This is an overdue review, and if there were 10 stars I could give, I would. Hunter and Larry and all of the guys here at Larry's are flat-out the absolute BEST there are. Not just at what they do, which is important, but to me what is MORE important is that they are all fantastic, caring, trustworthy, totally great people. I had been a customer here many years ago, and was always MORE than happy. I can't express enough that as a single woman (and being one who knows nothing about cars), knowing that I can completely trust my mechanic, and knowing that I am always being treated fairly and respectfully is worth a lot to me. I never have to worry or think twice that Larry's the best place to go. Time and time again it's proven to me that it is. Car issues always seem to make me nervous. I guess that's because I don't know a thing about cars and feel very vulnerable when something goes wrong with my little Honda. My car is my freedom, my independence, and my livelihood, and I rely on it (and love it :) ) A LOT. I don't have a man in my life now to turn to about any questions or concerns I may have about anything auto-related. That kind of stresses me out. But I always had peace of mind about my car when I knew Larry's was there for me. And they always were! A few years ago I moved away (and never found a car place remotely like Larry's), and just very recently moved back to Richmond. One day when I was at work, my son had taken my car in to a place he and his dad use. First of all, when I went there, I was not treated nearly as well as what I had gotten used to at Larry's. I felt like a faceless number. And when I got the "diagnosis" and estimate, I cried. Literally. Right there in the shop. Like, the repair cost might as well have been a million dollars. And apparently it was BAD, and had to be done RIGHT NOW. This was at an extremely rough point in my life personally and financially, and I was not in a place where I could deal with this well. I had only been back in Richmond for a week after having lived out of the area for probably 10 years, but as I sat in my car crying and wondering what to do, I suddenly remembered Larry's and thought, "Let me take it to Larry's (if they are still there) and see what they say." I did. This was literally at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon. When I walked in, there was Hunter, who greeted me with the same friendly voice and smile I remembered from all those years ago. As I started to explain who I was and my issue, he started to look at me kind of funny and said, "I remember you!". WHAT?! I couldn't believe it. It had been about 10 years. I told him what the other place had said, and I wanted to know if I bought the parts myself if they would consider doing the work on my car. I just didn't want to give the business to the other place. I felt very taken advantage of and "taken for a ride" at the other place, and was already feeling better seeing Hunter and Larry's familiar faces. As I told Hunter my dilemma and what I'd been told at the other place, much to my embarrassment I started to cry. UGH! However, Hunter said he'd see what they could do. Well. To make a long story short, not only did they HAVE the actual parts I needed (the other place needed several days to get the parts - but told me my car wasn't drivable in the meantime), Larry's did the work on my car too, AND even stayed a bit after they closed to complete the work for A WHOLE LOT LESS than the other shop. AND I was treated with friendliness, care, respect, honesty, and everything else that will ensure that I NEVER bring my car anywhere else, I will tell everyone else I know that THIS is the place to take your car. I was out of there with a fixed, driveable car AND major peace of mind by 5:30. A million thanks to Hunter, Larry, and the entire staff at Larry's Tire and Auto. They have my highest recommendation and appreciation, and have earned my business forever. THANK YOU isn't enough. Two thumbs up, five stars, and much gratitude. Even hugs. (Who ever wants to hug the guys at their car place?! ME!) :) read more
