Woke up on Christmas Eve to a dead car battery. Got a jump and headed here to purchase a replacement. This location sits directly beside an Auto Zone, but since Advance Auto advertises the free battery testing and replacement services, I choose Advance. The associate was incredibly helpful and attentive. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how he talked around the core fee and how it works. You know how you catch someone in a lie and they take detours instead of providing a straight answer? He was honest but very indirect about it. The math on the screen told me everything I needed to know. The core refund is just a wash, not a discount on the price of the battery, i.e., they added $22 to the price of the battery and then took the $22 off. Anyways, he replaced the battery very quickly and we were promptly on our way. As easy as it is to change a battery, I still hope they never stop offering this gratis service. read more

I went to Advance to check to make sure my wife needed a battery for her vehicle after it would not start. I gave her a battery a boost with cables from my car battery. it started and we travelled to this closets Advance Store. The Store Clerk confirmed that the battery needed to be replaced. They had a battery in stock and I agreed to purchase. The young man was about to replace ; however a store manager would not allow him to replace. Her excuse was that due to the year and model of the vehicle that they could not replace it. It had been replaced by an Advance Auto Store employee in the past. I refused to due business there and went to another Advance Auto Parts location were it was changed without any issues. I had a dead battery and planned on going to Autozone originally. When I went there today, the staff was rude and did not look happy at all to even want to help me. They didn't even have a battery machine to check my battery level?? So the guy goes "Theres an Advance Auto Parts next door". So I happily go there since it's clear these people did not want me or my business. I believe his name was Lance who helped me. It was kind of hard to understand him because I think he was missing some teeth but he was great! I think he was a borrowed employee from another store because he kept saying they were low on stock on certain things. He helped me figure out which battery I needed and installed it! Advance Auto was an answer to prayer yesterday. I was traveling out of state with my 3 children when my check engine light began flashing and there was obviously something wrong with my vehicle. Advance Auto diagnosed my problem ASAP and (I think his name is David) referred me to a local shop that he accurately predicted would help me quickly, Cutshaw. Although they acknowledged that they had plenty to do, they would fit me in quickly if I brought the parts over from Advance. David got me the correct parts and because of him I was able to get back on the road in a timely manner. He turned a scary situation into a story of gracious characters. This is a chain store, but I usually go here for basic parts, oil, cleaning supplies etc. they have a good supply and decent prices. Today I had to replace an old battery in one of my cars that had a bad cell. This is not something I am good at- especially when it's not the car I'm used to working on. This is a finicky old car and as soon as AAA came out and got it started I was convinced it would shut off again. I called Advance and they were nice as could be- gave me a price and said they'd be looking for me. As soon as I got there, a very nice gentleman rang up my battery and came out and put it in. The car started right up, and I was out in 15 minutes. You can't beat that. This is the location I always go to- I've been in a couple others just because I was in the area, but this one is my main choice. They don't bug you when you go in but they are really polite and helpful if you need something. read more

The Advanced Auto on Chamberlyn tried to sell me three lightbulbs when I only needed two and they didn't offer to help me install my lightbulbs because they couldn't help the guy in front of me put in his lightbulbs. Then I went to the Advanced Auto on West Broad Street to ask for help, but the customer service person was apathetic and tried to handle my light bulbs without gloves. Then I went to the AutoZone on West Broad Street. Jason H. helped me right away. He installed the light bulbs in record time, which was important because it was about to be dark. I just want to say that I normally go to Auto Zone. My family has always gone to AutoZone. My Hyundai Sonata is having electrical issues. Don't buy Hyundai, either. read more

Nice new store, but thinking I was saving myself a bunch of time by using the online ordering with pickup at the store was incorrect. The two cashiers on duty were not available. One was on the phone the entire time & the other, while at the counter, was attending to a customer who was bringing items to stack on the counter, one at a time. I had to stand & wait for just over 5 minutes before I finally got to pickup my prepaid order, although I was one of only 3 customers/shoppers/ browsers in the store. They didn't even offer to install my new air filter, like Advance Auto Parts employees have done in the past for me at other stores, but that doesn't matter to me anyway, since I already know exactly how to do it. read more
