The associate was incredibly helpful and attentive. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how he talked around the core fee and how it works. You know how you catch someone in a lie and they take detours instead of providing a straight answer? He was honest but very indirect about it. The math on the screen told me everything I needed to know. The core refund is just a wash, not a discount on the price of the battery, i.e., they added $22 to the price of the battery and then took the $22 off. Anyways, he replaced the battery very quickly and we were promptly on our way. As easy as it is to change a battery, I still hope they never stop offering this gratis service.

I refused to due business there and went to another Advance Auto Parts location were it was changed without any issues. How amazing is that. The stuff in the store isn't always the cheapest in the world (comparable to Autozone, I think), but the guys here are super friendly. Fitted me for free with a headlamp bulb. I was an hour and a half from home and I called a few local parts stores. The people at the Car Quest on West Broad Street in Short Pump came to my car, checked to see what parts were needed, went back to the store, and came back with the part. Alan (spelling?) went out of his way to help me, by putting the part on the car for me and explaining what he did and why. This was not something that the company normally does, to my knowledge, but it was so kind. It was myself and two other young ladies (daughter and granddaughter), we were in a though situation being so far from home, but Alan and the people of Car Quest really did a good deed and went out of their way to help! I offered to pay him for fixing it right there, but he refused to take any money and I was only charged for the part. The part was available - I again asked to have the part shipped and it did get shipped, and the part fit and worked... So why the 3 stars when it should warrant a 5 star review? Well, it's because the customer service needs to be improved. I received a voice message stating my part arrived, I thought I paid to get it shipped. So the next morning, I called and asked the status of the part...I asked if it was still there as I paid to have it shipped. He confirmed it was still on site. So I drove an hour to the store/warehouse to pick up my part...only to be informed that it was shipped. All I received was, "sorry, my bad..." Not what I expected. As I started driving back home, I received an note of a delivery of my part... Great ability to source difficult to procure parts, however the customer service needs to improve.
