I've had the absolute best experiences at David Frank Salon! I found them when I was new to the area and another salon completely ruined my hair color. I called about their corrective color services and they worked wonders to get my hair looking amazing. I've come here ever since for color, highlights, haircuts and styling and I've always left looking and feeling amazing and I always get compliments about my hair. The staff is friendly, polite and professional and when you go in for an appointment, it's like visiting friends and getting a spa day for your hair all at one time. I often had ideas about random colors I wanted to try and the owners and stylists are very honest about how it will affect my hair, what to consider and what might even be better options to keep my hair looking good and healthy. I'll definitely keep coming back! read more

visiting Scottsdale for a couple of months and wife needed a cut. read reviews on the salon and seemed that Frank was a great with short hair cuts. Decided to give him a try. Went on March 3 and showed Frank a picture of a couple of my wife's old haircuts, chatted with him and let him do his thing. He did a great great job. I would recommend anybody that doesn't have that silly long hair and wants a sexy little shorter cut go see Frank. read more

Got my haircolor done by Dave, he was very professional, explaining the process and nailing the Color! My hair has never looked so good! I get compliments by strangers all the time. The salon was clean, the staff was nice, I would recommend this place if you want a great look. Next, I'm going to try Frank for a haircut. I can't wait! read more

Extremely disappointed, cut my hair shorter than what I asked and nothing like the picture I showed him . After one wash I noticed longer strands hanging out in few different places that there were completely missed . Tried to called them few times and just realized they are close till July 28. read more

Having known David and Frank for years and knowing how professional and talented they both are, I recently had the pleasure of meeting Emily. I needed a haircut and was referred to her by another happy client of theirs. I found Emily to be very talented and also professional as well. She listened to what I wanted, repeated what she heard me say back to me, took her time to make sure we were on the same page, then proceeded to give me an excellent hair cut. I think her ability to want to make sure she understood what I was asking for was as excellent as her cutting skills. I was very impressed with Emily and look forward to seeing her again. read more

My pixie cut needed a clean up after growing out for a while so I booked an appointment and I'm so glad that I booked with Cassidy! (We have the same name lol) She was so friendly and took her time to understand exactly what I wanted & my haircut is just what I had in mind! I'll definitely be going back to her in for future cuts. The salon did a great job keeping everything COVID safe. Customers and staff wore masks and I felt very comfortable being in the salon. I definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a new place to get a cut! read more

(Angels Singing) I have finally found an expert short hair specialist in Frank at the David Frank Salon! I have searched Phoenix for four years trying to find someone who knows how to do a very short haircut, and am happy to say I can stop looking, now. Upon arrival, I received a shampoo with scalp massage from Maggie. She was so friendly and fun to talk to - totally put me at ease. She told me I was in the right place to get a great short cut, and she was spot on! Then I met Frank, and after a quick consultation and analysis of my thick hair, texture, face shape, I gave him free reign to do a style that would fit me. Left with a very fun pixie cut that I can dress up or dress down. My hair is a fashion I wear every day. A great cut is so important if you wear your hair short! If you want a great hair cut, please book an appointment with Frank. Maybe I'll see you there! read more

Hands down the BEST salon I've ever gone to and a long time ago I lived in Brentwood, CA.... Got my hair cut in Beverly Hills and this salon can't compare! I have short hair and Frank knows exactly how to cut to make it stylish and fun.... Not old lady looking!!! David and Samantha are excellent with color. Staff is professional, courteous, friendly and it's a great vibe. Don't think twice!!!!! read more

I scheduled a color consult, Maggie was very nice. A heads up, David Frank's salon will not cut or style any one who has extensions I'm not sure if they're fearful of liability, but given this is Scottsdale, they are really missing the mark. read more

