Great food, friendly staff, and a beautiful and convenient location! We go out of our way to make sure we swing by and visit our friends at OTG whenever we're in the general area. Food is fresh which means it's not always ready in a flash. A good sign of you ask me. We're thankful for this establishment and looking forward to continuing to visit it often.

This is a delightful place to stop off for a bite and glass of wine after hiking in the nearby National Park. Tons of great dishes including some (very good!) Asian ones such as a Thai curry and Banh Mi sandwich. The ingredients are all fresh, service is engaging and attentive, and there are a lot of cool niche products (nuts, ciders, chips) as well as nick knacks and even art and photography for sale. Picnic tables with outdoor dining next to a stream as well. Very relaxing lunch here. Two Thumbs Up!

Omg. My friends and I came here after a hike and it was an amazing experience. The breakfasts and lunch are super good, they have an American eclectic menu as my friend described it which is nice since there's something for everyone. Very fresh food with moderate portions, and the interior is quite nice too. Honestly the restaurant is a bit small, think there are only about 7 tables inside and a couple outside, so come early if you want to sit in. Cute little store in the back and a bunch of freshly baked goods and snacks to choose from. Good coffee menu too.

Off The Grid is located on U.S. 211 - a bit west of the main "downtown" of Sperryville. It sits right on the banks of the Thornton River as it comes gurgling out of Shenandoah National Park. Stopped in on a Sunday for Brunch. Was pleased to see they offer Lox & Bagel! So I ordered that! My friend ordered the same thing. They have an interesting, eclectic menu. The special of the day was Gumbo - and I was sorely tested - I wanted both the Gumbo and the Lox & Bagel. So next time, if it's available - it'll be Gumbo time! I also ordered water - they have water in a large dispenser that you can serve yourself - or if you want water to go - they sell water in these environmentally friendly plant-based containers - which is what I opted for. There are a few tables inside, we sat at one and devoured our Lox & Bagel. Very tasty! Ivan is the manager - if he is in - say hello to him! #OffTheGrid

The food was incredibly delicious and fresh! My fiancée and I absolutely loved this place!

We've eaten here with our kids while we stay in Sperryville a few times now. It's got very good food, with a great outdoor seating area, and a working farm that you can explore with your kids if you want to see bee hives, goats, chickens and other things. With any given piece, it might be hard to justify the 5-star rating, but all together it definitely takes it over the top. As far as the food goes, we've worked our way thought the Penang curry, bahn mi, fig and chicken sandwich, and the PB&J sandwich for the kids. The bahn mi and curry were both very good, which makes me think the Asian-inspired dishes may be the way to go in general. The pickled veggies and meat on bahn mi were both great. The only complaint is that there could maybe be more filling/toppings for the break. The curry was excellent both times I had it. The chicken in it was nothing to write home about, but the overall flavors with the rice work. The PB&J sandwiches are surprisingly good. They're served on thick-sliced, amazing bread and are good enough that I kind of looked forward to the kids not finishing them. Beyond the food, the outdoor seating sits on a gurgling stream with fantastic trees and relaxing views. Across the stream is a working farm with goats, chickens, greenhouses, gardens, bee hives, and a solar farm that's worth checking out. That means we could take our kids for stroll to see some animals and other things before and after the meal turning a meal into a reasonably good outing. Be sure to ask if they can help you turn off the electric fences around the chickens and goats if you want to pet them. Other than that, we'd probably skip the coffee unless you need the caffeine. The macchiato wasn't any better than you'd expect from an automatic espresso machine you could have at home.

This was a great stop after our 9 mile hike at Old Rag Trail. The owner even let us get coffee a few minutes before they opened before our hike! The food was incredibly fresh, especially the eggs which come from their chickens in the back farm. The set up was very cute, and it was nice seeing the kitchen in front where you can see them cooking! Great service and I appreciate how environmentally friendly they are- they even used uncooked fettuccine noodles as a coffee stirrer instead of a plastic straw! Genius! Also free coffee refills! So be sure to try this place if you are near Shenandoah! :)

Off the grid has a great back yard area with tables and benches. If the weather allows it, I definitely suggest sitting outside. The menu has great vegetarian options. My Ramen salad had a delicious sauce with a hint of spice. Great meal after a hike in Shenandoah

