it already comes with a one year manufacturer warranty, with an additional two years, which is a total of 3 years. Two and a half year goes by, and my HP laptop is dying on me! So what do I do? I go to Staples and here i am thinking they would give me the same HP(but a new one) which is what you buy a warranty for, right? But no, they said it was a total of two years and that the one year limited warrant was not included into the entended warranty. And I was thinking to myself how is that so? One year limited, and then two years extended, is a total of three years. Long story short, the Manager did not compensate me a for a new HP. However, he did offer me the same laptop, brand new, for 250$(which is about 40% off original price) As great as that sounds, I paid $150 for extended warrany, plus 250$ that they want is 400$, which is BASICALLY the cost of the laptop? Which is EXACTLY why, I will never come here again to purchase ANYTHING! read more