I FINALLY found my colorist! After almost four years of living in Scottsdale, and finding NO ONE who could own up to giving me the blonde color that I wanted/needed for my fine/thin lackluster hair, I FINALLY found David here at the David Frank Salon. I'll just say he totally gets it. He's a GREAT listener...THE MARK of a good hairdresser, first and foremost, IMHO. I came away that day with the PERFECT blonde color...one that COMPLIMENTS my skin tone...and the perfect AMOUNT of it...a full head of foil blonde highlights, with a little of my natural hair left to give me the depth and contrast that I wanted. To boot, my hair was BRIGHT and SHINY, and BOUNCY. I was AMAZED! I haven't had THAT experience in sooo many years...I thought my hair was dead forever! SO, if you're in need of the best hair colorist ever, you need to definitely call the DF Salon and go see David. I can't imagine that you won't be so glad you did! ...a great experience all around! read more

I decided to chop 10 inches off my hair and get a pixie cut. The salon was more than accommodating on the phone, helping me book last minute and recommending their stylist Cassidy who has curly hair herself and was skilled in cutting and styling natural curls. Let me say- I've never had a better experience. Cassidy was honestly more excited to cut my hair than I was! She was so encouraging start to finish. She listened to all of my concerns and tweaked my haircut to be exactly what I wanted. She took the time to add a few more layers per my request. I am in love with my new cut. Keep up the wonderful work. I will be back! read more

Was in a horrible hair situation due to meds. Had to really cut it short when I didn't want to. I read tons of reviews and thank God I did. David gave me the best cut ever! Absolutely my salon now! I love this place!! read more

First there is nothing more relaxing, satisfying and enjoyable than getting your hair styled. Had Samantha a colorist at David Frank color my hair. She matched my skin tone, eye color with the perfect shade of blonde. Love my hair and will not have any other colorist do my hair. My only regret. Didn't take before and after pictures. Will do next time! Thank you so much Samantha for making me feel great. read more

They have moved to a new location on Northsight. More space and convenient location. Easy parking, just next to Home Depot.

I drove an hour just to have my appointment with David. He listened to everything I wanted, looked at pictures of hair I thought would work for me, asked questions about me, then made the big cut, and away we went. Talking with David was effortless and felt like we knew each other for years. He's professional, knows hair, and truly cares about how his clients look and feel when they leave. I walked out LOVING my new style and this morning I woke up and didn't have to spend more than one minute to get my hair in order. And, the young lady who washed my hair...OMG, she massaged my head and neck so nicely I could have drifted off to sleep. THANK YOU David...XOXOXO Penny E. read more

I don't leave reviews but I wanted to add the rave reviews! I wanted to do something different with my hair and decided on balayage. I googled local places and then looked on yelp for good places. Happened upon David Frank Salon and so glad I did. Booked my appointment and met with David for color and Haley for my haircut. David did an amazing job on my hair! He took the time to talk with my about my desires for hair and discussed expectations. The color came out amazing and looks wonderful. Haley did a great job on my haircut and took the time to style it. I walked out feeling amazing! Everyone is really nice, too. If you are looking for a change, come here! So glad I did! read more

I had a great stylist, Cassidy! I was her last appointment yesterday and she was so sweet and so patient with me. She gave me a great haircut, took her time and styled great too. Highly recommend her and the salon. The salmon was very comfortable, clean and had a great feel. Didn't push a bunch of products and took care me of very well. read more

I made an appointment with senior stylist Frank over the phone. Two weeks later I walked into the salon and was met by a surly and unfriendly receptionist who also reluctantly washed my hair. Frank appeared out of nowhere shortly after. He did nothing but talk the entire 15 minutes it took him to both cut and style my hair. I was asked a few prying questions about my family. He outright vandalized my hair. He chopped two deep 3 inch layers off the back and left me with a full blown mullet. I had beautiful virgin shoulder length hair when I walked in. I received an equally out of date weird blow out to match. I was embarrassed to leave the salon and go to the parking lot. read more

I have been working with the salon for over ten years. The best colorist! He's professional and talented.