But…read moreif you're looking for a place to eat right after leaving Shenandoah, this is a fine option. We stopped by at 11:30 for lunch on a Sunday in fall. We were told there was a 10-15 minute wait, but if we sat at the empty bar we would have to wait the same amount of time because food was behind. Not sure how that works but okay. They have a nice text system for their waitlist, so we used that. We waited in the back room, which had a few tables, a large stage, a pool table, and a jukebox. It was a fun vibe! Once we sat, we both got the cheeseburger- there's only one choice for a meat burger. It took a while to come out. The burger was pretty average. The server described it as a smash burger even though it didn't say that on the menu. The patties were a little thin, with standard toppings on a sesame seed bun. The fries were thin and nothing special. My friend called it a slightly upgraded McDonald's. Again, nothing bad but nothing special. I wouldn't come back, but there aren't many other options in Sperryville.

This was one of the few eateries along the route, spread out along the highway. I don't often get around to country town restaurants so I thought this one might be pretty good. The first thing that jumps out about this place is the beautiful vista of the golf course greenery with mountains hanging in the back. On a beautiful sunny day, the greenery on the patio just shines. Inside, there is a narrow bar area and some booths, but if you walk a few more steps in you'll find an open reception area complete with a decorated stage and some open tables, a small bar, a pool table and a juke box. It was clear of this room was for an event or if it was just another turn off of the main dining area, but it was interesting to look at nonetheless. We came around 1:30 pm, and the brunch menu was still open. We opted for the burger and fries. The burger was decent, but the fries sadly tasted a bit too crunchy and poorly seasoned. The service was decent, and thankfully we didn't have to wait too long for service or to be seated. All in all, it was a nice experience but I don't think I'd necessarily recommend this place for the food, but if you like views, this place didn't disappoint.

The escargot stands apart from the usual butter-heavy preparations, showcasing a lighter, more refined touch while retaining plenty of flavor; serving it in-shell adds welcome visual appeal. Well it all came down to the customer service and food delivery time. When we first sat down, nothing was mentioned to us about the service times. We were greeted and just kinda tossed into a spot. I say it that way b/c they weren't very amenable in how they sat us. After sitting down, they did the order, drinks, etc. like usual. The catch - they were MASSIVELY behind on their ticket times. Was it busy? A little, there were still seats around us available though. Now when I say massively behind, it took us nearly 50 minutes for our food to arrive. That's just crazy for a lunch service. In the future, if they were that behind on ticket times, it would help all the customers in the restaurant (allowing tickets to stop backlogging), and set the expectations for the new customers coming in. Maybe it was a one-off, but it definitely prevented us from even considering it when we were looking at places to eat. Others see it as part of a wider "reset" affecting other longtime three-star spots like Alinea (Chicago) and Masa (New York), which also dropped to two stars at the same time. I'm not completely sure why the slight decline but here's my honest view. The scenic drive from DC through the Virginia countryside sounds breathtaking--rolling hills, charming small towns, glimpses of Blue Ridge Mountains but in actuality all of the turns and hills made myself and friend sick. We had to pull over and gather ourselves. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, filled with artwork, pink, green and gold monkey wallpaper and Victorian tables, and English country style. It's maximalist--opulent without being stuffy. Our waitstaff made the evening extra special for my birthday. They constantly wished me a happy birthday, asked thoughtful questions about my life, shared jokes, and engaged in small talk that felt genuine and personal. Not to mention the menu with my name. Each course on the 7-course tasting menu was beautifully presented. We loved having three menu options to choose from: a new seasonal tasting (always fresh and surprising), Enduring Classics (with signature dishes like the iconic lobster preparations or herb-crusted favorites), and a full vegetarian Good Earth menu with the eggplant course being our favorite. The unlimited warm bread service with fresh butter and flaky sea salt was a simple but perfect touch. The Champagne options were endless (their wine list is legendary, with a massive cellar and expert sommeliers), and they even offered a dedicated book/menu highlighting rare waters from around the world--everything from iceberg sources to unique mineral springs. I've never seen a water book before. Standouts for me was the caviar egg, lamb main course and tomato amuse-bouche. If you're looking for a special occasion spot (birthday, anniversary, or just because), this is it. Four people will run you around $2500 including drinks. Con- I would work on the cocktail menu (the Diana tasted like cough medicine). Bring back the pear dessert and portion sizes from 12 years ago. My main lamb portion was embarrassing.
