Took Dad and wife to breakfast this morning to Off the 8 Cafe. Dad had not been here before today. He was amazed. He had the pork chops and eggs and was pleased he could not finish he got so much food. The service was over the top. And the ambiance is very simple and enjoyable. If you want a simple place to eat and be able to enjoy a breakfast or lunch give them a try. They are quick to serve and quick to bring your food and accurate.

We've been in here many times and the food is 100% good. We split a hamburger and french fries. The service from Lexi was amazing. The ambience is very clean.

Ordered the pancakes instead of toast and they were also sooooo good

We were traveling through and fortunately stumbled across the Off the 8 Cafe. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was so great. Every staff person was so friendly. The menu is great with lots of choices for everyone. We chose to sit inside, but they also have a lovely patio. My husband LOVED the extra large coffee cups I chose the Mae your own omelet and my husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Both of our meals were delicious. We would definitely recommend and will stop by again when in the area

Always really great service and the food comes quick. Simple menu. Both breakfast and lunch are great. The club sandwich or chicken wraps are amazing.

    3.00% Credit Card Surcharge

FOOD: We had the Patty Melt. It was very good, though I was not thrilled with the French Fries. SERVICE: Very Good. We had a very friendly server, who was fast and efficient. AMBIANCE: Nice. The place was quiet, with two opposite facing televisions on a non-political station, so anyone seated could see (but not hear) the televisions. PRICE: Not Good. Our Patty Melts, which were basically cheeseburgers on slices from a loaf of bread, were $17.45 and only included French Fries. The the meals were very good, however what we received did not justify the price. A similar meal at, say In-N-Out, would cost under $10 per person, include a drink, and there would be no expectation of a tip, saving nearly half the cost. To add insult to this financial injury, they added a 3.00% "Credit card surcharge" of $1.13. So, for two burger and fries combination plates with water to drink, we were out the door for $45.73, including tax and tip. Just not worth it.

Now let's talk food... the brisket was out of this world! Tender, flavorful, and just the right amount of smokiness. Paired with the coleslaw (so fresh and delicious) and their BBQ sauce that was sweet but not overpowering, the whole combo was dynamite. I even had to snap a "before" pic of the plate--and let's just say the "after" pic didn't survive because it was THAT good! They were out of dessert during our visit, but I'll definitely be back to try that cinnamon and lemon pound cake that customers around us were raving about. Big shoutout to Vi and to Penelope (I believe she was the cook that day) for serving up not just a meal, but an experience. The layout was super cool and very clean. I never knew this place was in Alpine but I found my new barbecue spot. They now offer lunch and dinner (not just at the Amigo Spot next door--who now has a happy hour at 4:00, which is awesome), we will definitely return to try that out next time! Their breakfast here is solid and better than ever! You can't go wrong with their famous churro waffle, which is sinfully delicious! My eggs were cooked perfectly and our sausage links were plump and flavorful. Their kids menu is great as well, any item for $9.95 makes it easy and a definite win no matter what your kiddos choose. Service was warm and welcoming. Both our server and busser were friendly and attentive as well. My son was excited when he recognized the busser from the last time we were here (last summer); when the nice gentleman acknowledged my son he said to me, "See mama, I remembered he was so nice, like last time." Keep up the good work Waffle Spot staff and social media team...you're doing it right! We will definitely be back soon and reminding our friends and family not to sleep on the Mission Valley gem!

Once the music got set up on the patio, it was so loud, you couldn't talk with anyone at the table. not a nice way to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends. but ok, we moved inside. The music, by the way, was excellent. So it's not that. Inside we had a server who seemed new or not very well trained. For a place that serves breakfast and lunch, it was odd that at 10 minutes before noon, we still could not order "lunch" items. but ok - pivot to breakfast. we placed drink orders and food. What came out was disappointing. we asked if the bottomless mimosas could have a little cranberry juice added. Server said not problem. What came out were cranberry mimosas, no orange juice in sight. when food came out, it left a lot to be desired. The avocado toast order was awful. plain white, grocery bread barely toasted with an avocado smash (container spread from the store or costco?) and dried grated parmesan cheese (like from the plastic container in the grocer) not as advertised and definitely not what one expects for this dish. The side of bacon was forgotten. The eggs benedict looked ok however the hollandaise sauce was barely existent and what was there was split. Making it barely edible. The other breakfast dishes were just ok. Biscuits and gravy looked good. lots of it and chunky. scrambled eggs and hashbrowns are hard to mess up. But for one person, the hashbrowns were pretty much cooked to a crisp and a lot of grease on the plate. that person left those to the bin. And had a hair on the plate. We had to ask for the bottomless mimosa to be refilled. The server took the glasses, and when they came back, one was orange, one was cranberry and THE GLASSES WERE REUSED! Unacceptable!! if the server didn't know, the bartender should know NOT to reuse glasses. Even if it is our own glasses, you don't reuse them. If you want music, average food, and drinks - this will be ok. The band was really good. The food experience was dreadful.

So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well!