I can't speak highly enough of the David Frank Salon!!! Almost every other salon was closed and I was pressed to get my hair done for my engagement photos. I stumbled upon them online and was NOT disappointed!!! Haley was beyond unreal!! Not only was she incredibly talented with my hair and did an amazing job but beyond that she was so kind, thoughtful and an incredibly genuine person!! I will definitely be back and recommend anyone to go.... ask for Haley!!! read more

My appointment was with Frank. I wanted a pixie cut and found a few pictures of what I wanted and a few pictures of what I did not want. I know time is limited during appointments so to expedite the consultation I "marked" the photos I did not like. He did not give me 5 minutes to explain and/or show what I wanted. He picked up the scissors and chopped my hair. I left looking like I had a haircut from a student in their first week of clinic. I probably could have received a better cut from Great Clips for $15. read more

This salon was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. My appointment started right on time and the staff was very warm and accommodating when I first arrived. The salon itself is very sleek and clean, but it has a fun atmosphere. Everyone was smiling and positive. Cassidy gave me a cut and style and I have to say she was INCREDIBLE. Not only was she warm and personable, but she was knowledgeable and very talented. She gave me lots of pointers on how to maintain my new style and it looks absolutely flawless. This was my first experience at this salon and I can safely say I will be returning for all of my hair needs, especially to Cassidy. I highly recommend this salon! read more

Love this salon. Calm, knowledgeable and spotless interior. The expertise is worth the cost!

AMAZING!! The reviews are true.. I left LOVING my hair!! First of all, let me say I rarely go to a new hairdresser.. like every girl, it's a scary thought as visions of bad haircuts, colors, etc run through your brain. BUT, I found myself in Scottsdale for the weekend and desperately needed to get my hair colored! I had postponed and put it off for months because I didn't have time to drive to my stylist in LA (I live in San Diego so it's a 2 -3 hour drive).. well I decided to take a chance and looked at reviews before choosing David. And thank God I did.. my hair looks amazing and I'm VERY particular. I live in CA so I'm used to seeing a million "bad blondes" but yet I like my hair lighter so it only works well when I'm in the hands of any amazing colorist. My favorite look is that ombre Gisele/Jennifer Aniston golden blonde where it's darker at the roots and sun kissed on the way down and let me say, David delivered!! My only complaint is that he's not in San Diego because I would without question, go back to him! Rest assured ladies, this is a stylist you can trust and you will leave the salon looking fabulous!! read more

David and Frank have been styling my hair for quite some time, and I adore both of them. I was very excited when I heard they were opening their own salon, so I was happy this morning as I walked toward the doors for my first appointment at the new place! Everything just got better from there. I walked in and was greeted by the staff, saw David's smiling face, and changed into my smock (I like their smocks much better than the ones at the "other" salon). Next I saw Frank's smiling face and was offered coffee, water, tea, or... WAIT FOR IT ... a glass of wine. Uh--YES PLEASE! :-D Later on, I was told they also have mimosas. I might have to try those next time... The color and cut turned out perfectly as usual. I never have to tell David or Frank what I'd like; both of them know exactly what to do to achieve the perfect results. It's difficult to find a good stylist, and I would have followed these two ANYWHERE. I know they have a rather large following and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Love!!!!!! My new favorite place to get my hair done! I'm making it my permanent salon. I have been twice and both times the staff was welcoming and kind! I adore the way my color turned out! I chopped off about 4 1/2 inches on my second visit and they did and amazing job with the cut & style! I am looking forward to the next time I go in! read more

I had a lot going on with my hair. Sort of a botched ombre, a multi color root situation and I didn't want a ton of extra processes to fix bc my hair is long and I reallllly want to keep it that way. I came here based on yelp reviews. Oh my oh my. I explained my problem, David took time to assess and communicate w me and he came up w a plan. I'm very very happy with the results. I have seen 4 stylist, colorists over 1 year and I will not be looking any further. David is my guy. Forever. I may stalk him if he ever decides to retire. Walking out, my hair felt healthy, the color was perfect and I felt the charge was more than reasonable. Very thankful to Yelpers for the guidance, so I felt I should add my experience to the community. One more 5 star review for this place. I'm a believer for sure. read more

