I had a wonderful experience at Off Camber Studios! I googled salons in the Phoenix area that specialize in balayage. I was impressed with the reviews and pictures they had uploaded. So I decided to book an appointment with Stevie. I have never had color done at a hair salon, so I was really nervous, but Stevie was wonderful. She was incredibly peppy and even made me coffee. Stevie took the time to do a consultation with me, I showed her some pictures of what I had in mind and then she started her magic. She took her time with me, and I even cut into her other clients, which I feel sorry about, but she wanted to make sure my hair would look amazing. When she was done styling my hair and she showed me, I almost cried. I gave her a hug. Walking out the door I got my first compliment in the parking lot! I was in desperate need of some help after a previous botched color and cut elsewhere and when I sat down with Brent he listened to my concerns and thoughtfully crafted an outstanding new look. He did a base coat (to fix my spotty highlights) and a remarkable balayage for a perfect sun-kissed look. I have very thick dark brown hair that now looks rich with dimension. Before finding Brent, I NEVER walked out of the salon liking the way they styled it. I always had to grow into the style and color. With Brent, I am amazed by how much I love it. I have received more compliments on my hair than I ever have before. The cut is soooo beautiful that I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. As for the salon itself, it's so down to earth, but classy. Their customer service is unparalled and each of them are as beautiful inside as they are out. On a side note, the female stylists are lovely, but the male stylists - OH MY GOODNESS! They are fun to look at, but aren't outrageous egomaniacs. I recommend this salon highly! read more

My long time hairstylist closed her salon due to COVID two weeks before my wedding. I had just moved to Phoenix a few months prior and desperately needed someone to fix my messy quarantine hair. In a panic, I made an appointment with Gina. She was a lifesaver!!! We looked at inspiration pictures together and talked in depth about what I wanted. We came up with a plan that would both have my hair looking beautiful for my wedding day and that would keep it healthy long term. She took the time to make it perfect even if that meant we were the last appointment in the salon that night. She even taught me how to use a flat iron to get the exact type of wave I am hoping to accomplish on my big day. My balayage turned out even better than I imagined!! I was a little nervous when I heard she was my stylist because I was a walk in appointment, so I didn't know who was working that day. I had seen her reviews on yelp and one bad review regarding her services. I decided to stick with her as my stylist and I'm so glad that I did. The bad reviews that I read was probably just one time thing. Stevie was professional, she listened to what I wanted for my haircut, and she was fun to talk to during my appointment. It had been four months since I had a haircut and my hair needed a lot of cleaning up. She did a great job keeping the length I wanted and also framing the haircut to my face. I had a cut I absolutely hated (looked like someone put a mop upside down on my hair, lol) that I needed fixed. When I arrived, I noticed that the salon was really cute and clean. Patrick M happened to be the stylist that day and I appreciated that he took the time to ask the right questions as to why I was so unhappy, then he gave me his opinion and together we worked to find a great solution to my hair troubles. I have never felt more discriminated than any salon I've been to in twenty years of my life. I am Asian and I'm from LA visiting AZ for the first time. I went to this salon for a consult for a balayage ombre and a cut that was much needed since I am Asian with long black hair. The guy I had a consult with is nice but he had a condescending personality and looked at me like I was crazy when I said I wanted to get my hair lightened and cut and even questioned me why I don't try an Asian salon. Are you kidding me?? First of all I was visiting my boyfriend in Arizona and secondly is this how you treat first time customers?? I will definitely NOT be coming back to this salon ever again. Felt like I was trying to get into a sorority more than anything else. If you are Asian, do not go here they will discriminate you. read more

I am new to the area so this is my first experience since moving from Hawai'i. For starters I will say that I love the outcome of my visit today. I saw Michael and he's lovely. He's very obviously mastered this, his trade and his work is beautiful and is actually fluent artwork. I initially found the salon on yelp and as it's fairly close to my new home and had such great ratings I was interested. I met with Elizabeth for consult and she was very friendly and gave me a price that was similar to my previous salon trips for service including the first 1/3 of my hair highlighted with foils and to have my medium long hair trimmed and shaped. As my days off refused to coordinate with her schedule however, I scheduled with Michael. I enjoyed the visit, his assistant was wonderful and she washed my tangly hair with care and a nice head and neck massage, which I hadn't expected and it made me feel like royalty. Now for my only two points of critique: Point 1: the salon is very small and with the stations filled it feels very crowded and is Loud. I have some hearing trouble anyway so I found myself saying "what?" Repeatedly which was probably frustrating for Michael. This is however something I was already aware might be an issue because I'd met Elizabeth previously and took consideration knowing the place is very busy and small. Point 2: I received a price quote from Elizabeth that was more than $100 less than what I was charged for the same service with Michael. This is entirely my fault for assuming that everyone in the salon would charge similar prices and for not even thinking that I should have asked if the price would change when they made my confirmation call also I could have asked at the time I arrived. It didn't occur to me, so I will accept it as a lesson learned. Overall the work was exemplary, but not being independently wealthy, I will not likely schedule again. read more

I used to come here when I lived in Scottsdale since I was only a few minutes away. I now live in Gilbert and with my busy schedule I tried a new salon, it was a horrible mistake. My hair is butchered and now I can't wait until it grows out so I can go back to Michael and have him cut it right! Michael knows how to cut my hair so that it best suits my needs and hair texture. I have thick straight hair and after leaving here my hair always feels soft and healthy and flowing.