Wow. Your response should be an indication to future customers on how you treat existing customers. We were charged $65 dollars for a child's trim that took 15 minutes with no wash or blow dry. Your explanation was that it was all about the time frame allotted for Cassidy and inferred that we would somehow not want her to be compensated appropriately for her services. Prices should reflect services rendered. Please explain to me why your web site says that a haircut and style is $55-$65, a haircut alone is $45-55, shampoo and style is $35-$45 and a special occasion hairstyle costs $65. Clearly, there is some miscommunication here. Simply being upfront about the price and that your salon is not equipped to do a child haircuts in a way that makes sense for your pricing structure would have sufficed. We could have then made a choice to take her elsewhere. Once again, one star for how this situation was handled. read more

So I'd just like to apologize to the business for assuming they didn't acknowledge what a balayage was. I am a little impatient. They did tell me my hair was going to lighten up. From the looks of the picture I took right afterwards to today, it has really lightened up and actually looks pretty good. The color is what I was looking for. I didn't realize by washing it would lighten up since I had only washed it once since the treatment. I am just now noticing the color difference. read more

Fantastic service at a great price! I'm in town from Chicago and wanted a color touch up and blow out / style. After a consult with David, Aaron took great care of me with the color application, then a wonderfully relaxing shampoo and condition. Hailey then did my blow dry style and it was EXACTLY what I wanted! My color was perfect and my hair was smooth with nice volume and a beautiful curl. If I extend my stay longer, I will absolutely be going back to David Frank Salon in Scottsdale!! Thank you for taking care of me from the first phone call - to me leaving after my great salon experience! MaryMaureen read more

I cannot express enough the delight this place and Hailey brought me yesterday! I came in for a scheduled consultation and haircut with Hailey without a super clear vision in mind. With only a vague idea, Hailey was able to reassure me, make point of my hair's qualities and conjure up a fabulous hair cut that I've been longing for forever! I went from long hair to a pixie cut for the first time which was nerve wrecking but Hailey was very friendly and supportive. The salon is also friendly, clean and professional which is nice. I got a haircut and blow dry with a master stylist and that was about $60. For $60 I got a hair cut that made me feel pretty about my hair again and I got there in the best way possible! I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I just had a terrible experience with a colorist. My hair was bronze and reddish. Was so upset that I looked up the best salon to fix color; This is the place that came up. Victoria was very understanding and helpful. She noticed the problems before I explained everything. She came up with a solution and went right to work. Was very cordial and sweet. It is apparent that she enjoys what she does. She did a highlight, color and toner in about 2.5 hours, and Lexxi did a blow out and bang trim. She was very patient even though it was the end of her shift. She also listened to what I asked and worked hard to please me. The price was 20% less than the place that ruined my hair. I am pleased with the results. Next time I may try a bit more low lights to incorporate depth. Thank you for understanding all hair is very different and you need to pay attention to what a customer asks for ! Good job! I will be back even though I live in South Chandler! read more

I have never been to a salon where I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end as much as I did here. I was hesitate to go and almost canceled. It's hard to drive a half hour, go sit in a chair and make small talk with someone you don't know for even longer, and scary to let someone you don't know cut your hair, especially when you don't have much of it bc you have a pixie cut. But I went, partially bc it met having some free time to myself sans kids, and I am so glad I did. I've never had a better head massage while shampoo- I mean, take my money, pure relaxation here. The shop was welcoming, super clean but not pretentious. Perfect. Then we get to Frank. As soon as I sat down to wait for my appt (I was 15 min early), he came over and greeted me, shook my hand, and made me feel like I was right to be there. He asked me questions about my hair and was excited to cut it, not hesitate or scared at all. He understood the issues I was having with other stylists not being able to cut short hair correctly and not tend to detail. Then he said he'd see me in a few. For once I didn't want to run out of the salon! The cut went the same. Frank was great, so nice and funny, but more than anything he was a pro and I never worried about if he was ruining my hair. It looked the best it has ever looked short leaving the salon, and today after styling it myself I like it even better. He is a master and worth every penny bc it'll be done right without me having to bring a thousand pictures and give a million directions and then still have issues. He is a true find when it comes to cutting short hair and I won't be going anywhere else. I can't tell you how happy I am! read more
